  1. Diagnostic codes are read with a diagnostic computer which plugs into a socket under the steering wheel. All dealers and most garages should have one, problem will be getting the car to the machine as its not a runner. The other option would be to buy / borrow / hire one. This site has some background. As above, it would be worth asking on the US forums as there's a chance someone there would know more about US LS's (this section is mostly UK owners) and where you might get some more information on the problem. Good luck.
  2. Best thing would be to get a diagnostic code readout - this may give you a clue about what is wrong. It would also be worth asking in the US forums (from the --LOC Network-- dropdown at the top of the page). Good luck getting it sorted.
  3. Ditto the comments above - great tour. Nice to meet you all & big thanks to Steve for organising it. *Note for organisers of future events : make sure there's a hat for aido.
  4. I'll bring mine as well. Looking forward to this!
  5. I've got Pilot Sports on mine - good grip and wear quite well. I do notice some noise on certain road surfaces - not sure how this compares with others though.
  6. Thanks, I saw that. Torquay branch is only 5 miles away. Don't need anything at the moment but might drop in next time I'm over there.
  7. Blueprint ADL No web lookup or prices though ;)
  8. I also use a modified HOSTS file. Speeds up browsing a bit as well.
  9. The red dust could be surface rust from the brake disk. Have a look for score marks / shiny metal on the disk on the edge & near the hub. Has the metal shroud / duct at the back of the disk been knocked and is touching when the wheel is turned. My 2p
  10. I've had no problems. Do they work in other CD players? Make sure you finalise the CD in Nero.
  11. The safety circuits in the drivers window and sunroof 'auto close' work by sensing changes in the current drawn by the motor. There are a few posts about from others with this problem. Try cleaning the window guides and rubbers.
  12. No previous experience but it sounds like everyone is playing 'not my problem'. Best bet would be to narrow the problem down to car or phone. Few things you could try : If you have access to another phone, try it in your car - if two or three phones have problems then its the bluetooth installation (assuming its not a generic problem). Ask the dealer if you can try your phone in one of their LS's. Have a look on the US forums (if you haven't already) maybe someone there has come across the same thing. Good luck getting it sorted.
  13. Came across this thread a while ago - might be worth a try. Note this its for a (later) model 1940 and needs a serial (not USB) connection. Good luck!
  14. We were two of the no shows, arrived about 3:00 but had to leave in a bit of a hurry at 4:30. I didn't think to say we weren't staying and would like to apologise to Ken in particular and to Steve and all involved in organising this and also to thank them. From what we saw (and comments above) it looked like a good 'do' and we were dissapointed to miss it. Tony & Penny
  15. Please add whitebeam +1 for the BBQ B)
  16. I'll confirm as well B) Thanks for organising this.
  17. Bluetooth GPS Pro : no wires. Con : have to remember to recharge the battery, more difficult to connect when you initialise, more expensive. Bottom line : If you only use it in the car, get a wired one, find a good location for it and forget about it. Remember that your PDA will need to be docked for power anyway so it will need a cable. If you want to use it for other applications (boat, walking, riding etc) then pay the extra & get btooth. Note also that the TomTom bluetooth receiver is not the best or cheapest btooth receiver about.
  18. I think its lost something in the translation Do you have to crank the wheel back & forward to make it go?
  19. My brother got one of these a few months ago through his work. He often puts it on the end of a stick & looks inside transformers & generators, live high voltage equipment etc. They are also very good on RC cars & planes, kites & stuck to the front / back of your car / bike (as above). I have also read of someone putting one on their dogs collar! Limited only by your imagination.
  20. Link here (from slashdot). Video is pretty cool, although I've never seen a parking spot that big where I live ;)
  21. I find they all burn the back of my throat
  22. Assume the car was on level ground when you checked & that you had not just turned the engine off?
