Think you want to get the water flushed through mate, I had the same sounding problem and it ended up being bits of rust going through the pipes so I got the mechanic to take the radiator of and flush the water out and it seemed to do the trick.

Something I learned from servicing the MR2 cooling system:

Turn the radiator filler cap to the first notch (not fully open) and then run the engine for 3-4 minutes until warm. By running the system at atmospheric pressure any air bubbles should escape thru the cap.
