  1. I paid around £240 for a genuine Lexus radiator that fitted perfectly about 2 years ago, from a main Lexus dealer.
  2. Hi Phil, mine got picked up on my last mot. They were not a failure, or even an advisory, but the tester commented to me that in the future they will require replacing. The car was also being serviced at Paul Frost’s and he supplies refurbed bushes so I had the done straight away. I had not even noticed any problem, but afterwards it did make a noticeable difference and I was pleased I had changed them. Can’t remember how much I paid because I had other work done but they were reasonable , Paul buys them in bulk. cheers, Roger
  3. I think you have to be realistic , it is a moment in time, and as with all new technology change will come . I would also say that maybe not us , but certainly the next generation won’t have any choice , irrespective of whether they want an alternative.
  4. There was also a road test in the US on the Tesla Model 3 over 25k miles and not one single fault was registered, so not bad quality.
  5. Wow well done finding that, really interesting, and I guess you can understand why it costs so much. Perfection !!
  6. I think you will find EV will take off in about 3 years time, as more and more Cities ban Diesel and then Petrol cars. The price of EV will start to reduce with VW already announcing they can produce them at a cheaper price than current standard vehicles. When more charging points are added, range is increased and availability better it will all change. Toyota and Honda and others are, I doubt bothered about being late to the party, but there is also Hydrogen being developed. I’m glad not to own a big expensive diesel, which will probably be unsaleable. I do not think travelling by car any distance in the UK is enjoyable anymore, because of congestion, so I travel by train now. I agree with all the comments made about battery production and producing electricity, but I believe there is now an inevitability about EV’s, which clearly won’t happen overnight, but is on a trajectory.
  7. I’m with you on that. I thought about all season tyres, when I need to change, but then thought when it gets that bad I stay home.
  8. Air bags do not need refilling. All the horrors you mention, in my opinion are exaggerated and I certainly do enjoy the quality of the ride, and if you have to pay to replace, so be it, you still have real quality motoring for a very cheap price. How long they last is probably unknown, but I do know there are many around running without problem, and I do not think they are a major issue on the USA site, although, I believe they also have normal suspension over there. There is too much demonising of the LS430, all LS’s are brilliant vehicles.
  9. Ok, sorry about that, they made a big thing about it at the time, so we all thought it was new then to Lexus. Thanks for pointing it out 😜
  10. Was introduced on the LS 430. I went to a Lexus day promotion back in 2002 where Lexus employed professional drivers to race around Millbrook in LS’s demonstrating how the car handled with vsc switched on and off. I was in the front seat at 100mph when the driver next to me took his hands off the steering wheel and put them behind his head, on the Millbrook racetrack... scary . i do remember wondering , with the car being driven so hard how the tyres managed to stay on the rims. Wonderful days then how Lexus treated it’s customers 🤗👍 Roger
  11. Shafiq, good luck with your Subaru, they are excellent cars, but if you ever think Lexus parts are expensive , wait till you pay for Subaru parts. Am told it is a volume issue, so they make up for it in the price. Good luck and hope you eventually find your Lexus dream.
  12. Blimey, can’t disagree, and all because Malc said we should pray 😜
  13. Well there is an excellent track record to date, across the Toyota /Lexus range, where they are properly maintained. Don’t know what you should do if you are not religious . However this is all a precursor to electric cars, which is all we shall be able to purchase at some time in the near future, and Toyota have just announced electric car development.
  14. Nothing to do with being better built. They are all extremely well built , it is just a different design, and the problem is easily solved as stated on here. I changed my rad, but I think I need to get the hoses and unions checked just to be sure.
  15. Well done Phil, I though you were brave, but now, it is another step nearer original perfection.
  16. Good luck Phil, trust it all works out ok for you, which I am sure it will, Roger
  17. Maybe that tells you something ...or...... maybe there aren’t many around.
  18. We all hear these so called experts, talking about their experience with one particular model, or a Lexus branch saying one model is rubbish but another Lexus branch says exactly the opposite. There is more than enough info on here to decide, but at the end of the day mostly with older cars, no matter what make, it will come down to how well the car has been treated in its life. All Lexus models are generally exceptional for reliability and longevity , and if you want to de risk your purchase I guess it best to buy a bike. Any model in any brand at some stage inexplicably will have some sort of major failure, that is life, but this thread is going round and round, to what purpose when all the info anybody would need is already here 🤗
  19. I know that is something to consider, hips and knees ok at the moment. The LC does look quite accessible but have not actually tried it, I guess I just like the fact that it will be the last naturally aspirated 5.0 V8 ever produced. If that is a no goer then I guess RX450H is next on the list. I agree there is no fun limboing in and out 😂😂
  20. Whilst I intend to keep mine for at least another 3 years, with no doubt a little help from Paul Frost, I think my considerations will be, in rank order, an LC500 ( prices should have fallen by then) an RX 450 ( for practicality) or LS 600h. All very different I know, and I would change now , but my LS 430 is such a wonderful car, which really pleases me when I drive it, that I know I can’t better the ride, whatever I buy.....so I will just continue to be smug 😜
