Could be looking at an RX450h
ChrisM replied to bluenose1940's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
I agree with Steveledzep, initially the RX450H appears large, we nicknamed ours the beastie, even coming from an LS400, but I soon adapted to the new driving position. Mrs also enjoys the ability to get in and out without bending. My LS400 was a DHP so lower than a normal LS. -
I have just returned with my RX450H that's has just had a 90K intermediate service and MOT by an independent company just over the border from me in Surrey. I am in the Gatwick area. The customer service was excellent and the owner was extremely well versed in Lexus vehicles, being a Toyota specialist. I was provided with a service schedule report and a Visual Safety report, with only advisory about brake fluid moisture content, and the start of front bush perishing but not enough to mention on the MOT. Had the fluid replaced and system bled. Bushes should be ok for another year or 2 before become a problem. The vehicle was test driven and washed before given back to me. I was left to me to remove the seat, steering wheel, gear knob and carpet protectors they used., I can recommend this garage to anyone in the Gatwick area.. There's even a builders merchant up the road where you can have breakfast and while away your time while the work is being done. Name available on request.

Wiperblades replacement
ChrisM replied to DanD's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
I replaced the drivers side wiper blade rubber with a replacement rubber from local Toyota dealer for £10.40 I believe was the price. Fitted it myself, bit fiddly but succeeded and was most surprised at the engineering just to hold the rubber in place. -
RX400h Alarm Going off
ChrisM replied to CornishDave's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Is there something alive in the car ? Insect perhaps. My alarm went off the other morning because the suction mount from my camera fell of the windscreen and set mine off. -
Yay - our 02 RX passed again!

Air suspension, any issues?
ChrisM replied to TimS320's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
I have just looked through the servicing info on my 59 RX450H SE-L with air suspension, and have an invoice for some work done by Lexus Bristol end of June 2016. It was for replacement of N/S/F top mount L48020-48075 205772/Cylinder Assy. £85.00 labour and £638.01 part cost. Not sure if that is all or part of the suspension. Can anyone tell me what was change from part number? Shows something failed after 7 years. -
Witness Cameras
ChrisM replied to DanD's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
I bought a Vantrue OnDash N2 , about £150.00 for my vehicle. I bought an RX450H after me LS400 was written off by the insurance company after an altercation with a large hunting pack dog on the A1.I thought this would help with any further incidents I may have in the new vehicle. It has the facility to record if the vehicle gets knocked when left unattended, but requires a power source as it does not have an internal battery. It can also record whats is happening inside as you drive along. I have it connected to my aux power (cig lighter) and run a long cable to the unit that sits behind and under my rear view mirror. Haven't had cause to use it yet but it is there incase. I can't say whether its good for the job because it only point to the front but might catch a number plate driving off, depends how you position it. , -
Can anyone tell me how the seat in the RX450H is cooled. I know where the switch is, but I need to know if my seat cooler is working. Does it just turn on a fan that blows air through the seat back and squab, or is it connected somehow to the air conditioning system. I have looked under the seat and can see electrical cables gong to the seat, but not pipes. If it is a fan only system, should it be audible when on?

RX450H OBDII Reader
ChrisM replied to ChrisM's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Thanks. I've ordered one and then today the light goes out. Hopefully will still get a code for it showing in the first place. -
Can anyone recommend an OBDII reader for a 2009 RX4560H. The engine management light keeps lighting up occasionally and would like to know the reason.

I think that is false economy. The reason my MKIV leaked because the rubber had compressed over the 17 years it had been installed, allowing water that collects in the channel to seep into the boot and trickle down behind the boot lining material. Buying a new seal and fitting it solved my problem without messing with sealants. Popping out one of the grommets in the floor to allow the water out also helped.

Having lost my DHP to the Insurance Company, I have purchased an RX450H SEL, which comes with DAB and a hard drive for recording CDs, and usb input for iphone/ipod so avoiding after market lash ups. I thought I'd miss the V8 but the 3.5 V6 is quite lively, and as I'm getting on a bit and needs must, the change of model has been relatively easy to adapt to.

Late 09 RX450H
ChrisM replied to ChrisM's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Looks like it was from the heater, travelled the reverse journey Sunday afternoon and not a sign of any heat, worry for a new owner of a n RX450H after many years of owning an LS400 MK IV DHP. -

I believe my RX uses electric elements in the seats to heat them, and that the rear seats are not heated or cooled in any way -

I was trying to avoid going to a Dealership, only to be told 'Yes Sir it does that' -
Drove about 5 hours last night and my wife said that there was an extremely hot patch on the tunnel next to her seat. If you put your hand down between the tunnel and the seat squab there was quite a large patch of heat. I tries the similar area on the driver side and although it was warm it was not as hot. I don't think it is anything to do with the A/C. I have only had the vehicle 3 weeks so am still getting used to it, but is this normal? Does any else have the same symptoms ?

Insurance or not?
ChrisM replied to DanD's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
I Bought a Vantrue N2 Dual Dash Cam from Amazon, £149.99, plus you will need a memory card, and if you want to use it when parked an alternative battery source as the internal one does not last long enough. Have only just started using it so cannot recommend yet, but it does have a forward facing 1020p camera and a 720p rear facing camera and attaches via a suction cup nearly behind the interior mirror. Cabling is not sorted yet so look a little tatty until I get an extension cable. it has a setting for being left and actions if bumped when parked. Whether it captures the culprit depends on where hit. -
Insurance or not?
ChrisM replied to DanD's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Sounds like you need a dash cam, having lost my LS400 as was written off by insurance company, and replaced it with a used RX450H, I have invested in a dash cam that will also record if the car is nudged when parked, in the hope if that ever happens I can catch the culprit. -
Following my LS400 being written off as being uneconomical to repair I have invested in a 59 plate RX450H SE-L After several hours trying to read and assimilate all the handbooks if have a question regarding the audio hard drive and how it records a CD. I assume it is doing a form of ripping of the audio disk , but does it do it in real time or is it similar to ITunes it does it in a speedy manner. If the first option then I have to play all my 6 cds in entirety and then load another 6 and listen to them to build up the hard drive. Chris,
