  1. Yes it does. I found out today after looking at the histroy and a quick call I found the car has been parked up more or less the whole winter and only covered 2,000 miles in the last two years so wondering if it's a damp problem or low battery power. Like going flat and messing with the system when reconnected battery etc. I'm going to swap battery around with other ls I have and see where I go from there. I want to know how to delete the current ecu errors on the year of ls. I know the earlier models you can remove a certain fuse but not sure on this one yet. Anyone know or done it? Barrie.
  2. Hello Just bought a LS400 1998 for my mother to run about in but has two faults. The faults are listed below. 1) Airbag light flashes on and off all the time. 2) Rear passengers window closes but then returns to half way down after reaching fully closed. Got to hold the button in close postion and pull the car out befor the window reopens on its own. Put key back in ignition and the window drops down. Is it the switch panel on the door?? Before I start striping and searching for the faults have anybody had this on the 1998-1999 model of LS400. The only info I can give is the car has been sitting around for a few weeks with the battery going low so don't know if that has effected an airbag sensor that needs resetting. So how do you reset the sensors on this model so I can try this first. Baz.
  3. Firstly after reading this thread stop asking stupid questions. You have only £500 so the car will be a MK1 1990 to 1992 with high milage with a brown or blue interior which looks rubbish. Do yourself a favour and save a little more get a MK2 1993 to 1994 model which is much much better car with black leather interior and you'll have a much better looking car inside. You can find these quite easily for around £700 to £1,000 with small faults or £2K for a mint one. Lastly if you want to know what model does what then a quick visit to parkers guide website will do for now for you.
  4. Sounds like the wiring is out. The power antenna does have also have feed from the centre console stereo unit. I remenber having trouble when replaced the aerial with aftermarket one. If you send me your email I'll send your the wiring diagram in colour to check the wires and what they do. UCF11 model just to confirm which one you have.
  5. Firstly Here's the link for the supercharger kits. Bullet Cars AUS. http://www.bulletcars.com/superchargers/toyota/lexus/soarer-v8-ls400-uz31-uz32-celsior-crown-1uzfe-htv1900-supercharger-system.html Please note superchargers should only be fitted to engines with less than 100,000miles on the clock. Obivous reasons. As for lowering springs don't bother as the gas in your sturts will be pretty old and low on pressure and the extra strain will cause leeks on the suspension(Mot failure if it leeks) in time going over humps etc. Just go for a straight coil over kit. Please note don't bother with the british makes as cheap and nasty amd will leek in a few months. Go straight for a Japanese kit. Go for TEIN, HKS, APEXI, TOM's etc.
  6. Just a stab into the dark. I take it the make of pads where BLUE PRINT? Look at the surface of the pad and you'll see a lot of pit holes on the surface. Get a better make of pads. FERODO and then APEC.
  7. This is a very common problem as fliud leaks straight into the alternator and starts to burn it out. A little at first and then the whole alternator unit gives up the ghost. You can get it rebuild with new internals at a local battery centre for around £70 all in.
  8. Hey MANC this thread is years old. 2005.
  9. Well after arranging the auto tech to come after the car would not respond to the remote and then will only open the car compared to just shutting the car a few weeks ago. The problem has now gone. Got home and used the key to lock the drivers doors and everything on the car worked as it should with a bit more noise than normally as like it has reset itself. The doors locked and then alarm light came on. With that in mind I think my mum must have forced the key in the barrel a little hard and somehow upset the sensor on the back of the door lock barrel as mentioned in previous thread by other member. Two weeks on and the car is all good. In the end of this the lesson learnt is that go and by my mum a new car as I did, So she can't borrow mine.
  10. Problem still there when it starts to play up it locks the doors straight away after opening the central locking with the remote. Secuirty light does go out and on as it should but keeps locking the doors. Switches in doors seem OK and as it lights up in the dash as it should when pressed. Have now changed the theft deterent ECU and problem still there. Weather is not a factor as doing it in rain or dry weather. A/E next port of call. Will list problem once found later in the next week. PS STEVE Have you heard of the key warning switch sensor on the ignition barrel playing up? I ask this, As when you turn the key once and press in and out a little the central locking tries to lock the doors. Wondering if its cracked or something as my mum is very heavy handed and ramed the key in the ignition barrel when she took the car.
  11. Just a quick update on this. The alarm is a factory one and the battery and fob etc are OK. Have reset the factory alarm as stated by Lexus and all now seems fine tonight anyway. I did find that the rear drivers side door closed sensor was a little sticky so now free and loose and all OK after resetting the alarm as stated before. Just hope in the morning it still works OK as seemed worse in morning with the dam etc. If not then I'll change the theft deterrent system ecu and go from there.
