  1. This is from LS brake experience, if the caliper pins are seized, sound rough when worked in and out or appear corroded replace them.If not regrease well with high temperature moly sulphite and refit. I bought individual pins from Lexus at around a tenner each and the gaitor seal from a company called Big Red for around a fiver each so a complete axle set is around 60,00. The seals are a force fit into the caliper mount and it is not easy to fit new ones without damaging them, again if not damaged leave them. There are 2 part numbers for the pins the sub pin is 47715-22070 The main pin is 47715-30060 Again from the LS, one pin has a rubber seal on it the other doesn't which may explain the 2 part numbers. The boots are listed as 47775-30070. There are no caliper pins on the rear brakes just pad retaining pins secured by an R clip. The anti rattle and pad retaining clips are normally stainless steel and a good clean up with brake cleaner and Duraglit returns them to a serviceable position. Finally when replacing the discs make sure the hub flange to disc mating surface is cleaned well with a wire brush then a thin smear of copper grease.
  2. The link appears to be for the later model LS on the 1993/4 model you need to pull off the passenger side kick panel below the glove box ( it has a footwell light fitted into it so disconnect the bulb holder by twisting and pulling). Put the passenger seat in the fully reclined position and lay with you head in the foot well, look up and you will see a black plastic box with 2 wing nuts on it,remove the wing nuts and pull off the bottom panel, reach in and remove the filter(s). For some reason mine has 2 fitted in the box but this may be because it is an import, have a good look with a torch to see if yours is the same. Make a mental note which way around the filter fits. At over £40.00 from Lexus I have removed mine twice and washed them in soapy water, rinsed, allowed to dry naturally, sprayed with air freshener and refitted. Also buy yourself an Air Conditioning aerosol cleaner to disinfect the AC system but bear in mind with the current low temperatures the AC may not kick in.
  3. Hello and welcome to the LOC,enjoy the rear wheel drive in the snow Lexus experience!
  4. Sounds a good deal especially with a 4 year warranty and the price compares to Lexus dealers although I don't know what warranty theirs carry. 850 Amperes is high does the car flip over when you turn the key or the engine jump out the bonnet!
  5. Is that why "Mums go to Lexus!" There was an LS on ebay a few years ago which was originally owned by Bill Gates.
  6. Hi and a snowy welcome to the LOC, The latest versions are available from Lexus dealers at a price but found this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-DVD-SAT-NAV-DISC-NAVIGATION-2006-2007-EUROPE-/150523105275?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item230be04ffb#ht_500wt_1156
  7. Very true,if the government applied for a credit card they would be refused!!!! Also very true with the water, strange how the price of cooking oil increased to the same price as diesel when it was found you could use it to run an engine!!! I think when I pass wind I will bag it and sell it back to the grid!
  8. Hi, I've just looked on autodata for you but they only do US and European models not JDM,there are some members on here with Altezzas who may chip in with some useful information.
  9. Hi, How did the mechanic "check" the coil packs? They can break down under load. Have you had a diagnostic check performed as this may give an indication of the problem, the crank sensor and cam sensor(s) can cause misfires as these devices amongst others tell the engine ECU when to fire the plugs so therefore a faulty signal from any of these could result in a misfire.
  10. Given the choice of driving a quarter of a mile and back in over an hour and that the average walking speed is 4 MPH I would have left the car and walked it quicker.
  11. I had to smile to myself when listening to the news today that OFGEM/The office of fair trading (both government sponsored) are going to investigate whether Gas and Electricity suppliers are overcharging and making excess profits, the investigation will take until March 2011 when their findings will be published and we consumers have paid our winter bills. It takes 10 minutes to find any PLCs financial returns and therefore their profits by logging onto the Company House website. I'll do the investigation for free,OK finished and the results are yes we are being ripped off and yes they are making excessive profits!!!!!!!! What is going off here?
  12. In the snow I would suggest 255/40/17s,well they might as well be skies on the LS400! Sorry Mike I don't have a clue but I can see the reason for wanting to carry some!
  13. The sensor (outside ambient) is located behind the front bumper on the passenger side roughly below the bottom left of the headlight unit,it is on the LS secured by one screw and often the bracket rusts leaving the sensor hanging by its wires therefore giving false readings,if you have full members access to toyodiy.com it gives more location information.
  14. Hi, Welcome as a first time poster It's all here too http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/lighting/bulbout.html
  15. The repair or gasket hit as Lexus refer to it does not have an individual part number list but the reservoir O ring part # is 90301-12003 and these are available individually. The reservoir connection should be a firm fit into the pump housing with no movement detectable,if in doubt get another O ring.
  16. Hi, I would say the best place is Lexus and the cheapest would be ebay, try putting your bulb type into google. I got my HID hit from a seller on ebay and apart from a dodgy connector to the existing loom have had no problems at all.
  17. Thank you,it is very good of you to share this information with other members.
  18. I've had a look on the exploded diagram for a 2007 IS220D and it only shows 2 pieces, the mirror glass and the rest of the assembly so cannot say for sure how to dismantle further to change a motor. I know on the earlier LS models you slip a cloth (yellow duster is ideal) behind the mirror along the bottom and pull towards you, this disengages the bottom clips, then tilt the mirror up to disengage the top fastenings. I would imagine it is similar on the IS but no guarantees.
  19. Nice offer but shipping to the UK would be very expensive plus we have to pay import duty.
  20. Hello and welcome to the LOC and congratulations on your purchase. It was 12.52am in the UK when you posted so not many of us still up but I'm sure you will get some more responses later today Are you right hand drive in Malaysia?
  21. If you want new send a PM to AClex the resident Lexus parts manager.
  22. I did this job DIY some time ago,it took me around 10 hours but it was worth the savings in garage costs and the job satisfaction. I replaced both contacts and the solenoid plunger, this was ordered as a kit from the USA at around £20.00. New intake manifold, plenum and throttle body gaskets from Lexus Time was saved in that my import has no EGR system so there was slightly less to remove and refit but still a major project. Contact Contact Contact Plunger What a job and still not there!
  23. I have an account with an electronics supply company and they do the electronic brake light flasher units. If anyone is interested I will supply these to LOC members for cost price (£6.40) plus P+P.(1.00) Mods I am not making any profit from these only trying to help members so please allow this.
