  1. Guest appearances by Skeletor + Beastman ... Awesome :D Sure i saw Captain Pugwash in there briefly too ... :o
  2. My car's a little over a year old now and i've had the odd noise. Pretty much cured the first by pulling the passenger side A pillar trim and packing it out at the bottom. Another was in the area of the satnav / centre console but seems to have subsided. Another is the plastic trim on the front inside of the sunroof - makes an occasional cracking sound. I'll have to investigate ... Oh and creaky seat too ...
  3. Japan use higher octane fuel than us so can tune the engine up slightly. ALL cars in japan are governed to 180kmh - it's the law ! There are gadgets to overcome this however which most import agents would be able to supply. Some are better than others though .... If not done properly, odd problems may result. Permanently light steering is quite a common one.
  4. Put the sunroof on tilt ... works for me ...
  5. What about 'Nitrox Hot Shot' ? >50% methanol i think. Vindaloo from hell for your engine Haven't used it in the IS yet but i probably will. Did in previous cars and it definitely perked things up ....
  6. Hmm - there's a thought .... I did lose the badges off the back for a while. They're back on as a labour saving device. People can see what kind of car it is without me having to keep explaining
  7. Dealer detritus is always straight off any car i get. Stickers, plates, tax disc holder ... It's not like they pay for the advertising so they can sod off
  8. Far enough that the rumble from the tailpipes at idle induces an immediate 'i want it' :) Had 19" (but very heavy) wheels, coilovers and tte front bumper. Bit tatty close up but then it's a test mule and it doesn't matter when you know what it is
  9. Ooh Ooh i know the answer to this one ... The 400% tax on fuel at british pumps :flaming: Along with the rest of the outrageous tax burden the honest wage earner has to endure in this country. Having said that, i guess the BIGGEST BIGGEST con in the whole world ... has to be that beureaucratic, bottomless money pit they call the 'European Union' Scuze me while i wrap myself in a union flag
  10. You can order chrome fog light rings from lexus dealer. But NOT UK lexus delaers - they don't have them. I know Germany do.
  11. Maybe you should get somebody else to drive the car .... while you stand on the pavement and listen. Might sound better from the outside :) BTW, i'd be interested to see pictures of the TRUST exhaust on an IS200. Had one on my MR2 which was awesome
  12. Couldn't believe my luck when i found the DVLA had ... T 90 OSE for the standard 250quid .... Didn't take too much convincing to take the plunge
  13. Yes - agreed. Power delivery isn't always smooth ... I was thinking it's maybe something to do with the bypass valve. But like you say, reassuring to know it's the same for everyone
  14. That thing we used to have ... last 2/3/4/5 days posts was handy. How about some random numbers in the RGB settings for the colours ... yeuck ..
  15. Yeah i'll probably go for this too ..
  16. So who's this 'work' bird ... do we know her ?? :o
  17. Triple jet washer nozzles. Door mirror heaters on rear window heater switch instead of on all the time. Econometer and temp dials reversed - and econometer more jumpy. Very Very black dash / console - no goldy bits any more. Smooth backface to wheels. DVD nav with bigger screen and fixed controls. Car park ticket holder on sunvisor. Double door locking operation more complicated.
  18. Mark. Have you guys got 2nd jobs designing flume rides at water parks :o Lets get this 'straight' .... errr Your manifold releases SO much power, only 5 of the 6 cylinders need connecting And i thought they were taking the P when they said .... Pipe bends ... 'Buy 1, get 2 free' at your local KwikTwit now  Just teasing :P Are they equal length to collectors ? No.2 looks too short ... Or maybe an optical illusion ... Oh, Keiran - looks like someone stole your compressor :( I'll get my coat ... Night ... TG
  19. Div .. Sounds to me like you have 3 refurbs + 1 new rim ...
  20. I put the springs from a 2002 'sport' on my SE. Brings the car down noticeably without making it look 'slammed'. To my eye, it's now about right. Much lower and the standard 17's would look lost or buried in those cavernous arches. If/when i get some bigger wheels, i'll revisit springs and shocks.
  21. HA HA Looks like the cheapo 2.99 pancake filters i used to put on twin choke Nikki carbs about 20 years ago ... Probably makes lots of induction roar sucking in all that lovely hot underbonnet air Must be getting ready for when the saxo / nova possie start buying IS200's  Think i'll pass on that one ...
  22. JTT - good luck to your mate 'knocking out' the pre-cats. One might be do-able but the other is quite inaccessible - too far up/down bendy pipes to get to. Doubt you can do the job properly without cutting them open - unless they're already knackered. Morph - until someone mentioned it and i looked under the covers myself, i hadn't realised how puny the pipework is off the head .... must be restrictive. I gather (from Mat + Mark) that temps in there can be 900deg or so which isn't good ... except for warming the pre-cats to operating temp quickly. Manifold / header design can be very complex ... Factors such as scavengeing (using gases from one exhaust pulse to help suck out those from the next), valve overlap, tube diameter and merge points etc all play a part. I think i'm right in saying it's more critical on naturally aspirated motors than turbo'd ... the latter you generally want to get gases away asap. Supercharged i'm not so sure - in theory i can see fors and againsts in both approaches. Mark - how about a swingometer for supercharged manifold / header design ... swing towards NA or Turbo'd ? On balance, i'd guess the NA approach. Oh and I hope these new pipes have fixing points for the stock covers ... Let's keep things looking neat and tidy under there