  12. Before I start stripping down the system has anyone had this before. My mum borrowed the car in the week and since then the car alarm just keeps looking the doors at all times. To get in you have to press the button and pull the drivers handle within half a second or the door will relock. Car starts and drives all ok and once you park and get out the door will lock on the button, But sometimes the car doesn't reconize the key fob and you have to do it by the key. If I leave the car for a few seconds the car will auto lock. If I come back to the car after a hour or in the morning the car will open by key fob correctly but then start to play up again. Any ideas? I think it would be an earth somewhere but anyone got any ideas which earthing point it might be or is there anything else I need to look at before I open the can containing the worms. Baz.
  13. Seems like you've had a total flat battery and when recharging it the battery has dropped a cell, So in turn not getting the full cranking power for the starter motor turn over power.
  14. You haven't unplugged the plug that goes to the hazard switch for the power to the button. The release clip is just hold in a little and pull away(Or push away with a small screwdriver on the clip if you've got big fingers like me) from the button. You will then see the top screws holding the centre bash inplace.
  15. According to the info I have, no other model using these parts show up when cross referenced with other Lexus and Toyota models. Thank you for the first proper answer to a question I've asked everywhere. Royt do you know if the soarer models of that year 1993ish use the same rear suspension arm. Also do you know if they are any other Lexus/Toyota you know that use the same suspension in full on that model car not just the ball joint.
  16. £221.04 That's my problem as just put new cats on the car with new flanges etc and then this goes. If I spend that then the replecement parts are going to be nearer the value of the car in just one month. Something that's annoying me. Ball joints should be no more than around £30 to £60 each at most like all the others cars out there. I have the part in my hand and I know it's the same as another model but noone will tell me the size of the inner base of the cars I'm mentioning in finding a replacement. Does anybody know anyone who's working in Lexus who could ask parts and see if it's the same as another Lexus model etc.
  17. just cut the sensor off and solder the two little wires inside together and just forget about it. Brakes are easier enough to check at anytime.
  18. Does anybody know what the size/width is of a front upper ball joint for a IS200 19-02. Anyone got a new or knacked one laying around to measured? Even one on a car. Need the size(MM)of inner base(Hole it fits) and the base lip width itself.
  19. autoprochassis don't make that part. Any others?
  20. UCF10 UCF11 Rear Upper Ball Joint Replacement. Part numbers 48770-50010 & 48790-50010 Can anyone tell me what options there is to replace the ball joint. Local Motor factors wanted £245 plus vat for the whole unit. So is there another option of either getting the ball joints from US, If so who sells them. Also is there another Lexus or Toyota model which has the same ball joint. Any hints or pointers would be gratefull as google no good in finding the rears and just shows fronts. Thanks.
  21. This is a good one as not sure on this as I work on the older models but as a guess has the ls430 have a rear suspension warning sensor to say when either a rear sturt or suspension fail. What I mean if the car sits to low it senses the ride high is incorrect due to the weight and sends a signal to the ecu that a rear strut has problem as the ride height is lower than factory setting. When you take the weight out then the car sits at the right height. You could try it again on the same hill and see if it comes on and then try it with someone sitting in the boat and see if it lights up. Only other thing is that if the car sits on a steep hill then the fluids runs away from a sensor triggering a fault to say a fluid level is low but once you move onto the flat it's OK. The fluid would be a knat's manhood under a set limit. Just a suggestion.
  22. Well I wasn't far away as my choice of B to look at for the problem which resulted in C having no chance of being right. Glad you sorted it out. PS. Who supplied the wrong belt, If their error give them a ear bashing as next time on another car could end up being expensive.
  23. Just you a private couirer. Looking at around £15 delivered. Use the ones on ebay that does alloy wheel delivery as they are more open on car parts. Go for the one with a high feedback and a direct phone number to check if they will take the part.
  24. auto electrician found no problems then I need more info but still say the cam sensor is damaged. Few things i need to check. A) Have you removed and replaced the spark plugs in the right order both sides? B) Is the timing belt installed correctly on with the belt marks that line up with both camshafts lines? C) Did you set No1 cyclinder to TDC/Compression and then set the aling the groove on the crankshaft pulley to the timing mark of "o" of the timimg belt cover when fitting the belt? D) Have you got any warning lights on the dash? When running or not? Does the engine check light come on etc.
  25. If you have a garage and are mechanics then just plug into it with the machine like I do. As for owning one these cars I find these are bullet proof and very easy to work on compared to most if not all french cars(I hate them). Cam angle sensor is damaged when you done the timimg belt is my first choise to look. Find another set and swap them over and go from there. I can be touchy all depends on the day I've had but further in my first reply I mention the signal is coming out of the one sensor and the ecu is taking the signal from elsewhere and goes into limp home mode, When you reconnect it detects the fault and then shuts off the engine from running. Disconnect the sensor and then it restarts taking the signal from the one sensor.
