  1. I was wrong! Having found the wiring diagram the tweeter and door speaker are fed separately from the amplifier as circled in the picture so no external crossover. You need to confirm the wiring continuity of the door front right speaker to the amplifier so the light green and blue wires. Difficult to tell from the diagram but check for these wires on plugs S28/29/30 pins 1 and 8. If you do have continuity you may have a channel down on the amplifier.
  2. I seem to remember on the LS400 the retaining nuts are 8mm so give them a good dose of penetrating fluid overnight before trying to remove them or you could snap the stud. ”Penny” washers do the job of refitting.
  3. Have you checked the speaker settings on the audio screen to make sure the front left and right are set in the middle on the balance control and not fully to the left speaker? The tweeter and squawker ( woofer is the bass speaker on the rear parcel shelf) are wired in parallel so chances are there is a break in the wiring between the two.

  5. Just spotted this on fleabay, massive welding job and new rear subframe needed coupled with a very poor MOT history with same advisories year after year particularly brake issues and tyres. Also been stood for over 2 years since last MOT failure. Perhaps there’s a Mig welder included in the boot. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325878174214?hash=item4bdfda5206:g:X6IAAOSwCnxlSpM3&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4MvvIrtpvxRXQ%2F5XirtG156cXeg4JgNQPUsyPmz5biBw0WuhDZJWIp%2FMdhsWTC4NFYdUw0t3ixCXSAV0YkXl6F4jpMH2IPyo2eIsFHyoYZYx%2FJPfG32P1p1nL4Ub7UcgWXdjSfZTOo%2F7sINxcSyB1KnT4Qp%2Ff456O1wCxIaYCXb%2BtwdTcqeAiaP1Leotc4C1uOMnbCmPeyizP2qWrWp6YDF6FCRhKavNcpeL1UftSdYk72MCK6bNXQGks3%2ByCqWfwdhCf54edk%2BVUz27skuqG8sCTNgyerwtf0ZrScLpMzMd|tkp%3ABk9SR86Hi-r5Yg
  6. Hi Malc, Yes I had a new front set on my old Celsior, think they were “Ecsta” 235/45/17s. No problems with them, good all weather grip, low noise and wore evenly. Can’t remember what mileage they did though but with my annual mileage of around 2K a year didn’t wear out.
  7. Also bear in mind you may be subject to VAT ordering from Amayama so looking at £120.00 + £24.00, £144.00 in total. The last time I used Amayama even though they showed stock they didn’t actually have any so they cancelled the order several weeks later! I purchased a pair was from Lexus Derby many years ago and haggled the price down to £100.00 inc VAT from £120.00 so another option is to call your local dealer and see what they can do price wise. Given that the joints have no play and just damaged boots you can get replacement rubber boots from various suppliers as another option. https://www.balljointboots.co.uk
  8. Nice first post Chris, great information. Also welcome to the LOC 😀
  9. I bet 2 lollipops and a packet of Murray mints Qamar doesn’t sell it 😀 Bear in mind the chances of ever getting another one in the same condition is close to zero which you will want a week after selling it.
  10. Wow, you are the great Jon Evans who also designed the height sensor rod repair who I have linked to many times! I never knew you were a member on here 😀 Your background sounds similar to mine, from any early age “I’ll fix your iron Mam” to a career in electronics/television then finishing on power distribution.
  11. I quite like how one of the selling points is the “Full size DHP wheel with OEM tyre” I wouldn’t like to fit a 25 year old tyre even as a get me home spare. No mention of service history? Does look clean although I wouldn’t spend nearly 12K buying it.
  12. Have a look for a custom exhaust supplier in your area, I’ve seen quotes for cat back stainless steel systems for a fifth of your lower quote. Or take a look on the link below for systems and parts. https://tinyurl.com/49k5uzfd
  13. I once worked for a utilities company and they “Self insured” all their vehicles, plenty of perks with the job including a generous pension but no we didn’t get cheap car insurance as one of them 😀
  14. I doubt all six coils have failed simultaneously, following Jon’s advice you need to confirm the coils are feeding back a signal to the engine ECU. The only way to confirm this is with an oscilloscope and look at the waveform. Jon also mentioned the “grounds” or earth wires, there should be 2, one from the battery negative to the chassis/body and another to the engine block. Regarding wiring diagrams you can access the Toyota technical site for a fee (even one day is enough) to download the information or sometimes get CD ROM copies from the likes of eBay.
  15. Deleting the codes will not sort the problem, all the codes are related to each ignition coil. You really need the wiring diagrams and at least a multimeter to check the circuits. You have reconnected the Crank Position Sensor located near the crank pulley?

    Hi

Hi and welcome back to the LOC Alan, Feel free to tell us more about the GS450h, I was invited to the launch of this at Lexus Derby (doesn’t happen anymore) and seem to remember they were trying to demonstrate the size of the boot using golf clubs 😀. A few pictures would be good too.
  17. Does it stop flashing when you insert the key? If it doesn’t there is a procedure to reset.
  18. I have 2 suggestions Engine coolant temperature sensor, if this is faulty it could be telling the ECU the engine is cold even when warmed up so could result in over fuelling increasing CO levels due to unburnt fuel Engine ECU capacitor problem this can cause numerous running problems but no CEL codes.
  19. Hello Robert and welcome to the LOC, could you provide a few more details regarding the car? Current mileage and service history? Has the transmission fluid ever been changed (drain and refill) ? Is the fluid level correct? The fault code would help, could you ask the mechanic what it was? Given that the transmission fluid temperature is critical for obtaining the correct level and the transmission already has a fault I would begin by draining and refilling a few times with the correct fluid (Toyota WS) used in the Aisin A760E six speed transmissions. There is a specific procedure involved for doing this which I can email if required.
  20. According to the parts diagram there is just a 5W cap less bulb fitted? 81610F BULB(FOR CLEARANCE LAMP) 99132-12050 12V 5W 2 € 3.29 81615D
  21. Have you also checked your footwell carpets for damp, blocked sunroof drains can cause water to enter the car, stagnate then smell.
  22. It looks a very clean well looked after example with no rust on the doors or window delaminating. Have you had the wheels refurbished as they look very good too.
  23. I think we are talking about the job on a SC430 Malc, V8 engine. Andy I would haggle price down a grand to cover the cost 😀
  24. I’m a little confused here, is the quote for an IS300h or the SC430? Given the year mentioned is 2003 I would say the latter. I know prices have gone up but we are in the rip off UK! I would get myself an Aisin kit and find a good independent with 3UZ experience to fit it all. Just to compare here is a US price! If you say £500.00 for the kit here and 6 hours labour @ £600.00 it’s nowhere near the dealer quote.
