  1. Hi peeps, Anyone here been to Japan for a holiday ? Looking at going myself and am after some good ideas. Might even get some parts for the o'l Lexus whilst i'm there Thanks
  2. Thats odd, in my Alpine manual it states that it needs a lead back to the battery. My unit is a few years old however. @eddieblock took me around 1hr to do my stereo, the hardest part is taking the cable out of the amp, once thats done its plain sailing. there's also a guide on here on how to remove the existing radio.
  3. Assuming you have an SE or a Sport, you'll need one of these cables to bypass the amp http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-is200-se-sport...id=p3286.c0.m14 Then you'll need a facia and a direct lead to the battery. Alpine units require a direct connection to the positive terminal as they tend to draw a bit of power. Once in they work great as i have an Alpine head unit.
  4. i'm all for that, along with the rest of the talentless losers that pass themselves off as tv presenters. seeing as i'm talentless, i'm now looking for a career in tv.
  5. neither had i till sunday, then like buses 3 came along. there's also a couple of nissan gt-r's knocking around where i am as well and i've seen them more times than i've seen the is-f.
  6. After a long stint of never seeing one of these beasts outside of a motor show, i see 3 within two days. There were two nice white examples at ten of the best and this morning i drove past a really stealthy looking black one. TBH i they sort of don't stand out, as i was walking past one of the white ones i was thinking "a proper lexus not a diesel". Then i started wondering about the huge flared wheel arches, then it clicked. Aside from IS-F owners how many do people seen out and about ?
  7. Well not only do they have the IS-F, they've also got 2 new EVO 360's with some "slight modifications". At least they're spend my council tax correctly by getting an IS-F :)
  8. I saw this in the imax in manchester. If you can see it on the imax i would recommend it. It's one hell of a film.
  9. It all makes for a good show off track
  10. I'm running with the tein type flex and loving it. Get the geometry done on the car as well, it's worth the money.
  11. The quality of workmanship looks outstanding. Can't wait to see it with some colour.
  12. I think the audi drivers are taking away that badge of disgrace from beemer drivers. Most the off the trouble i find on the roads is some one in a VW group car, and it's always a 1.9/2.0 tdi :arrrggg-matey: It's like there was a mass migration of muppets from the bmw to audi over night. (Except for 318i M-Sport owners, i still have trouble with them)
  13. Had mine since 2002 and i've only just got 50k on the clock.
  14. Hmm, i'll knock that idea on the head then. Might do some investigation into the rotex superchargers instead.
  15. Well i haven't seen too many written off GS300's, i guess people just dont crash them. I have seen on Ebay USA the engine from an IS350. Problem there is it will cost a fair amount to bring it over. And parts for it wouldn't be cheap either.
  16. I've been looking on these forums at the engine swaps that have been going on and its got me thinking. Would the current generation GS300 3ltr V6 fit in the IS200 and allow room for the A/C ? I haven't seen many of these engines around, but i'm wondering what the cost would be. I'd also use the auto gear box to keep costs down. (by the way i wont be doing this myself as i'm pants at this stuff) Let the opinions begin. Taken from wikipedia The 3GR-FSE adds D4 direct injection. The 3GR-FSE engine is rated at 256 PS (252 hp/188 kW) at 6,200 RPM and 32 kg·m (314 N·m; 231 ft·lbf) at 3,600 RPM.
  17. Yeah that box is component only, i posted earlier on about the HDFury which has HDMI to VGA. I used to use a CYP UK HDMI to VGA box when i had a PS3 so that i can make use of 1080 plasma (only had VGA in for 1080). They dont appear to make that box anymore, i believe its due to the hazy area about the legality of such devices.
  18. Looking at these issue, i think it maybe better to spend the cash on the hdmi to vga converter. Or i have found one of these :- http://www.cypeurope.com/cyp_techpage.php?...p;&parent=0 According to the info "50/60Hz frame rate conversion ensures glitch-free display." It should come with a cable to convert component to 15pin d-sub but you'd have to email and ask. Hope this helps.
  19. If your tv has a vga input on the back you might want to look at one of these. http://www.hdfury.com/ This will convert the hdmi signal from the ps3 to a vga signal and you wont get these issue that you are having now. I have an older version and it worked great on my old plasma that only had a vga port for hi-res inputs. I'd don't think its cheap, but its cheaper than a new tv and it makes it ready for any other HD source you might get in the future.
  20. If its anything like the vectra then no way. Having driven the is250 i'd say there is a lot for it live up to, and round where i live there are getting quite common. I see them on a regular basis now (but i can say that about the is220d as well).
  21. As Rabster said. That's how i ran my power cable for my Alpine unit. It's easier to access with the glove box out.
  22. Something like this ? http://www.tein.co.uk/defi/vsd_x.html
  23. I can recommend the goodridge hoses. I've had them on my car now for 2yrs. Also running DBA 4748SR grooved discs at the front with mintex pads. The car certainly has bite now and i never feel like i need more stopping power. It's probably a little over kill for a car running stock power, but i like it.
