  1. I thought they are but the TTE web site shows different part numbers. They changed the design, maybe they weren't different but are now.
  2. It's nothing to do with a straight or v engine just how it has been designed. Nearly all Toyota engines are non interference, 4 cylinders, i6, V6 and V8 (not the 4.7 V8). The timing belts Toyota use are also strong and it's rare for one to fail before the change interval or a long time past it. Nearly all Honda, Nissan, VW, Audi engines are interference. My old boss had a cambelt fail on his Audi A4 after only 28,000 milies - under half the change interval and did a lot of damage!
  3. Yes they were first made for the GS. TTE do them, available from your dealer although well overpriced and unreliable. Best to wait until Prolex ones are available although don't think they will do ones with 'Lexus' written on them.
  4. Rear fog lights are dazzling that is why you shouldn't be using them in 'mild fog' :P
  5. If you put your main beam on the light should be straight ahead and therefore when you dip them the light will be below.
  6. Most lenders will give up to 2.5 to 3 times a joint salary (3.5 to 4 times a single salary) although some will go even higher. To get good interest rates a lot of lenders will only go to 80% of the house price so you would need 20% + £3k (fees) savings. Some will lend more, and as Matt said up to 120%, but rates will be higher. If monthly payments are going to be too high look at a longer term, as you are both young, 30 or 35 years maybe.
  7. On early models (not sure if it's there on 2001+ models) there is a PIN option that may or may not be enabled. If it is enabled you have to enter the pin for the unit to work after the battery has been disconnected.
  8. Pontenza RE040 and Dunlop SP9000 are the OEM tyres fitted to the IS.
  9. I don't believe Lexus specified a time period for the cambelt change in the UK. Just around every 60k miles (63k on 9,000 mile service schedule, 60k on 10,000 mile service schedule) up to the year 2000. Then it is every 100k miles. If the belt breaks it doesn't damage the engine so no real need to replace early, maybe something like a water pump needed replacing so you might as well replace the belt at the same time, or the dealer recommended a belt change due to age even though it's not in the service schedule.
  10. It doesn't. You can hear the dead locks when you double lock. Early IS200 always double lock on the first press of the lock button. Early series II GSs don't even have double locking.
  11. Lexus US have already said it will ship in Autumn 2005, cannot see the UK being that far behind.
  12. Yes it's the same for the GS - Turns off the interior movement detector.
  13. Not sure if you have to modify the connector slightly but they do bolt straight on.
  14. Try posting on the US forums as we don't get that model here in the UK. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums
  15. Doesn't sould quite right. What oil are you using and are you using standard Toyota oil filter?
  16. I heard £3k over the existing trim levels which for an SE-L makes it £42k. It's going to be about $5k more in the US although I think it will also have more equipment as standard over there. It's not just about the mpg, it is an increase in performance. There is quite a big difference in price between an IS200 and IS300 or a GS300 and a GS430 so I would expect the same on the RX.
  17. Mine are still looking good, car was registered in Nov 2000.
  18. How about just getting them polished? Don't have to wash them twice a day as you do with chrome.
  19. Another review: http://www.canadiandriver.com/roadtest/06rx400h.htm
  20. There is much more to the procedure than that unless the ECU is still in initial program mode? Give the method they said a try first.
