  1. No no no, this is not another story of 'The one that got away' more so a tale of what I caught and will definitely be keeping. My 'catch' comes in at over 15feet long and tips the scales at over 4500lbs and, without any doubt whatsoever is the best catch in all my years of fishing!! Here are a couple of piccy's Seriously folks, after all my threads/posts over the past few months, I have finally got there. The car is a smidgen over one year old, it is Mesa Red, it is the Premier version, it has 4600 miles on the clock, it has a Tracker fitted, the dealer very kindly fitted my Dashcam including a rear one as part of the deal. I have got 4 years warranty on it (I purchased the 2 for 1 extended warranty that kicks in after the remainder of the manufacturers warranty ends in December 2016) It also came with a full tank of fuel. I have met the previous owner, he lives less than a mile from me. I mentioned this story in an earlier thread, here is an extract from that thread - "Funny thing this morning, I walked into a shop and tripped up a step as I didn't notice the 'MIND THE STEP' notice as I was looking at the chap who was holding the door open for me. We exchanged pleasantries and each went about our business. Fifteen minutes later I was walking back to my car and there was the same chap sitting in a beautiful red IS300h Premier and so I tapped the window and got chatting to him again. he has had the car for 12 months and he is part exchanging it at the end of December as he is getting an NX300h as it will be easier to get into and out of. The car has only got just over 4000miles on the clock. Lucky chappie eh!" Thanks to all you members who have been so helpful with answers to my many and varied questions on the 300h I now have to spend some time getting to know the car and all of its goodies, and so I expect that I will have to ask more questions. One question already, is there any way that I can tell if I have the 'F' update that I have seen mentioned in other threads?

  2. I bought the Drivepro 3 months or so ago and it's brilliant. The only thing I would recommend is paying £6.99 for the suction holder rather than the self adhesive one that comes with it. It also makes it easy if you want to put it in another car. It's also HD and wifi. Nice to see I bought the one that came out on top, it's often the other way round!

  3. SR = low spec SE-L = Top Spec Sport = Alcantara. seats?, HIDs but missing a few bits that are on the SE-L Would avoid the SR, and would look for the Mark Levinson unit (14 speakers, 300Watts)

  4. That's normal. I do exactly the same as you, 3 miles to the station. By the last quarter mile or so, the engine is warm enough and I can run in EV. In the summer, 70% of the journey can be in EV. Winter, I'm getting around 30-35, in the summer more like 50+. I drove to a client site yesterday, A1/M - M25 - A3, around 50 miles each way and averaged 52mpg for the return journey.

  5. I have the same issue with mine. In my case it is down to the fifth injector sticking open and feeding to much fuel through creating the white unburned smoke.

  6. Trip home from Coventry to kent today, mainly Motorway and around 10miles A roads, the dis showed, 58.9, I’m chuffed with that, around 55-70 Mph. And only see one other 3rd gen IS, a 250. Had a little smile, knowing how much fuel he must of been using. And I still adore the 2nd gen IS250 in Messa red.

  7. Would be very interested to see more detail of the failed junction box assemblies. In my experience, most of the modern ECUs like this are heavily protected internally. I've only ever seen two or 3 catastrophic failures like this, and they have always been short circuits in the loom. I can't match the photo of the failed PCB up with the outside of the ECU, so I assume it is some sort of internal intermediate control, though given the fault description, it does sound like the problem was the locking circuit. The switch issue could be a reflection of the fact that the body ECU sends the door switch signal to the dash, and that the ECU was malfunctioning at that time. The locking motors are reversible - the ECU connects them one way round to lock, and the other way to unlock, and disconnects when idle. A short to ground or 12V on one of the lock control wires could certainly cause this type of burn out. Ashpoint has posted an extract of the wiring diagram with these wires highlighted. I'd check these wires very carefully, as they are my prime suspect. Being unable to lock the door, suggests that the lock motor might have been jammed on in unlock mode. The other thing is that the body ECU doesn't do very much high power stuff, except for the door locks and the windscreen wipers. Most of what it does is sensors, controls and interior lighting. I don't know what a P0-40 is, but I guess it is something to do with the mirrors. The mirror retract circuits are nothing to do with the body control ECU. So I doubt it's that.

  8. As im bored ive just done the maths. If you get a 50 mpg diesel you will be spending about £1050 on fuel per year. Keeping the IS at an average of 30 mpg you would spend about £1630 on petrol, no brainer then...

  9. I understand that most bettery drain is caused by the alarm. If your car is kept overnight in a secure place .... why not just use your key to lock the car.... only use the alarm when left somewhere vulnerable. Does anyone know if the LS has an imobiliser? I have an S2000 fitted with a cobra alarm....if you manually lock this the imobiliser still operates. If this is the same with the Lex alarm, maybe safe enough without setting. saves all the hassle of battery drain and lockout! Rich.
