  1. Phil, just when you don’t think you will find what you want, one will pop up. My attitude is, if necessary, pay a little bit more for a really good one, but don’t compromise and buy a something that needs big bucks, to bring up to scratch. Good luck, Roger
  2. It does say in the advert that the no. plate has been transferred off the LS
  3. Agree that price does look a bit steep, but if I was the seller.....well good luck and remember there are plenty of enthusiasts out there and whilst we compare against what we think, £15k is not a lot to some people who may well wish to keep it dry and heated. That then becomes a very different market.
  4. Thanks for sharing your experience, with an honest conclusion with which I concur. I hope you continue for many more miles to enjoy your LS, as I do with mine, cheers, Roger
  5. If you read most of the reports, whilst oil development has come a long way as you say, these engines were designed to run on a more basic product without problems, and I have read you could actually not be doing your engine any favours by using the latest specs. I would stick with what is in the handbook, I use semi synthetic in mine, but the key point is, to change it regularly .
  6. I also looked at a Bentley as there are so many available for silly money and low mileage, plus have been very well cared for. Problem is if you read the reviews, you need a good warranty. They have an awful reliability reputation, plus a friend who had one, a new rear wheel bearing was £4K. Agree nothing like a Lexus LS
  7. Recently renewed my policy with LV. Two cars, LS 430 and wife’s Jazz Sport, business use included.....£379 for both, very pleased with that.
  8. Looks like a dealer selling so would that not be covered under selling legislation ?
  9. Hi Manoj, the first question I would ask is, are you having problems at the moment? If the answer is no, which I suspect as you say the car drives superbly, relax and enjoy. You could have many more miles to go. I had one unit fail which I now suspect was a Lexus dealer on a “health check “ giving false diagnosis (not saying where). I used Paul Frost and got a replacement unit that had done 40k, he told me the car it came from originally was owned by Mick Hucknall. The cost as I recall was £170ish. His no is 07590 072646. He will also tell you what the likelihood of failure is. He had an LS 430 in daily use with over 325,000 miles on the clock, but he does send many of his parts to USA. Good luck with whatever you do , Cheers, Roger
  10. In such conditions , even with Traction Control it is a nerve wracking experience and I do the same Roger
  11. Being a Michelin fan, I fitted Primacy 3 and only can say I am very satisfied. The actual fuel rating was low, but I have not noticed any difference. They still look like new with plenty of tread, so I was surprised when I realised I had driven 20,000 miles. I would almost certainly fit all seasons next time as I think that is the way the market is going.
  12. Ian, I would change that Falken pretty swiftly as you may well invalidate your insurance, which stipulates to be as manufacturer specification. Love the car by the way ..... years of enjoyment there
  13. I vaguely remember paying £230 for one new Lexus front hub and wheel bearing about 4 years ago
  14. i don’t think that there is anything specifically wrong with ‘Made in China’, iPhones are made there as I think are Honda Jazz, but I am wary if I don’t know the history, and from personal experience of what others told me. My friend fitted some said wheel bearings to his beloved Rover 75, did not even last 5000 miles. As I said ‘ you pays your money and takes your chance’, go for it and if it suits you great.
  15. That is cheap, I guess made in China. Really ‘you pays your money and take your chance’ I think if I needed to replace in future I would obtain one from Paul Frost .
  16. I had the same problem 4 years ago, diagnosed as a front wheel bearing. I used a very experienced mechanic, I thought it was left side, he thought opposite, but on information I gave him he agreed probably left. I only use original Lexus parts and had to purchase the hub, at great expense. Fitted left and guess what ..... it was the right. Fortunately the hubs are interchangeable , so change over and all good, that was 30,000 miles ago.
  17. It really does not matter who the supplier is, all fuel comes from the nearest or most convenient refinery. The difference is the specification and/or the additives, for each brand. This is effected at the refinery, whether that be Esso Fawley, Shell Stanlow, BP Grangemouth or wherever.
  18. Just a point but the BP article is dated 2010, and relates to Australia, so things might have changed.
  19. It is also worth remembering that higher concentrations of Ethanol have been used in petrol in Europe, certainly Spain, for a number of years. Not aware of any issues, and whilst I would prefer that not to be the case, I extensively used the petrol without any noticeable difference, or up to now any problems.
