  1. Toyota Harrier maybe ?? That's the japanese market variant.
  2. Had my clutch replaced today ... Better but still not 100% Just now while parking i sat with car at idle and front windows open. Let clutch out gently and can hear a chattering noise which accompanies the slight judder. Gotta be the release bearing surely ... Guess i better check they changed the cover + bearing too - not just the plate. Surely they wouldn't just change the plate - would they ???
  3. Mines in for new clutch today / tomorrow ... Watch this space :o
  4. My 200 also came from Denmark. It's an SE so only difference between uk supplied was locking wheel nuts and etched glass. Oh, nicer leather document folder than uk and better breakdown cover too. Of all countries in the EU, only UK doesn't get 3yr europassist. Don't get me wrong, RAC should be plenty but bet it doesn't give business class air fares to continue your journey in the event of breakdowns :P Not that any of it should be relevant - Lexi don't break down do they :) My dealer serviced the car ok and is replacing the clutch this week under warranty. Possible replacement front bumper too.. mine's been half repainted prior to arrival in EU and lacquer is flaking off ... Not definite they'll do it yet but i'll let people know ... either here or under Lexus Ipswich dealer review.
  5. My SE had it's first service (10000mls) couple of weeks back. Cost was about 85quid inc vat. Also had a 4 wheel alignment which was an additional 30. You're looking at about 45quid to fill up with normal unleaded when the guage is a bit below 1/4 level ... put in about 55-60 litres. For this, i get around 350 miles of mostly short runs + another 100 or so if i'm doing some longer journeys. At the end of the day, this'll depend alot on how you drive.
  6. I've been asking around ( bodyshops + auto paint manufacturer ) about the poor durability of paint finish on my IS200 and got some interesting thoughts ... Some repairers have had 'brittle paint' occur on jobs they've done. Cause was eventually traced to paint additives which accelerate the drying process. These additives were routinely added to solvent based finishes without incident but the faster drying caused the (different formulation) water based paints to become brittle and chip easily. If lexus use these additives (which they may not) OR high bake ovens (which they almost certainly do) to accelerate drying and speed up production then they may be compromising the durability of the finish in the interests of efficiency. It's apparently pretty widely known in the trade that BMW have had similar problems and reverted to traditional paints until they sorted it out. Naturally they didn't make a song and dance about it as they were having to respray lots of customers cars and the environmental lobby would have had a field day at the reintroduction of solvent based painting :) One thing is common though. The shops i saw all accept the IS200 in particular has paint problems which they're at a loss to explain ... apart from the above. So - perhaps we have an answer here ???
  7. I'm in ... I'll try and Friday too ...
  8. That sounds a bit drastic :o Won't Autosol metal polish do as well ? Polishes my shiny end up luverly :D

  14. The 2000 French CD may be the latest ... Spoke to Lexus few days back - borrowing Benelux CD which is also 2000. They said latest UK CD is still May2000 - new one should have been done but delayed while Ireland is mapped. Now due later this year.
  15. I was waiting for that ... Mark @ TDi told me it wouldn't fit couple of weeks back :)
  16. Don't worry - it's a doddle. Took me about 15 minutes ...
  17. I doubt it's a straight forward eprom. Bound to be a surface mount device.
  18. The assumption seems to be the paint is too soft ... I'd take the opposite view. I think it's too hard and therefore brittle. Agreed though - it IS a problem ...
  19. I think the standard (17") wheels are among the nicest i've seen. Pity they don't offer them in a 19" ... I'm assuming they don't anyway.
  20. GRiM Believe me - you rreaaalllyyy don't want to know the answer to that question :regan:
  21. I have had judder too on my 2001 SE from new. Dealer said they couldn't find anything wrong @ first service so i went back last weekend to see the chief tech who agreed with me instantly after driving 3 metres up the forecourt :) Now booked in for warranty replacement clutch and possibly flywheel too. Now i have to try and demonstrate that my throttle surges slightly - but unacceptably IMO ... They currently say it's a characteristic of the fly by wire system. If that's so, it's a crap system with inherent design flaws ...
  22. 3 jets per washer nozzle ... Econometer + temp guage swap positions ... Wide mirror replaced with 'normal' one ... Airbags in A pillars ... Chrome look door speaker covers ... etc etc ....
