  1. 2nd time today - one of the skylines in the 'King of the road' thread is a V12. Which engine is this? Is it the B*W?
  2. I've got a similar problem with my Y2000 'W' IS. Its done a lot more miles than yours (56k) but was nice & tight when I bought it 18 months ago. I had 2 front shocks replaced under warranty about 6 months ago. The last few months its not felt right - noticible tramlining, needs steering adjustment in corners and I can feel the steering loading & unloading through the steering wheel. I asked the dealer to check the suspension & pay particular attention to ball joints, bushes & shocks. 4 visits, 2 wheel alignments & £250 later & its as bad as ever. Its going back in next Wednesday but I'm not holding my breath. I've never had tyre wear problems - even wear across all tyres and fronts & rears wearing evenly (left it a bit late to rotate them though as the rears were 2.5mm / fronts 5mm) I wouldn't have thought it would be rocket science to diagnose but this doesn't seem to be the case. I've asked them to recheck the ball joints and tie rod ends as I can now hear a faint clicking if I turn the wheel with the engine off - hopefully this may put them on the right track. As noted above, keep taking it back & consider another dealer - they should all honour the warranty. Good luck getting it sorted.
  3. We have regular public transport in Devon - every Tuesday, on the dot
  4. Original & lots more here (Under 'Photo Features')
  5. Fairly sure this is a hardware / bios issue. Hibernate option will only appear if the motherboard & bios support it (part of ACPI functins I think). There was a page on the Micro$oft website in the tech help section but I can't find it. Try google search for info & check your motherboard manufacturers website for updates / tech notes.
  6. Whoops - above is IceLink (posted before morning coffee). They do list RX330. As you note, have to try it.
  7. Have a look here. Also lists one for IS300 here Don't know if these will work with UK spec cars but would be worth following up. Looks pretty good, appears to allow control of IPOD from radio. US exchange rate is still quite good :winky:
  8. Interesting. The 'N' connector pins match the 12 pin connector functions so this seems OK as you say. I assume the 'O' connector is the small one on the right - I don't have this one on my (pre 2001) UK spec radio - not sure about the later ones though. I'm still looking for information as well - will let you know if I find anything.
  9. That socket is, I believe, a cd changer connection. Pinouts here (at the bottom of the page). Ignore the 6 pin connections (and probably the wire colours). You'll get quite a few google hits with 'toyota 12 pin audio' or similar I understand that if a toyota compatible device (cd changer, MD player) is connected here it can be controlled through the standard front panel buttons & show track No etc. The problem is that it recognises devices & controls them through a data bus connected to TX+ & TX- / pins 9 & 10. This data bus is a Toyota only standard called AVC-LAN, based on NEC IEBus. I'm having trouble finding information on these. This unit appears to add Aux-In using this method. There are also protocol convertors which convert Toyota data to Alpine, Kenwood etc. I'm interested in this as its an OEM type solution, doesn't involve hacking the wiring about and you don't need an external switch mounted somewhere. There is also good potential for using the radio display. As far as the connector goes, I believe these Toyota parts nos may apply : 90980-10513 "Housing, Connector" = Housings Male and Female 82998-12340 "Terminal, Repair" = Sockets for Female connector with 6" pigtails. 82998-12330 "Terminal, Repair" = Pins for Male connector with 6" pigtails. Stolen radio repair parts - not sure if you'll want sockets or pins? Let us know how you get on.
  10. Agree with Buddy - sounds like grounding. I've just been running my head unit unscrewed from the facia and I noticed some hum & motor noise. OK when I reinstalled. (Also had the radio aerial unplugged when it was noisy)
  11. Welcome to the club. If you see a silver W reg IS200 about - give us a wave (I'm in Paignton) Enjoy your purchase - lovely car.
  12. One downside of living in the UK is no gravel roads - tons of em on Oz
  13. Winzip or Winrar are best. Free / evaluation versions available - use google. (Win XP will open them out of the box)
  14. I believe I've read on here somewhere that the ECU cannot cope with positive manifold pressure and is the reason the piggy back controller is needed for the supercharger. I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge will be along soon ...
  15. You won't get any sensible readings with a standard AC clampmeter - these only measure AC current (usually 40Hz ish upwards). I assume yours has hall sensors / specifically states that it does DC?
  16. Anyone here changed their gearbox oil with MT90? Was there any noticible change, how hard to do etc? Also, any tricks to refilling - Colin, when you say squeeze the new oil in I assume you have to 'pump' it uphill to get it in? I know to check that the fill bolt can be undone before removing the drain! Any advice appreciated.
  17. 1x IS set please, flat black 1x18" & 1x20" with spoiler.
  18. Best ones at the moment (wired, bluetooth & card) use the SIRF II (& variations) chipsets. Have a look at the reviews at pocketgps. Card receivers are compact and fairly easy to configure. Be aware that they use the PDA battery so battery life is reduced if walking etc - however for car use with a charger this is not a problem. The other consideration is that as the receiver is in the PDA, positioning can be more critical than other types, although most receivers are quite good nowdays. Be aware that cars with heated windscreens (some Fords & Renaults) can cause a problem. This is not an issue with Lex's - I use my bluetooth GPS on the dashboard.
  19. I use my own gauge - there are variations of up 5 psi in my area. Although garage gauges are probably accurate when they're installed, I can understand the variation from looking at the state of some of them. The newer systems with pressure readouts in the box (sainsbury's etc) are more accurate in my experience. Using my own gauge, I accept that there may be a few psi error but it will always be the same - so I'm always using a constant refernce. My 2p
  20. Sorry, my bad. When I say update I mean overlay(s). Checkpoint is one of the better POI add ons IMHO (I'm using v3.2). This has an option to download overlays (they call it synchronisation) from a site called POIplace - I've never been able to get this to work & I know others who have had trouble as well - I assume this is the bit you are having trouble with? What I do is download the overlay/database file(s) and manually copy them to the same directory as my maps. Checkpoint & Tomtom then find these when you next run them and you're away. In the UK I get the overlays/database from pocketgps.com but they don't do European countries (except a bit of France). The only European overlays that I know of are from POIplace (poiplace.oabsoftware.nl). As the sync thing won't work, log into the site & download the overlay(s) you want to your computer then copy as above. If you're not happy with Checkpoint have a look at Risky3301's link above for alternatives but note that whichever POI addon you use you'll still need an overlay or database of camera positions to make it work. Good luck.
  21. Just use checkpoint - don't worry about the update thing (its never worked properly as far as I know). Manually copy the .ov2 & .bmp files to the same directory as the maps.
  22. I believe its an electrical sensor on the gearbox. Maybe a loose connection / damaged (electrical) cable?
  23. Just had mine done at Exeter - replaced within a week.
  24. Where does he keep his lawnmower & old washing machine?
