    Stav did a great write-up of the various ECU options here, and it mentions the Silver Box there. He says it takes an extra feed which helps it work better, and actually slightly reduces the rev limit (for good reason).

    Don't think the earlier IS200s were Nakamichi either. I have a 1999 model and my OEM stereo was made by Fujitsu, just like the later ones.

    The motors that operate the mirror up and down would be another candidate. They don't move either way, right ?

    Yes, the passenger mirror wiring does run down in the passenger side kick panel. It's certainly possible that a wire has become disconnected and that's why it doesn't work any more. The relevant wires are all pink, one has a black stripe, another a green stripe and another a blue stripe.

    IS200s don't have a Mark Levinson system. Unless yours has been added as an aftermarket option :winky:

    The exact cause of the problem seems unclear. Some people have reported that replacing the clutch alone cured it. Others have said a new clutch didn't help until the flywheel was swapped too.

    Lots of IS200s being broken on eBay, you could always try contacting them.

    I agree that it's worth replacing the battery to be on the safe side, especially if you know they haven't been changed for a while.

    Cordless door bells can interfere with remote locking.

    If it was me, I'd just pick up the cheapest set of HIDs on eBay. I don't think there's enough information to go on regarding which set might be "better" than another etc. The only reason I'd so something different is to pick up some of the Philips HIDs which I think Aztec managed to find for a pretty good price on eBay, i.e. since they're a named brand (but I don't know if they're any better than the others).

    I wouldn't just buy a compressor and try and get hold of the other bits, things like the cradle and so forth will be tricky to make up. Your best bet IMHO is being patient and keeping your eye out for someone selling a whole kit, they come up from time to time. As for the wheels, check eBay, you'll often find IS200s being broken on there, and they may well have the wheels that you're after.

    Self-levelling takes into account the car load etc to change the height of the beam, but it doesn't do anything about which side the beams are aiming. So if you go on the Continent your lights will still be pointing the "wrong" way.

    I can't give you a guarantee but I would think so, yes. Another benefit of the lightweight flywheel is that being a conventional solid one, if there are problems with it in the future you should be able to get it skimmed to fix it (which I don't think is an option with the OEM dual-mass flywheel).

    Hopefully you can manage to somehow get the money off the parents for this Asi, and if so then perhaps you'll be able to get those areas fixed up to being better than they were before.

    Good news that you've got evidence against them etc. When my car got vandalised there was no CCTV, witnesses or anything else :tsktsk:
