  1. Ouch. Glad to hear there were no casualties. How many years no claims do you have? I'm suspecting that losing some no claims is probably worth it on this one.
  2. There is some info here clicky It basically rules out any manufacturer logos etc with this bit
  3. Big improvement mate. Nice job. B) Odd how it goes, I'd never seen an IS with the wheels you had before, then today I see a dark blue one at the traffic lights in Derby with them on :duh:
  4. Welcome back to Lexus Nick B) Only one GS too amongst the other riff-raff
  5. I don't believe this is an issue on the GS??
  6. Almost without a doubt.. You will still need new discs and pads, the seized calliper is not necessarily the cause of the warping, if they were shaking before under braking alone, but they are warped now so theres nothing you can do about it! even if you do free the calliper, it will still wobble under braking, so might as well swap them all while you have the callipers off. I would partially agree with that. The minor wobble before could've been caused by the onset of the sticking. I have had some serious caliper issues on my GS, to the point where you could barely hold the steering wheel it was shaking so bad. Not to mention the smoke billowing from the front wheel when I stopped. As soon as the caliper was sorted, the vibration stopped instantly and braking returned to being super smooth. On the subject of warped discs, which I'm not discounting in this case, it might be worth checking the torque on you lug nuts. If they have been over tightened (especially if you hve been in for balancing) then this could also cause some problems. My brakes can get a judder if they have been over tightened. Lexus cars seem hyper sensitive to this compared to anything else I have owned. I had new tyres fitted the week before last, only when the last wheel was being put back on did I spot what the fitters were doing. They were letting the air ratchet chug away for a good 10-15 seconds tightening up and then they were getting a two foot breaker bar and doing them up some more, :tsktsk: idiots. I could feel the judder driving home after a couple of miles. Undid and re-torqued everything once I got home. One wheel nut even broke my socket trying to undo it!! Considering they should be torqued to 76ft lbs, they must've done them to 3 or 4 times that. Worth checking.
  7. You're welcome, they look good B)
  8. No problem Trudi, didn't take long in the end either. They certainly look the business and I guess there is a reason for the shape Have fun with them :winky:
  9. No need to do a test with the engine off mate. Only reason I asked was that you get a higher voltage on the car with the engine running. If you were getting the problems only with the engine off, it could've pointed to a dodgy battery giving out a low voltage.
  10. Also, is it a problem with the engine running, or just when the engine is off?
  11. Would the solution to that involve a large hammer? Nope Some grease and patience pushing the pistons back in and out a few times can clear it. Worst comes to the worst, a refurb seal kit for the caliper might be in order.
  12. Could be a sticking caliper, usual tell tale signs are feeling the wheel centres when you have stopped, if one is significantly warmer than the rest then that caliper could be sticking. Or if one wheel seems to get a lot more brake dust accumulating on it than the rest, that can highlight a sticking caliper.
  13. Good to meet everyone today, even though me and 2D were an hour late. Better late than never I guess. Did a disc and pad change for 2D, there were plenty of pics taken of the discs (very strange shape they were too ) so someone should be posting one at some point. Nice line up of cars, some good looking mods going on B) Hopefully I can make the next meet, and maybe even get in the pub for some food next time
  14. Yup, I realy don't get those :duh: I'm sure he has got a bulk load of them in and has got their use wrong, maybe they belong on the front airdam or something, they just look complete pap where he has put them.
  15. Sainsburys on Osmaston Park road is a BP garage, any particular reason to avoid it? Tigerfish - I'm not from Derby (just passing thru and saw the fuel was cheap) so not sure about the Sainsburys on Osmaston Park Road. My gut feeling is that there must be a reason why supermarket fuel is generally cheaper (i.e. it's watered down or something), but I'm happy to be educated. No problem mate, I don't know myself so was just checking incase there were any horror stories I needed to know. The Esso garage on Chellaston Road has gone up to 102.9 I noticed yesterday.
  16. Gonna try and give mine a quick clean in the morning assuming it is dry. See you (and maybe a yellow lex) at Pinxton tomorrow B)
  17. Are you sure it is the slider pins and not the caliper pistons? Everytime you take them off you are going to push the pistons back in so that could help clear it for a couple of days. New slider pins are £8 or there abouts I think, not sure if the rubber boot is included with that. There are also some white plastic bits on the slider pins (which migh be missing on yours) and could cause problems maybe? I just think the carriers are probably the last bit to change as an if all alse fails job. The pistons are more like to be causing your problems IMO. I have visions of nice shiney new carriers and seized brakes again after two days.
  18. Must admit, they do look good with the darker spokes. Difficult to say if they look better or not unless you can get a pic with the silver on the car though.
  19. Depends how big the photo is. If it is more than 750K, then you will exceed your attachment limit. I'm not really sure why the whole attachment limit is so low, as I cannot attach anymore pictures either (i've used my limit up through other posts) and have had to start hosting off site 12mm sounds too narrow to me either way so it would needsorting asap IMO.
  20. Yup, the Sony units do the same, just a security reminder to take the front panel off.
