  1. It reminds me of a post I made ages ago asking if anyone had discovered buttons they didn't know they had. I found one yesterday. Because I never sit in the back I didn't know the rear AC had its own temperature control, the dog loved it!

  2. Whenever I got something like shopping out of the back of our RX450h I always found it a bit of a nuisance having to either get the key out of my pocket to lock the car or to walk round to either of the front doors to lock using the indent on the door handle. Some might call me lazy! However, yesterday I discovered that there is a very small button under the rear hatch handle on the right hand side which if you press it upwards once will lock the car and if you press it twice will double lock the car. Still discovering little things after 2 years of ownership! JBP

  3. Back on topic... I reckon anyone who has an issue with objective scrutiny about a car they are selling is 99.9% hiding something and given said car was below market price best avoided IMHO!

  4. The latter posts are a gentle reminder to fellow ISF owners that we are 'not alone' in terms of other Lexus model owners who flatter us with their presence in our threads about owning our cars....

  5. sorry, my fault as I started it. Sarcasm doesn't work on the internet. but yes the point was I don't think I'm a brain dead geek because I read a forum. A petrol head sure. BDG? no.

  8. > I think my wife threw out all my old CD's when we moved That would be grounds for divorce in my house Rich. ;-) I'm embarrassed to say that my current HiFi system is worth a similar amount to my F-Sport and I dread to think about what I've spent on kit over the years before settling on what I currently have. Curse you McIntosh Labs and your overpriced beauties. CDs can be had pretty cheaply these days and they just about satisfy my nostalgic need to hold the media and artwork in my hands. They'll never match the physical and emotional input required of you when listening to vinyl, but they're a damn site more convenient. I'm not ready to go all out for convenience though, and listen to purely cloud-based music delivery. I can understand why others want to. Music is one of my greatest passions I guess, one of the reasons I opted for the Mark Levinson system and mandatory Premium Nav. Given the inevitable compromises when listening to music in a car (road / traffic noise, surrounded by lots of glass etc), the sound quality of the ML is really rather good. I tweak the EQ settings occasionally, depending on what I'm listening to, but its default settings are so good that it's clear a lot of thought has gone into it. The software / firmware that controls the Premium Nav interface, particularly the USB integration is less impressive. They really should improve this.

  9. One thing I would do differently from the video above - I would use much more water or other lubricant with green or red (course) pads.. that would prevent deep scratches by the paper itself and will mean less job with both blue paper and the polishing paste. Making that more like wet sanding... Anyway - I have ordered blue pads (fine) and still have some paste left from last time, going to try to remove the vertical scratches this way. Will see how it goes..

  11. True but now hopefully his pal who informed it's being discussed will update him and he can come on here and put us all right.

  12. Great news, I often advocate my Toyota dealer parts counter, they aren't that bad on prices for services items and it's proper stuff versus eurocarparts and the like (unless they have a cracking deal on Shell or Mobil1 type stuff they can stick that QX stuff and comma crap!) Remember to ask about the service items deal when you go in next - I think it's four items for the price of 3 - ie: oil filter, oil, air filter and free cabin filter etc - you can mix and match too so could swap oil for spark plugs etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. HI Everyone. Problem has been resolved. Thankfully, the sun was out when I took the car to mechanic. He can hear the knock and problem was immediately reproducible. First he thought it was top mount. Then disassembled everything and found one of the shock absorber was busted and showed sign of leak. He called me up next day saying anti roll bar links were not good either. To analyze the whole situation, when shock was not holding car properly especially when weather is warm, it kind of put more pressure the anti roll bar linkages which in turn make them loose, create play and knocking sound. After spending £600 on parts and labours, car is finally sorted. Thanks PCM for recommending Jepex.

  14. Happy for the owner (or whoever spotted this thread) to corrects us. It seems a great bargain but the owners attitude throws it in to question.

  15. Thanks all for the help guys. GoPro is a great idea as well. My lad wants one of those, he may have to wait a bit longer! So, I spent an hour this morning looking in the "luggage" area. Took my stuff out of the boot. Took all the tools and jack etc out of the storage area. I loosened the spare wheel tensioner and re-tightened it. The tooltray/box did not have the two plastic trim push fasteners, so had room to move. I replaced these to prevent any movement. Some of the tools were a loose fit in their moulded places so I packed them slightly with some pieces of cloth. The jack when in place was slightly opened against its packing, again to prevent movement. Made sure the rear centre fold down console was securely locked on its retaining clip. Closed the lids and took it along my unmade up road, and all I can now hear is a very slight squeeking from the rear seats, leather on leather. I would expect that. As I changed several things at the same time, can not tell what was the cause, but suspect the tools or the tool box moulding. I am just happy that the irritation has stopped, for the moment at least. Allways felt it was not a suspension noise, but still pleased it did not result in having to replace the rears. Thanks again for the suggestions. Just to say, 1800 miles across France towng a vintage car on a trailer was a joy. The car was so comfortable as has been reported on other postings, gave on average 20-21 mpg. Using the cruise control had the car changing gear a lot on inclines so I suspect turning it off resulted in better mpg and a more relaxing drive, at the cost of only a slight increase in journey time. Great car, Regards David D

  16. Have a look at the spare wheel enclosure underneath & the tool kit & boot compartments to see if everything is tight or if there is anything bouncing around ... or it could be the exhaust .... I had a similar thing on a shogun, if the exhaust angle isn't quite right or rubber mounts are missing/wrong ones fitted (short instead of long or vice versa) it can swing & tap underneath .. If you have checked all the bushes/mounting arms etc the only other things I can think of would be a snapped coil spring or something has come loose inside a rear brake drum maybe a snapped brake shoe spring or retaining clip ?
