  1. I owned this many years ago. Bought it with buggered front air suspension and swapped the front struts with some from a MA70 Supra - I miss this car

  2. ….good day / evening to you all, again ! 🙄 Malcolm, thank you for your 5th message to me - so where are the other 1095 LS 400’s ?………getting nervous, are we - hence your message? latest score now: Malcolm 3.100 contribution’s - Anthony 7 !! every forum I have read the member’s alway’s ask for more photo’s on a topic - often with little result! ☹️ ok, so here are some more pic’s covering the centre flight deck display on my Lexus LS 400……Concorde? - get ‘outta here…..( it was 100% analogue - no digital display’s ! ). ….factoid - 1987: one of the very first touch sensitive colour display screen’s that control Navigation, Time, 6 CD, FM / LW, Cassette and HVAC ( heating, ventilation and air conditioning ) ! note the ‘dual’ key that, when, selected really does deliver different temperature’s to front / rear driver and passenger side’s ! the ‘front screen’ key is not a Ford type glass element, just blown air……23.5 year’s later - every comms display stlll work’s ! (😲)….just like a Mercedes-Benz W140 / 220, BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and Jaguar XJ 🤭 ! ! Anthony……stay with me - there will be more to follow….🥱🫣😃

  3. "Think Yorkshire may have been a tad warmer than Spain today." Not something you hear said very often!

  4. David, Mine is in 'ECO' mode and now showing 2.4 mile/Kwh. Note that when in EV mode the car will sometimes make up its own mind to change to HV mode for a short time. I think this may be to keep the 12v battery charged, or perhaps some other reason, but it gives you a false idea of the range you think you are getting in EV mode. I tried a longer motorway trip recently in HV mode, but the car stayed the whole journey with the ICE engine doing the driving and the fully charged EV battery stayed fully charged. So I put it into EV mode for the return journey! Electricity is cheaper than petrol! Tom

  5. Went on the Spanish motorway with the top down. No hats lost again. Noisy at 80 thru the tunnels past the trucks. My ears are still ringing. Think Yorkshire may have been a tad warmer than Spain today.

  6. Be aware and even allowing for the fact that Lexus Hull have new cars arriving next week for their customers there is currently no listing for the LBX by any major motor insurer, so obtaining a quote or getting an amendment to an existing policy will be difficult unless Insurers use the UX as a base line till a rating group is identified. The lack of a listing for quote purposes was explained to me by Lexus Insurance themselves who technically don't carry the risk but use a third party supplier to underwrite their business. The reason is that the Vehicle Repair Centre known as the Thatcham Insurance Repair Centre have yet to complete their evaluation of the LBX. This is where the crash testing and repair architecture in repairing the LBX has yet to be completed. This prevents the Association of British Insurers from listing the car for quotation purposes. The research centre is funded by the Association of British Insurers and ensures Insurers place the car in the correct rating group because the actual physical repair of a car in terms of parts, labour and paint materials directly influences it's grouping. Thatcham pull/strip the damaged car down after crash testing and then create schedule operation times which are recognised by the repair industry and all of this repair data ends up as computerised data. A repairer will then be able to generate a computer base repair estimate for Insurers to consider. So anyone picking up a LBX should have a chat with their existing Insurer so the Insurer can make a note of the change. I went on line with Churchill Insurance just to confirm a leading motor insurer did not have a listing and as I discovered in the drop down model box there is no LBX yet.

  7. My 460 has a sunroof which I have only opened once - to check if there was any rust (there wasn't). One of the reasons I drive an LS is because it is whisper quiet. I have the aircon on all the time and I'm a happy bunny!

  8. Well, thanks for reading anyway, those that did, because of course it was a very localised question so I wasn't expecting a myriad of responses. 😊 Anyway, for anyone interested, I've been to see them and was very warmly welcomed and, I think, reasonably quoted so will be transferring my business to them when the time comes for my next full service & MoT in July. 👍

  11. Yes we have debated this topic many times. I'm not changing from run flats. I will need to reshoe this year and it looks like I will be going with the Hankooks. I note how expensive RF,s are.

