  1. I've been using the 'Concours' estate glaze recently - after an HD-Cleanse. As morph said, it takes some effort but it comes up pretty shiny and without the usual swirlmarks. I guess how impressive it is depends on what you're used to. I'm trying to get them to put together a Lexus owners club pack (for Gold members naturally). Will report in the Gold forums when progress is made. BTW, i see on their website, in answer to 'Wheres cheapest to buy zymol' They say - Halfords for the SUV stuff and zymol.co.uk for the rest. SUV stuff being for trucks and barges Steve
  2. Anyone know a source of the mesh used in the IS200 'sports mesh grille' ?? Looks like it's a plastic coated metallic mesh to me. Tried digging round the web a bit but i'm struggling so far I want some more :)
  3. The one i meant is in Felixstowe. That's odd, I'm there too .... Spooky
  4. Me too ... Went to see him yesterday about my front bumper.
  5. When i ordered mine, delivery was quoted as 20weeks. That was buying direct from a dealer though rather than through an agent. A week or so later they called to say a car was on it's way over without a buyer allocated - same as i'd ordered but with satnav too - so i had that. End result was, ordered mid march, car arrived mid may, collected mid june.
  6. I bet you didn't even type that zee ... cut'n'paste wasn't it :)
  7. Seems to be alot of people bringing beer which is obviously a GOOD thing :) I brought 6 x 24bottle cases back from Germany with me for JAE ( 2bud, 2mgd, 2becks ). So, since that's already bought and paid for (cheapaschips :)) i guess we might not need quite so much ... Unless of course Gordon DOES make it in which case i better go back and get some more :o No doubt the answer to this will be something like ... You can't possibly have too much beer ... :regan:
  8. Oh my *** ! Look out - Gord is auditioning for Jackanory again :D
  9. As standard, my car got it's 2nd wind at around 3.5krpm. The compressor just exagerates this so it pulls hardest from there on. Regarding official figures, i think this refers to TTE having got TUV certification with a pre production version of the kit. Since then, some minor changes have been made - pipe diameter, cable rather than vacuum bypass ... not significant enough to re-'TUV' but may have improved things slightly. Mat knows more about this than I ... Also, people have done additional mods which may contribute to better performance figures. Morph, Mat + Gordon all fall in to that category.
  10. Had one fitted last week on my year old SE. Personally i'm not too concerned about the warranty now. The supercharger kit is covered for a year and if Lexus wanted to sidestep a warranty claim, the onus is on them to prove the modification was to blame. It's a lot of dosh and much of the benefit is wasted in the uk (Germany was much more fun) but i'm certainly not disappointed. Reduced TDi pricing makes it less scary pricewise too. I believe Vic has a kit on order with TDi which i don't think he'll want now ... You could maybe take over his order !
  11. I'd like to go too ... Can't make 2nd week of Feb (skiing) but otherwise i should be ok.
  12. I'm guessing it's one of those programmable options ...
  13. It'll work out something like this ... Take price of goods + shipping + insurance. Add import duty at prevelant rate - prob 5% ish ... Then add the VAT - yes you pay vat on duty And there'll probably be a customs clearance charge from the carrier - likely 10-20 quid. Hope that helps.
  14. IS430 is currently broken .... but it should be ok soon ... Mat and I helped with the repairs :o
  15. Did you guys try dropping the tyre pressures ?? That'd help ...
  16. Nice one Tony - Titanium wax to hopefully counter the weak standard IS200 paint. I've already been in discussion with Zymol about putting together a pack of products for 'Team Lexus Gold'. I'll post progress in the Gold forums as it happens.
  17. One left foot, both the same :?: There were 3 of me at one stage i think, and when i stole 'the_boss' i felt a huge urge to swear and cuss at everyone  Yes it was www.muchfun.yes/whatalaugh :P
  18. Steve - it was mat you gagged (AGAIN!) but i think he came back as john ...
  19. Well my vin is exactly the same format as uk supplied cars ... I've checked ... No doubt Lexus GB keep a record of the VIN's they supply. They also etch a serial no. in the glass on arrival in uk and keep on a database which you probably won't have on mainland euro cars. Basically, they're all ordered to identical specs. Even the spoiler and chrome exhaust on the sport are fited in Japan now where they used to be ftted by Lexus GB on arrival in UK. At the end of the day, ALL IS200 are made in Japan and therefore ALL are imports ... uk supplied or not. They've ALL been imported whether it be by an individual or a distributor. Also, because mainland EU dealers rarely keep RHD stock, cars are generally ordered factory fresh and won't have been sitting rotting in a field in Kent or somewhere for 6 months b4 selling to a customer.
  20. There are only 3 Lexus dealers in Denmark - Copenhagen, Arhus and Vejle. Spoke to all 3 and bought from Vejle but i think they're the least experienced in RHD sales - odd since they're the best located for the Esbjerg ferry to Harwich and the German border for a drive back via Holland / France or whatever. Best thing is just phone them and see what they can offer ... It was over a year ago but I spoke to Martin in Copenhagen (tel +45 44 94 92 00), Henrik in Arhus (tel +45 86 29 25 00) and Key Kristiansen in Vejle (tel +45 75 85 78 88). He's now left but his brother Tonni Kristiansen is still there - say hi from me :) Also worth a look are Louwman in Den Haag (Hague) - the Dutch distributor. Contact Mike or Chris (tel +31 (0)70 349 1888). I sorted a pug 106 quiksilver from Belguim for my (now X) g/f too saving her 2.5k - Huh, lot of good that did me I think collecting in person gives that extra sense of adventure and satisfaction at saving thousands :P
  21. My 2001 SE (satnav) also came from Denmark - ordered March, arrived May. Only difference from uk supplied is wheel locks and etched glass. Hardly worth the extra 7.5k :) Breakdown cover is better than uk supplied cars ... Includes business class air fare / 1st class rail etc (your choice) to continue journey while car is fixed .. not that we should need it !! Nicer leather document / user guide binder than uk one too ... now we're being really picky  Same 3 yr pan european warranty as uk supplied - clutch replaced last week (slight judder at crawling speed). 1st service a month ago = 85quid. Might also be worth looking at Trade Sales and Motorpoint - they sometimes have IS200 in stock at prices similar to mainland europe. When i was buying, the most clued up dealer for british buyers was the Dutch distributor. They have a seperate phone line for their British customers and supply some uk dealers and numerous fleets. At the end of the day, Denmark was cheapest for me and the salesman i dealt with very helpful. He's since moved to an Audi dealer though.
  22. Sounds like the bar which goes between the car body and door (about half way between the hinges) need a touch of lubrication.
  23. I was gonna add to this earlier that bizarre handling traits can sometimes simply be down to oddly worn tyres. Wish i HAD done it earlier - i'd have looked dead clever now
  24. They're right ... The bubbly finish along the sides is anti chip. It's not on the front or bonnet etc.
  25. Well clutch was done today and it's certainly better. Still judders a bit at crawling pace but not quite as bad as before. Experimented outside my flat with front windows open and can hear chattering as drive is taken up .... release bearing i guess. Is it REALLY sposed to do that ? If i was looking to buy this car and heard that noise, i'd tell the owner the clutch was buggered :o
