  1. There seems to be a design fault with this gearbox and it is advisable to change the fluid. Only use Toyota T-IV fluid. If you just drain the pan (which is changing just under half of the total fluid) you will need just over 4litres
  2. Most alarms these days would have a fuse to protect against an indicator circuit being shorted out so they wouldn't get very far.

  8. Yeah they aren't using a manual gearbox Only in the 2.2D, but you won't hear it over the tractor noise.
  9. Hydraulic ones alway give problems - espcially with 1990s VW/Audis. Toyota use shims and hardly ever need to be adjusted and therefore only need to be checked every 60,000 miles. TVR also use shims but their engine needs to be checked and adjusted every 12000 miles which add £250 to the cost of the service!
  10. Not all C-BEST setting apply to the UK. e.g UNLOCK/PARK on that list is not available - or hasn't been in the past. Also many dealers don't know about these settings when you ask - Best get Lexus customer services to confirm for you.

  12. Toyota engines use shims for valve clearance so it's best to use a garage - you need the removal tool and replacement shims available.
  13. I think you should get rid of the RFs for a start. Lexus here in the UK stopped using those the year after the SC430 was launched. May be worth posting your question on the US forums - here in the UK we have different suspension set ups. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums
  14. Yes only use Toyota T-IV fluid. It may be difficult to find somewhere that flushed fluid in the UK and you would need to make sure they only use T-IV fluid during the flush. May be better just to drain the pan, refill and drive for a day then do the same again once or twice if you notice it getting better.
  15. Is the fluid level ok? It is very very rare for a transmission problem on a GS. If you pull the dipstick what colour is the fluid and does it smell burnt? It should be a bright red colour. Noise could be from the diff. Also worth checking the oil level in that.
  16. Am I right in thinking that its not necessary to disconnect the batttery on a GS300 to reset the ECU's ? I'm sure there a 'tutorial' in the knowlege base that says just remove the 2 large fuses for 30 seconds and then replace em? ← To reset the engine parameters then yes you can remove the fuses. However to clear learned driver style memory from the auto box the procedure is to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes.
  17. Even if it's not available in the UK it will be in the US. The US will also auto lock the doors when you start to drive away. I'm having the locking on my GS programmed today to only unlock the drivers door first.
  18. I would try changing the transmission fluid first before thinking of changing the TC. Make sure you only use Toyota T-IV fluid.
  19. It's in showrooms and available for test drive and stock has arrived over the last couple of weeks so some owners have got them before launch date. The 3.5l engine has been built for the new GS and IS, the JDM GS will have the 3.5l engine. Not sure why they have the 3.0l at the moment - possibly for the AWD. They may also use this new 3.0l engine as the bases for the next gen hybrids rather than the old technology 3.3l engine currently being used.
