  1. In many ways it feels very similar going from an LS to a GS. It's still a big car. The road noise I would say is similar, many of the toys are the same, I still have a rear blind but not vibrating seats (which I never got to use). The build quality feels better, the doors close with a wonderful sound! Cabin noise is very low, fuel consumption is much better and it's only about half a second slower to 60. The ride is great, roundabouts no longer feel like a boat on water with much less body roll. The interior would compete with anything made today. It's a real pleasure to drive. Saying all that, I love the LS and will always have a soft spot for it! The one I've bought has been impeccably maintained which must help with the overall feel. Seats are still very comfortable. Music system isn't ML but still excellent.
  2. This is the third GS I've seen, and in all honesty it's hard to see how I could have found a better one. It really is just about in showroom condition. 68k full Lexus history. Maybe not everyone's choice but I particularly wanted cream leather. Hopefully this will be our means of getting to Austria in the spring.
  3. Like an idiot I didn't think of doing it manually! Thanks for that. Sorry for not taking your advice on a hybrid but I have got a gem. I got 38mpg coming back the 85 miles from Bournemouth, and that was at speed so I'm more than happy with that.
  4. Hi John, no I haven't really mentioned it but I will post some photos, maybe today if the rain holds off!
  5. After picking up my 05 GS300 yesterday I paired my android phone with the car but can't seem to transfer my contacts. Is this likely to be just a problem between the ages of the technology? I'm not that bothered but it would be nice to be able to do it.

  7. I have to say I thought I would say the same about a step back in quality, but after just buying a 2005 GS I believe the quality is equal or even better.
  8. Looks OK, although I've seen some bad examples lately when the seller says they're great! Shame about the tinted windows, just doesn't work for me. Serviced at the same dealer as yours Martin!
  9. I had a leak on my 93 LS400 which turned out to be the O ring between the body and the reservoir. It's a common place for them to leak from. Hopefully that's what it'll be. A fairly easy job, and cheap!
  10. Naturally young man. I pick it up on Wednesday hopefully so I'll take some pics if the weather's decent.
  11. Interestingly I put a deposit on a silver Lexus today, I can easily understand how a fetish may grow from it.
  12. If it makes you feel any better I can see the reason you thought that.......just.
  13. Too late, I've been up with my secret fourth spare key and it's back on my drive. I hope you enjoyed your short time with it!😁
  14. The one I'm looking at in the morning has 17" so it'll interesting to see how it feels.
  15. Well done, and welcome to the LOC. Lovely motor. I sold my LS430 last week and already miss it!!
  16. I'm sure you're getting bored with this by now but, do you think the MOT history should be something to put me off? This one is just over an hours drive so not too bad, and I quite like the colour combo. https://www.cargurus.co.uk/Cars/l-Used-Lexus-GS-300-d3405#listing=125994299
  17. I thought the 430 I saw today had 19" which would help explain the hard ride, unless I read it wrong on the tyre. I'm guessing the suspension was different as well being a "sportier" version.
  18. I was really impressed with the ride in the 300, and I think it has plenty of power. It's frustrating the way some dealers have a very liberal interpretation of "immaculate"
  19. Took the GS430 for a spin today, lovely condition (apart from a small tear in the drivers seat) fantastic colour. Sadly the ride felt too hard, presumably due to the bigger wheels etc. He said 6.5k was his best which I would have paid if it felt "softer" I also tried the GS300 in Certsey which I have to say felt so much nicer. The V6 feels just right, and the ride was lovely. Alas, the body wasn't great. The interior was superb though. The search continues (unless Norman, "Normski" is still selling his!) Where are you Norman?!
  20. That's interesting, I didn't know that. Does that that go for every business?
  21. I would gladly pay that for it. I'm looking at two GS300's in the morning but it they don't work out I may try to make an offer on the 430.