  12. Dings and dents are part and parcel of everyday motoring and those who deign to keep their cars in aspic are wondrous owners ……… if ever I were to find a LS400 in perfect bodywork nick it’d scare me rigid to own it …… let alone use it ! Wondrous cars are great at car shows but even then unless one’s fanatical, there’ll be some blemishes I’m sure …….. I’d go mad trying to keep on top of all that prim’ness 😄 But I do admire those that do for sure 👍 Malc

  13. There's not many dogs that would mess with this bad 'un True story - in a cafe in France a customer had a hunting dog under his table and the owners cat came in. The cat sat next to the dog and lifted its right paw. extended his big claws as if to say " Come near me and you will get this". The dog went round the other side of the table. It was so funny to see.

  14. A good point The Car Care Nut YouTube channel made about LS400's was that "they are the most reliable cars in their segment". Compared to high end Mercedes... BMWs... especially Audi's, they will give you less trouble. That's not to say no trouble at all. The rarity is the big factor here. As mentioned, dealers are fairly useless as troubleshooting (despite state of the art workshops and open access to proprietary systems and troubleshooting guides we could only DREAM of accessing at home). Any one-off special panels, parts or modules will likely cost a small fortune and at some stage, possibly even a significant % of the cars value. I think if you don't use it as a primary car, maintain it well, do low miles a few times a year, they'll virtually last forever. But everyday usage, even with superb servicing will mean scratches, dents, the odd low speed accident, deterioration of rubber parts, long-term heat damage from components like brakes and other parts like rubber seals. Things no car in use can escape fully. Granted, the Relax or even new car warranty wouldn't cover those anyway. But make no mistake, these are are the utmost of Lexus quality. It's not a facade, or a box ticking model, every single aspect, finish and characteristic of the car is done with great intention. This will undoubtedly apply also to the long-term ownership and the engineering parts.

  16. Point well made! Also, there seems to be a lot of naivety about Lexus Relax.

  17. That's my RX450h+ one month old now and 665 miles on the clock. First refuel today with just under quarter of a tank indicated. Ignoring electricity charging consumption was over 82mpg but with the cost of charging (at off peak rate) converted to what that equates to in petrol the overall result is in excess of 62mpg. As expected its down on what I was achieving from my previous NX450h+ (72mpg) but better than I had thought so very pleased.

  18. Just wanted to share in case someone else goes through this. I got the NX450h+Takumi 2 weeks ago and installed the ghost II immobiliser. Everything was working fine. Decided to get the Vantrue N4 pro (3ch) and use their hardwire kit so I can use the parking mode. The guy who installed it took about an hour and the car was on but the engine was off. When he finished installing, I checked thew camera and it was working fine, great quality, Then tried to start the car but the ghost would not accept the code, I tried the emergency code and ... nothing, spoke to the ghost guy and he said check the battery, and indeed the battery was drained (on the app), he came over and used a booster to juice the battery but the ghost was still not working, quite stressful obviously as now he would have to dismantle the car and take the ghost out (it will take hours) he said that he would come back the next day to deal with this. He came back and after speaking to the autowatch head office, they gave him a suggestion as someone has experienced a similar problem before, when you install the a dashcam hardwire kit, messing with the fuses and using jumpers can cause lexus to reset itself and mess up the electronics, and the ghost thought someone is trying to bypass it so it disabled itself thus the car. Lucky the solution was to open the boot, disconnect the Lexus battery in the boot for a couple of minutes and then reconnect it. Then the ghost recognised the code and everything was fine although all my settings in the car reset to factory default but that's easy to redo. I'm just leaving it out here in case someone else has a similar issue. also ... attaching a couple of pictures so you can see how confused the car was (apparently i could drive 66,551 miles before recharging/refuelling 🙂) and then how it should look like.

  23. Today I booked my car in for service in early June. Requested appropriate work to prevent Can Bus theft. I was informed that is only available for the RX. Absolute farce.
