  1. Cos I can't get to Tunbridge Wells during the week without taking a morning off work - it's 45 minutes in the wrong direction each way. I get the train to work into Victoria every day. In fact would need two mornings off work if I wasn't prepared to wait 2 hours while they did the service... So if you wait for a couple of hours on Saturday for the service to be carried out then there is no problem?? Without wanting to sound condesending, 13 miles is not far away, Lexus can't be expected to have a dealer at the end of everybodies driveway. :duh:
  2. It is very easy to lower the back end if you have the lowering springs. I changed my back springs last weekend, the most awkward part was getting the bottom bolt/nut undone on the strut. A two foot breaker bar did the trick in the end. Remove the boot trim (between the boot and petrol tank). Undo the bottom mount, undo the 3 top mounts nuts, loosen (but do not remove) the centre nut on the damper shaft on the top mount. Remove the caliper to make it easier to remove the strut. Push down on the hub while swinging the bottom of the strut outwards and towards the back. From that point spring removal is the same as any other strut using spring compressors. Mark the top mount and spring seat components in relation to the damper body so that they are all lined up the same on re-assembly. Torque up the nuts/bolts once the vehicle has been lowered back down onto the wheels. Torque settings: Top mount nuts: 20 N.m (14 ft.lbf) Bottom mount bolt/nut: 137 N.m (101 ft.lbf) Damper centre nut: 27 N.m (20 ft.lbf)
  3. I get the same problem on my GS with the calipers every now and again (at 40mph though). Does the vibration on the steering at 50 stop after a while if you keep driving through it?
  4. Be good if you can make it mate. I will need some tools and some help If anyone has a multimeter, axle stand, silicone grease and a tool to clamp the pistons back in then i would be grateful. The silicone grease i can pick up easily if noone has any just thought i'd see if anyone has any lying around. I'll can confirm for definate on Thursday evening. I can bring all of the things you have just mentioned, assuming spray silicone grease is acceptable?
  5. I might be able to make it for a while, depends if the doris comes up to Derby with me next weekend or not, she likes to be centre of attention if she does . If I can make the if nothing else, it will break up the line of IS's If anyone wants a trolley jack or tools bringing along let me know, if I have it, I'll bring it.
  6. Sorry mate, not too clue'd up on the Mk2's but on face value it sounds like a decent price. The engines are good for a lot higher mileage than that although you should prbably check that the LPG conversion has got a gadget on it that helps keep the valves guides etc lubed up properly when the car is running on LPG. Can't remember the name of the gadget though but have heard some horror stories of knackered heads if it isn't fitted. Can't be off anymore help I'm afraid mate.
  7. GS Sport Wheels If the link doesn't work, item # is :260211834880
  8. There is a set of Mk1 Sport alloys with 10" rears on ebay at the moment. Everything else is the same as any other Mk1 GS so I have always used one of the web based breaker yard searches (or use the ones in your yellow pages) and they have always come up trumps for any parts so far. You just tell them what part you want, they search breakers yards nationwide, and any breakers that have the item call you and you pay them direct. Most times I have had a call within 10 minutes.
  9. What's involved in looking after the knowledge base if you don't upgrade the software? I'm happy to volunteer if it needs someone looking after it.
  10. I'll try and sort out the diagram at the weekend mate. As far as the replacement masts go, if you mean the toothed cord that runs down the middle of the mast and into the motor assembly then yes, it does come with the new mast.
  11. I've got mine black with the chrome logos. Looks quite discreet.
  12. I bought a set of 6000K Hids for mine off ebay. Got them from this seller clicky. There are cheaper options available from international sellers, I just preffered to get some from a UK based seller.
  13. Saw an LS400 with an imprint of a Nissan Micra smashed into the back off it, anyone on here the unlucky LS owner?
  14. I guess it depends what you are after for it too. Looking on ebay there seems to be plenty of activity on the ones without a high start price, even when they are reaching those prices anyway. All comes down to taking a punt on starting low and keeping your fingers crossed.
  15. As per the title, a lady driver in a Gold IS 200 turning into Ascot Drive off Osmaston Road in Derby, around 3:30pm'ish.
  16. Do they think it is an insurance job? or do they know it is coming out of your own pocket?
  17. Are they actually doing the paintwork though? Most main dealers don't have the facilities and take it to a local independent. You are paying extra for the privilage of letting one of their guys take your car round to the independent for you.
  18. If you can figure out what is blowing on the exhaust it might help. Hellishly expensive to replace if you need the whole thing. On my GS300 it was just the gasket on the first joint after the downpipe which was cheap as chips.
  19. Should've sorted a mini-meet in Derby, could've demo'd what the TT is like as I might go for one next time (the A52 between Derby and Nottingham is a great straight dual carriage way for testing cars out )
  20. It was a member on here that sold it matey :) Ah ok... that'll be where I read it then
  21. Nice B) Was the car off ebay? I seem to remember reading one on there with a load of bits and bobs supplied to up the power.
  22. Nice one. Cheers for that. I'll need to pull my amp next weekend and take a gander at the plugs once the new fascia plate arrives at the Toyota dealer.
  23. Does anyone have any close up pics of the amp bypass lead connectors? Just wondered if the plugs are the same as a Mk1 GS300 amp. Cheers Rick
