  1. Yes I believe you need a new nav unit to get navigation to work in this country. Even then I'm not sure if the heating controls etc. turn into English.
  2. Sounds like a mechanical problem rather than electrical - the brake pedal doesn't need to be pressed to shift from R to P. Possibly dirt stopping the mechanism from moving correctly which is causing it to jam. Worth trying to lube the shift lock solenoid pin etc. if you can strip it down.
  3. It doesn't have an airflow meter, it has a MAP sensor.
  4. The MKIV LS400 (1998-2000) also had 5 speed transmission, Standard Sat Nav and in some countries air suspension
  5. Does that include Turbo timers?? :duh: ← yes
  6. I don't think it will be a problem. The RX300 is mainly FWD and so will wear down those quicker anyway.
  7. 1 - sounds like the pads or caliper moving - if it's the pads then you can apply copper grease to stop it. The link below shows the areas to apply the grease http://www.alldatadiy.com/alldata/AFI~G~C2...063452/82905304 2 - possibly a heat shield rattling at a certain rpm. I guess you will need to put the car on ramps and check it whilst it is making the noise.
  8. looks like a MKIII. To get sat nav working you need to swap over the nav unit for a UK one, but as the LS didn't have nav in this country you could only use a 1998 unit which may not work. Haven't heard of anybody doing this so there may even be other parts that need to be replaced. Best find a scrapped MKIV LS400 and try swapping parts. Would cost you £2000+ it you got new parts from Lexus.
  9. Yes they are that reliable. I would try and test drive both the 400 and the 430 so you can make up your own mind. Personally I would have the 430, a major change over the MKIV LS400. Worth posting on the US forums to get advise, UK doesn't have that many LS owners and you can get better advise about specifications (as they vary from country to country) and the price to pay etc. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums
  10. at the top of the page, next to gallery, garage etc.
  11. Ensure the airflow arrow on the filter points down (opposite to the arrow on the carrier). Insert the carrier back into the opening with the arrow pointing up and refit the panels to the filter housing and glovebox. That should be been re-written on the web site you took that from :winky:
  12. Inferior in what way? It has to meet the British Standards test however it is thought that there aren't as many additives as you get from the main oil companies stations.
  13. The engine doesn't care which you use. It is designed for 95 upwards. You will get better mpg if using 97-98 RON but you need to use it all the time and will take 2 or more tank to get the full benefit. If you are doing mainly short journeys the increase in mpg won't be very much.
  14. If you are on 0% then it sounds like you are fine :)
  15. make sure you turn the gas gap until you hear two or more clicks otherwise you are not tightening it up enough which the car will sense and put on the check light. If that doesn't fix then get a new gas gap - make sure it is genuine Lexus.
  16. An Altezza will pass the emmisions test if unmodified and working correctly.
  17. I don't believe any after market LED bulbs have been E approved and are therefore for off-road use only.
  18. Not sure why you think MBs are more solid. The GS is heavier than the equivalent MB, the E Class, although probably the same if you fully spec up the MB to Lexus standards.
  19. when you say a/c doesn't really affect idle speed can you be more specific? when the a/c come on the idle speed should raise minimum of 150rpm.
  20. I think you are losing it - there are 6, all in a line down the top of the engine.
  21. The US setup would probably make it even worse. Where in the UK are you? It would be worth having a proper wheel alignment done, if you are near Watford then there is a place that comes recommended.
