  1. You have to remove the inner plastic trim (triangle shaped) it is just clip on, may put up resistance but normally Lexus quality means it doesn't break. Once off you can access the 3 fixing screws, disconnect the wiring plug. To remove the glass slide a cloth behind the bottom of the mirror side to side and pull up to disengage the fixings it should then slide out. Toyo DIY has some legal probs with Toyota and has been forced to remove the diagrams.
  2. All may not be lost with the service history. Providing it is a UK car you should armed with the VIN and proof of ownership be able to get a print off of the service history from any Lexus Dealer ( possibly free if you gently hint you are considering them servicing the car in the future). Always worth a try.
  3. The valve is like an appendix, OK while it works but a pain in the side when it goes wrong. As James Robertson Justice used to say in Doctor in the House "Take it out man!"
  4. Its for stashing your secret stuff. It's not a secret any more we all know where you put it now!
  5. Hello and welcome to the LOC. 1st thing is did you connect the battery the wrong way around as the Lexus batteries have the +ve and -ve terminals the opposite way to most batteries so easily done. In the engine compartment fusebox (passenger side infront of the coolant reservoir) remove the lid ( 2 plastic bolts) and check carefully the 120A fuseable link which is the main cause of your symptoms after battery problems. If this has blown only replace with the correct type and rating. If the fuse is OK please let us know as we will try and offer further advice
  6. It will be the link cable from the throttle to the auto box, when I did my starter motor I misadjusted it and it made jerky changes and moved through the gears very quickly on upchanges. When I get the chance I will take a photo showing the roughly correct position.
  7. The stat could have stuck open and now it has been heated up again may have closed and is working again as it should, I would monitor the situation for now and see how it goes.
  8. Prius problem sorted Carlsberg find solution to braking problems.
  9. Latest news, apparently Toyota have asked the Danish to assist in the present crisis a spokesman for the Brewery said "If Carlsberg made Toyotas............."
  10. Hi, So the main underbonnet fuses are OK have you checked the circuitbreakers? I'm in Riddings, Alfreton
  11. I'm thinking about having some of these made. Sorry guys managed to put the thing on twice they are both the same CAUTION_MY_BRAKES_WORK_AND.doc CAUTION_MY_BRAKES_WORK_AND.doc
  12. Ah I see. Have you had chance to check the fuses yet? Let us know how you get on. Where abouts in Derby are you?
  13. More importantly do you have a healthy bank balance before visiting a Lexus Stealer lol
  14. Checking an alternator off the car by spinning it at 4000 RPM with no load on it could kill the regulator and the diode pack.
  15. Hi, Well at least you have made your 1st post after joining the LOC over 2 years ago albeit under dire circumstances. As Rob says check all the fuses in particular the high current ones in the engine compartment fuse box although there may be others blown as well. BTW how did you manage to connect the battery the wrong way around? normally the leads won't stretch to fit and the terminals are different sizes.
  16. Blimey if your putting in a 1999 LS400 for scrapage I would seriously consider giving you £2000 for it!
  17. Most people understand my hand signals to a point where they even reply back with them sometimes!
  18. You must have eaten your dinner quickly there is only 7 minutes between your posts! I take it you were very hungry?lol
  19. Hi welcome to the LOC, Your 1st post and you have problems. 1st question is did you connect the battery incorrectly initially? the reason I ask is that the terminals on the Lexus battery are the other way around to the norm. If yes or no check the main fuses in the engine compartment fusebox look very carefully as they may look OK but could be blown, from there move to the internal fuse box and check these. With all the symptoms I would suspect one of the main engine box fuses to be blown.
  20. Ok in that case it will probably be the switch on the end of the lock barrel, you will have to remove the inner door panel ( info on how to on www.lexls.com) and then you can see the switch, it's not easy to get it out but 1st try some switch cleaner on it and work the lock a few times also make sure the wiring is all attached to it, I think there are 3 wires. If you follow the link below the last picture shows the lock with the cream coloured switch on the end. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/body/fdoorhandle.html
  21. Hi Mike, The only thing I can find on the parts diagram that looks like a filter is part no. 88921-50010 which fits into the air intake ducting for the blower motor. It is listed as a "standard part" in the list so nothing specific. It may be worth giving the part no. to Lexus and see if it is the filter. Just a thought as the motor blows the air through the seats does this make passing wind whilst seated a much more traumatic experience for yourself and passengers as it get blown and therefore evenly distributed around the car
  22. Excuse the pun but they are probably snowed under with work, I would call them Monday & find out what is happening they may even be waiting for a bootlid, the only way to get rid of rust is to cut it out or replace the panel. ta Mark Very true, Another member on here is waiting to have his LS430 repaired after and accident and there are no front wings in the UK
