  1. Hello, I've been away a couple of days so sorry if I'm repeating something you all know. I am looking at the front page of my local paper reading about Mr Umar Ijaz who has pleaded guilty at Dudley magistrates court to "supplying a vehicle in an unroadworthy condition" and two offences relating to professional diligence and misleading descriptions. He has been fined £1,050, ordered to pay £640 compensation and £40 victim surcharge. According to the newspaper(express and star), the case was bought by Dudley trading standards against Ijaz, who was trading on EBay as, Lexuschap. Hope this cheers people up, its taken a long time. Pete

  2. As a repeated defender of Lexuschap here, I have to put my hands up and admit I was wrong about him.

  3. Hi guys Just back from a superb 'Road Trip' - the North Coast 500 - 500 miles north of Inverness. Starting in Inverness, we went north to John O'Groats, west to Durness then south via Lochinver, Ullapool, Gairloch and Applecross to Loch Carron. The official route (there's a website) goes back from Loch Carron to Inverness, but we cut that leg out as it's mostly a fairly boring 2 hour drive through Glen Carron. Instead we headed for home via Lochaber, Fort William and Glen Coe. Even so we managed about 600 miles on the part designated as the NC500 with various excursions and diversions. Thing is, of course, there's also the 900 miles round trip even for us in Cheshire to the start and finish, but we were in Deeside in Aberdeenshire anyway. Car performed faultlessly (now due for a service!) and I really appreciated its overtaking ability on some of the winding roads along the route! Most of the route recommendations involve doing it clockwise, but we did it anticlockwise, partly because it leaves the best till last and also you approach the mountains of Assynt from the north - the best aspect! (IMHO) Many superlatives are hurled at scenery, but the views on this route really justify them all! Here are a few tid-bits. All pics taken between Monday 11th April and Thursday 14th April. Don't know if the pics will appear in order, but here are the titles: 1 Mermaid of the North 2 Rolling Boulder scupture at John O'Groats 3 Torrisdale Bay 4 Inverpolly Forest 5 Summer Isles 6 Sgurr a'Ghreadaidh from A896 7 Here we are at Inveralligin, looking south across Loch Torridon towards Ben-damph Forest 8 Shieldaig (the more southerly one off Loch Torridon - there are two Shieldaigs quite close together!) Other 'Road Trips' are available - from personal experience I can particularly recommend the Route des Grandes Alpes between Lake Geneva to the French Riviera (only passable in July and August), and the coastal route from Los Angeles to San Francisco - some of you might like to suggest others!

  9. Clarkson earns his living from cars. New cars earn him good money and he will be attracted to those who pay the most. Why should a professional journo pass anything other than negative opinions on a Lexus when Mercedes pay so well? TBH I like to make my own mind up about cars since I do not believe that professional motoring journos are interested in reporting anything other than what earns them most money.

  10. Don't stop reading that forum, just give it a more critical read. Some good stuff has come from that forum. For example, I was reading that forum where I learnt that cars which didn't leave the factory with cruise control fitted were only missing the switch... all of the other equipment including the software were integral to the original build of ALL Ct200s. I also learnt that the Americans had so little tolerance for the goo tyre repair kit which we in the UK got fobbed off with that very few american CTs came without a space saver and UK dealers claiming that there was no alternative to goo just hadn't bothered to do any research. I think that there are as many wrong steers in the UK forum as there are in the USA forum.

  13. Having had the misfortune to get a flat tyre on my one year old Ct200H I soon realized that the compressor/ sealant kit was a very expensive option. What they don’t tell you in the user manual is that as soon as the tyre has sealant in it, no garage will repair the tyre – it’s bin material and you need to get a new compressor kit as well. So each flat costs around £160! I realized it was time to bite the bullet and get a space saver tyre. I figured I only needed four punctures in the life of the car to break even on the cost of all the new parts. Thanks to a post from Wass back in 2012 I got in touch with the very helpful Antony Wilson at Lexus Hatfield and figured out which parts I needed and ordered them. I have gone for a complete set up which even includes a jack holder. Once you put a space saver tyre in the boot the original storage box and lid will no longer fit. I have listed the parts below for reference E42611-21290 Wheel disk Q125/7017conti Continental tyre E51931-76010 Carrier spare – hold down bold for tyre E64777 76020 Cushion – spare tyre insert holds jack handle E42668 0D010 Caution label for tyre rim E64993-76030 Box deck floor – storage box E58416-76020-C1 Board – cover for storage box E58709-76010 Carrier Sub assbly – Jack holder bracket E90119-06830 Bolts x3 to attach jack holder Having to spend another £681 on a car that cost £32K to get a dependable spare solution didn’t fill me with joy but I’m ready for my next puncture. You could of course spend a lot less depending if you didn’t order every part. I'm not sure how to add pix on here of the completed install but happy to email them if people want to get in touch.
