  1. Presuming the service cost is low as you do it yourself? Good going if you do :)
  2. Have been using the HUD on her RX Sport. I find it invaluable now! A bit like the reverse camera. I now get into the Cayenne and find it quite low tech in comparison :)
  3. Many congrats on the RX! Get some pics up ASAP! How are you finding the RX200T engine / gearbox? I haven't driven one yet but a little concerned that it may not have the power for such a large car. Would be great to hear your thoughts :)
  4. Epidemic? Wow. Never heard of this! Perhaps isolated to 1st gen and then only a few?
  5. Only in white or black? Is this a new change? I'm sure i've seen ones in other colours such as blue and silvers.
  6. Many congratulations! Cracking looking car. Cerulean blue? My old RX300 was Tungsten Mist which was very similar. Loved it! Know exactly what you mean about wear and tear. They are indeed family/lifestyle orientated cars but some parts of them do show wear and tear a great deal more - especially when compared to previous generations. Did you get it from Cheltenham? Deal with Ben? They seemed to have a great choice of cars when I was there. I picked up her RX450 from him last Friday :)
  7. Apologies - typo. Meant to say "e.g.". I remember pricing similar up but when I added in the other parts required when they changed brakes the difference wasn't as bad. However, in this instance the markup is HUGE!
  8. And I thought my Porsche dealer did some great markups... Presuming the other place will also include the other items that may also be required - e.f. sensors, new clips, etc.??
  9. Definitely go for a test drive mate! There's an all-new one coming next year so if you are looking at new will be worth keeping in mind. As for giving mine to the Mrs - she thinks it's way too blingy for her
  10. The Cayenne - Love it. Love it. Love it. Truly amazing ownership so far. I know the word is over used but the drive you get with it is 'epic'! It can do the waft along thing with no fuss but if you want to 'make progress' my word can it I've done 130k on it now and the cost of services and consumables has not been too different to the RX I costed up. So no drama there either. Space wise...it's certainly got a larger boot area but the interior I would say is about the same. All in all I've been very, very pleased and will miss it dearly when it goes - not due to issues but now that the Mrs is getting the RX there is no need for two large cars. So the Cayenne will be on sale soon
  11. Ahh I will be keeping my Cayenne for a little while longer. Will look to something much cheaper soon as don't need two large cars,
  12. Thanks mate! Pics wise have some very poor ones so will sort with a proper camera at the weekend and post up.
  13. Well went to see an Advance for the Mrs...did bit of man-maths and walked out with a few years old Sport! White with the ML upgrade and very few miles :) Hopefully pick it up on Friday. Can't wait!
  14. Been trying to do a search here but no joy. I'm after the spec sheet on a 2012 RX450h Advance please. I'm sure there were links to PDF brochures at one point but for the life of me I can't find them! Any help guys would be much appreciated. (The Mrs might be coming back to the Lexus fold so watch this space :))
  15. Saw one on the road in that brown colour. I know it's a personal thing but just can't see why Lexus would think that's a nice colour to have. Not convinced by the wheel designs either..
  16. I went from a RX to a Cayenne. Driving dynamics wise the Cayenne is leagues ahead. It is incredibly accomplished - I dare so more than the Macan (which as wonderful as it is it felt like they didn't want to make it better than the Cayenne :) ) Anyway, the RX though for me at least is all about the comfort. The waft-ability. The 'travelling sofa' experience. This the Cayenne/Macan don't have. It's not a failure, it's just they are for different people :) However...the new one at £70k. Err no. It's a great car but not at that money. If I HAD to spend that kind of cash, it would be going to Porsche...
  17. That cayenne hybrid will easily go way over £70K. Doesnt even come with privacy glass lol.And they don't give discounts no matter what. Not to mention they have crazy service prices. You basically pay for the badge. As for the GS, it's going to be refreshed soon with LED headlights standard on F SPORT models I love Lexus. Have had quite a few of the range including the previous and current RX. Can't wait for the new one in fact - especially in Sport guise. However, I've been running a Cayenne for the past few years now. OK it's a dirty diesel model but the servicing has been cheaper than the RX! Consumable items such as tyres and brakes have also been cheaper than when I was in the RX (I've now done just under 100k). The Cayenne is a very accomplished car and would certainly recommend it. Borrow one for a weekend. Look beyond the badge and you may be surprised :)
  18. ^^ Exactly this! ^^ Plus I'm not convinced by the BMW-esque bolt-on info pod on the dash. Technically it will be great but spoils the dash flow IMO. SO wish they went back to touchscreens... BUT by FAR the best thing they've done is fit a PROPER CLOCK! Thank goodness the ye olde bar-LED clock has gone :)
  19. Looking at a 2009 RX400 with the official rear seat DVDs. It comes with some headphones but does anyone know if the units on each side have a physical headphone jack too? Reason for asking is that the kids are just too small to cope with headphones so want to play the sound through external speakers... Ideal option would be to play the sound through the car speakers but have been told this isn't possible. Can anyone take a look at theirs please and let me know. Perhaps you know of an online manual for the system? Ta, Noman
  20. Well after a few years away having sold my Tungsten Mist RX300 SE-L it looks like I'm coming back to the Lexus family! Had a stint with a BMW E61 and then (and my current car) a Porsche Cayenne. Both fantastic cars IMO but just can't beat the relaxed nature of a RX :) Would love the 450 but a little too pricey at the moment for me when compared to the previous gen. Ideally the 350 would have been perfect but decent ones are rarer than hens teeth so have seen a few 400's that are calling. Questions for you guys... 1. Much to look out for when checking the 400? I remember the classic thing on the 300's was the air suspension so no worries here. 2. Have driven a 450 a few times but never the 400. Lexus make a big deal about the 450 being a 'full hybrid' but is the 400 very different? Cheers. Noman
  21. Liking it except the front. Perhaps with a UK plate on it it may break things up a little. Also, where are the parking sensors?? :P
  22. Yep - Tungstun Mist like mine! It's a silver blue colour and I've only ever seen a few! Another one is Old England Russett - that's a burgundy one.
  23. For me it's a case of thinking how can a car weighing over 2 tons have that kind of economy in the real world. I don't expect the RX to get anywhere close to the claimed MPG. It's a superb car that I enjoy for what it is. If I was totally driven by eco stats I certainly wouldn't be looking at Lexus.
  24. I've got the Inchcape Lexus dealer plan. Have had it ever since I bought the car. Has saved me quite a bit and Lexus Nottingham have always taken good care of me and the car. I'm guessing all the plans you are looking at are based at a main dealer anyway so hopefully it shouldn't make any difference??
