  1. Actually won’t make much difference which setting you use . Just leave it on until all the lights are showing, I leave mine on all the time.
  2. Hi Steve, with a CTek M5 charger on the basic setting you will not harm anything on your car. The charger will not allow it, but it will also charge your battery and it is designed if necessary to be left permanently on the battery, on the vehicle. I leave mine on all the time, and after an extended holiday I used it on my wife’s Jazz, which is actually an AGM, but I wasn’t sure, so just used the basic setting. All totally fine. Obviously if you now know it is an AGM, it makes sense to use that setting on the charger. Good luck, cheers, Roger
  3. Don’t tell him that Phil....will stop our entertainment 😂😂😂
  4. Blimey Malc, don’t know too many people who would return after treatment like that. I doubt I would , but I guess it shows how flexible and competitive the system is. I think the frustrating part of this is that you are powerless and do not get any answers, they just push you away, but.... I think there is going to be an upheaval following this awful convid 19 virus and let’s just hope they change behaviour. Certainly from my experience and others on here LV changed their method of operating, so far, for the better.
  5. Stuart the world is full of Chinese copies, irrespective that both are made in China. Each to his own, but I would always stick with the propriety brand. That is my view, Rgds, Roger
  6. Hi Vlad I bought one of these a few years ago. Nothing special or sophisticated, I think from Lidl, but seems to do the job ok , Cheers, Roger
  7. I have a very compact RAC Inflator, from I think Halfords. Neat, small and efficient and does the job, plugs into cigar lighter socket. These items have scaled down in size significantly over the last few years... I also have an independent one linked to a booster battery with its own supply, as above, but It is bulky and heavy, and I find myself using the RAC for convenience.
  8. Hi Vlad , I do not have a garage so do everything outside. I bought an electric polisher a couple of years ago and agree it is much easier Rgds, Roger
  9. Hi John, well I can answer that for you, although my Lexus Is an LS. I do indeed leave it on permanent charge, and as I live in an apartment with with a communal car parking area, it is in the open . We have an outdoor certified electric socket and I run an extension to under the bonnet and close it completely and just leave it ...no problems . I would use as thin a cable as possible , mine is thickish and does crush a little but no probs and all safe. The biggest problem is remembering it is there and I did forget recently on returning from 8 weeks away in Australia, but I then remembered stopped the engine and disconnected, no problems. Cheers, Roger
  10. Geoff got mine from Amazon, but have Prime so free delivery 😜 no problems
  11. That is great to hear, whilst the Bentley GT is a great car, Bentleys generally are pretty woeful reliability wise as they age and of course expensive to maintain , whereas ............🤗
  12. I think if you use the charging function to keep the battery in good order, I doubt you will ever need to use the recond function. I have yet to see dead batteries being reconditioned and then lasting. When the life is finished I just buy a new one.
  13. If you can just leave it permanently on the car, I do, but obviously not forgetting to disconnect when using the car, which I have nearly done🤦‍♂️
  14. Hi John very interesting and mirrors my feelings about Lexus Chester also. I do think we are in for a world of change and one thing that stood out from our Australian holiday was just how friendly everybody was and went out of the way to help you ... and that was generally everywhere we went. Although like you I am friendly , it definitely rubs off and with this current crisis I have noticed out walking suddenly people are more friendly and I really hope it remains so. I do think you are right that those businesses who stand out in their approach will prosper and I would look at Lexus Stockport, Liverpool and also Bolton before I would visit Lexus Chester. Cheers, Roger
  15. Might be telling you something John.......what some people will do for a free coffee 😜 although presumably you have been visiting to have your car washed 🤗 Cheers, Roger
  16. I leave mine on all the time when not using the car, and I believe it is supposed to trickle charge and keep the battery in top rate condition. I have no reason to doubt this, and from my experience so far so good
  17. The whole issue of electric cars is not confined to Toyota/Lexus, it is an industry wide problem, which will need sorting if EV’s are to be taken seriously. The reality is that Tesla are way ahead of the game in all areas, but predominantly the software, so all the others are playing catch up.
  18. Actually John , not necessarily applying to this Yaris, but in the small print on battery guarantees is they are only covered for faulty manufacture. Allowing them to run down and therefore the plates sulphating, is not faulty manufacture, and led me to buy a CTek charger and use it all the time. Having said that, I did get 3 years out of last battery, which I thought poor until I realised it was constantly running down and therefore shortening its life. Still 2 years is not great, Cheers, Roger
  19. Simon try running through a couple of tank fulls of BP Ultimate, or Shell V Power before your MOT, my friend had same problem as you 3 years ago and did the above and it has passed 3 times since no problem.
  20. I know there is a reconditioning mode on the CTek, but I have always been very suspicious of how effective this process is. As I really rely on my battery, and on other engine driven products I have owned, to be completely reliable, I kinda think that once a battery is finished it can’t really be brought back to being totally reliable. I stand to be corrected and hope yours is ok and will watch with interest the result, cheers, Roger
  21. Perfect for summer motoring........if we are allowed out 😂😂
  22. And that is the only time you know how good your insurance is, no matter how cheap at the time.
