  1. You are right John, although there are particular reasons for that. However the biggest challenge faced by hydrogen, is storage, both on site and in the vehicle, and there is possibly a game changer in USA, whereby they have developed a sponge like concept which can store a huge increase against current amounts. Like anything else, early days and good as it is, as clearly is hydrogen power, I think it will be for future generations. I liked your video, and the message, and strangely I assess my car in 3 year cycles, expecting at the end of the cycle to have to replace it.......but when I reach that point I look at the car, consider all the facts and conclude nothing is really different from 3 years previous. I spend what is necessary, which has only been tyres, brakes servicing etc. and off I go for another 3 years, and long may it continue. I think generally the Lexus range is pretty timeless and as I am not ‘status ‘ conscious about my car all the other factors like comfort, reliability, safety etc , which are important, are still there. I do not think that the car industry generally have understood what is about to hit them....look at Aston Martin’s perilous situation today. Cheers, Roger
  2. Well that is a relief although I would make sure you have her name, time and date and content of call. I am always very nervous theses days of insurance companies because the only time you find out whether they are any good Is when you claim. You can also be certain that they will use every loophole to avoid a payout. Likewise you must always be crystal clean in the honesty of the information you give or them, particularly where travel and health insurance is concerned. I am pleased there would appear to be a happy ending to this, cheers, Roger
  3. I think you need to be extremely careful here, it is not about opinion, it will rely on professional fact. I think if I were you I would consult a reputable broker who can advise, there is no point in having invalid or insurance that will seek to avoid paying out on a claim ( which they almost certainly will ) Good luck , Roger
  4. Very good John, have seen similar, and you are right, the “Things we complain about” Cheers, Roger
  5. That’s a bit if a bummer for you . Just checked and mine is ok , late 2002, not that I will probably need it. Cheers, Roger
  6. Hi Steve, welcome to the club. I too have owned two previous GS300’s and loved them. As already stated your trip to Heathrow should be a breeze. I think the colour is stylish, just enjoy, Cheers, Roger
  7. I also agree, but on the LS 430 , plus I am sure on other models, there is a sensor which switches the air supply over automatically to recirc, if traffic fumes are detected.
  8. Hi AJ, the LC500 is only available to trade buyers as I indicated. I am not one so do not have access, but I can no longer find it which probably suggests a sale. Colin may know more, but sorry can’t help, Rgds, Roger
  9. I remember struggling with mine and I fitted the correct battery with the poles at the front.
  10. I think it is a case of supply and demand. He can clearly get away with those rates for that reason. If the faulty inverter is of no value to you, I think you have made a sensible decision. Cast your bread on the water !!! 😜. Good luck, Cheers, Roger
  11. Hi Jason, I think your reports are amazing and very entertaining to read, well done. As you are using you IS for taxi work it reminded me of my recent holiday in Australia. I was in a taxi in Sydney, it was a Toyota Camry and had 750,000 Kms on the odometer which I saw. There were no rattles or squeaks and driver was also the owner and said apart from normal servicing he changed the engine oil every two weeks. It was a hybrid, and although I can’t remember now the fuel economy was amazing, driving around Sydney. You therefore have some catching up to do, Cheers, Roger
  12. Nobody was hurt, insurance will pay out, you have dented pride. Won’t last long and you move on. Don’t dwell on it there are worse things in life, Cheers, Roger
  13. You reminded me that I had headlamp washers as I never use them. Had to check the manual to find how to operate, and bingo they work perfectly. Just changed the windscreen wipers, although they were ok, for the discounted denso ones I bought earlier from ECP. They are not the same as the Lexus ones which have an extra metal wind deflector on them. The seem ok and work fine, but I am keeping the old ones and will buy just the rubber inserts from Lexus as I did 5 years ago, if they are not as good.cheers, Roger
  14. Hi David try Paul Frost at Lexussparesdirect 07590 072646. He breaks only LS430’s and has all the parts, is very helpful and has an excellent reputation. He is not far from you, Rgds, Roger
  15. If I were buying a car right now, particularly the model you have seen, I would play real hard ball. If you do not require a part ex I would offer silly money, because right now they will be delighted to off load stock vehicles, no matter what they tell you. Also remember that the GS is a discontinued model. Convince them that your ‘silly offer’ is credible I.e that if they accept you will complete the deal and then just walk away and leave them your tel no. Also look to chuck in more than just warranty, look for service plans and extended warranty included, plus if you want a full tank of fuel, but personally I would go for a massive discount. You really have nothing to loose, but the key is credibility that you will proceed. Lexus dealers try to create this air of ‘we don’t discount attitude’ I happen to know that they do, but don’t want it advertised. Good luck, Roger
  16. I have noticed through experience that very weird things happen when the battery starts to fail, or go below the required output. Charge it or replace it and bingo all good again. I think it is just one of the characteristics , and I am told not confined to Lexus, also happens on Mercs so I have been told. Good luck , Cheers, Roger
  17. I have to declare that I am a total Apple fan , mainly because I get great reliability. Not in anyway technical but I do understand Apple control quite a lot in order to protect the security of their devices, and ultimately my security. I change both my IPad and mobile every three years, have complete back up and touch wood have not had a problem. There is a good resale value for second hand products. That is my opinion and experience
  18. I think the answer to your question is yes. You pays your money and takes your chance. I bought a cheaper float/trickle charger years ago, for it to fail and be a waste of money. I am not in any way saying there is a potential problem with this one, plus I am sure others on here will swear by theirs as good, better value chargers. It is just that ctek has many satisfied customers who swear by its reliability . I had a boat in Spain where ctek was part of the original equipment , operating in a hostile environment continually 24/7 for 8 years. It was faultless. That is my view and good look which ever way you go, Roger
  19. Hi Les, would you please explain, and is it just on the LS430, cheers,Roger
  20. Hi Phil trust you are ok. What are the Lexus models that attract cc thieves , cheers, Roger
