  1. Go for the Merc if you're doing that kind of mileage, no contest. The IS will be getting you about 45mpg MAX at that speed. Problem is the servicing will be a lot. You'll need almost 4 services in one year whereas you'll only need 2 for the Merc. You should be able to get 12k mile services if you're doing that mileage. If cost isnt an issue, Lexus all the way for me. Not a fan of how mercs all look the same now. Having said that, the diesel in the E Class which is a new unit is better than the 10 year old 2.1l they use in the C class and CLA
  2. Except that the wonder wheels leather clean and feed is not a leather "cleaner", its an ALL IN ONE!! As is the Meguiars OP is using currently........... And....... the Gliptone Leather cleaner doesnt have a leathery smell......... Therefore Ed, you have not answered the question as your answer is not specifically relating to a cleaner but an AIO product which through my experience, just tends to shift dirt around from one place to another giving you an impression of cleanliness and shiny seats over time, especially if the seats get some abuse. For someone that strives for perfection on every car I have, all in one products generally dont "clean" very well and after all, the OP asked for a leather "cleaner" not an AIO! Feed generally leaves a layer behind, theres no real way a leather cleaner can clean and leave a layer behind at the same time. All those dirt particles are just being layered over by the feed, grinding into the seat as you sit on it. Although its easy to forget, the thing you are cleaning is not the "leather" itself, its the polymer coating on top of the leather. Therefore, feeding isn't going to do jack all anyway, it just sits on the surface attracting more dirt (which is fine if you really want to keep cleaning your seats every month). So OP, without getting overly complicated - you don't really need a feeding product as its going to attract more dirt (they typically use oils) and therefore you want a pure cleaner. A pure cleaner will NOT leave a leathery smell, it'll leave something chemical in nature or nothing at all and hence, if you want that smell you will have to look towards a combination of leather cleaner + conditioner OR just use a leather cleaner on its own with some sort of sealing product like dye block and go for an underseat leather smell air freshener. Another option is to use leather aroma spray and spray it inside the car
  3. Looks nice and shiny now so a fantastic result! Go ahead and stick some wax on it now to prevent it happening again!
  4. Id assume the pressures are for a completely filled car with 5 passengers and luggage. In that case the 38psi would be correct and not cause middle tyre wear due to more weight placed over the rear axle and therefore more tyre contact with the road. If you're the only person in the car most of the time then 35psi should be fine and cause no issues.
  5. But a leather cleaner shouldnt traditionally leave a scent. Its the conditioner/feed in a product that leaves the scent. Besides it leaves a scent for maybe 48 hours - the gliptone under seat freshener lasts for months on end.
  6. Agreed, my RRG one is monthly and interest free over 3 years. Originally bought at Stockport and using it at Bradford so yes you can use them within the same group
  7. Its been going round since 2012 as well apparently. That's Lexus making sure its properly reliable before making it I suppose
  8. The Dodo Juice leather cleaner isn't supposed to leave a smell. The whole idea being that cleaners with added perfumes etc have to compensate by being more concentrated. The leather clean and feed is odd - its pretty hard to clean and feed the car at the same time which means its either doing 1 or the other (or both but not very well). Its like those wash and wax products for the exterior which don't actually give you any protection on your car! The Dr leather cleaner is unnecessarily expensive though. Dodo juice will shift anything Dr leather will.
  9. White/red is such as good colour combo - have the same on the IS! One from Scotland right?
  10. Well I hope they can actually deliver on their promises! BTW just found out that there is a Lexus RX in the states testing with a full electric drivetrain. Guess who's supplied the battery packs?
  11. Hmm something interesting that he mentioned which I was not aware of at all was the fact that there is a full electric Lexus RX in the states with battery packs from the Tesla model S........ Not sure whether that means anything or not lol. Lexus also said there were no plans for an RX with 3 rows...... and its just happened! lol They also said that there were no plans to start using Lithium Ion batteries and again, its happened with the LC500h
  12. The cleaner doesn't leave a scent - its odourless like all Supernatural products?! Are you talking about the sealant? Best bet for 200h is to get some dodo juice leather cleaner and stick the Gliptone leather conditioner on top and at the same time grab a gliptone under seat car freshener. That''ll give you the proper old school leather smell for months.
  13. Yet Tesla manages to deliver a "whopping" 14k in the first quarter of this year. That's less than expected. It'll take them 5 years to deliver at that delivery rate! The actual car looks awful and no way can any drivetrain sort that out!
  14. Could be a lot of things: Might be useful - http://econofix.com/nostart.html
  15. Cheap and cheerful though and although its not great for really bad dirt its great if you keep on top of it. I like detailing the outside but my interior gets left due to time shortage and therefore I tend to go for the Dodo juice spray as I find it much easier to use The Dodo juice cleaner is infinitely better though... even takes biro out of leather
  16. Just to add to Davids very comprehensive list of answers : 1. No need to adjust the lights as the beam is symmetrical unlike some cases where the left beam goes further 2. The car will automatically level the lights according to vehicle height so nothing to worry about there :) 3. Can't help with this one im afraid
  17. Just been on the phone to my mate at Lexus so can provide an update for you DJP He says it is indeed the 3.5l V6 from the IS300 AWD. Therefore, it'll have 255hp and 320nm of torque running through the 6 speed Aisin transmission. The 200t has 235hp and 350nm of torque in comparison. Expect 0-60mph times to be slightly better at 6.5s but the main aim of the car is to provide customers with a nice sound and better NVH. No news on pricing though but I'd expect it to be highee than the 200t. Interesting times ahead, lots of things happening at Lexus right now most of which I can't mention but oops there's a twin turbo on the way, and a new CT
  18. You're not going to get any real scent with leather cleaners. Conditioners like Gliptone leather conditioner will give you that leathery smell. Failing that, get a gliptone under seat air freshener. Lasts for ages and smells like proper leather! I personally use dodo juice leather cleaner to clean the seats and I stick gliptone leather conditioner on top although it's not needed I don't rate the Gliptone cleaner that well though. Only any good for maintenance and takes too long to apply as its a syrup. Dodo juice is spray and agitate with a brush directly. Takes maybe half an hour to do the whole car. With gliptone it can take an hour doing it properly i.e apply gliptone, brush it on all the seats well, remove with damp cloth etc. It can't handle any real dirt either.
  19. Nice MPG there! I usually get about 33-34 on 1 hour trips. Will see if a 3-4 hour trip will get any better
  20. Honestly not sure. Lexus do some things weird so I wouldn't be surprised if they bought the NX300 with the 3.5l from the states pushing out 255hp. That might be plenty for the NX though considering the 200t does 60mph in 7s. However they've also come out with GS 300 for the US and Canada which would be a little odd
  21. Most likely not. Its NX300 written exactly like that. If it was a hybrid it'd have a h on the end. Its definitely some sort of naturally aspirated V6
  22. Thats completely normal, its the part that people sit on when getting out of the car so will crease. Look at any car with genuine leather and it will have this. My RX is pretty bad. Its not the leather being too loose, its usually the foam that has flattened. Completely normal. The F-Sport seats wear quite well due to their injection foam system but AFAIK the other grades dont get this
  23. Thats normal wear and tear - Theyre doing you a huge favour just by changing it. You are essentially rubbing excessively on the seat bolster when getting in and out. Leather does stretch and also, the bolster will be getting this kind of wear. My wife has 11k on her IS, it gets used day in and day out for regular very short trips and its also the F-Sport so has bigger bolsters. Very little wear - almost brand new apart from creasing which is normal Lexus use very soft leather and as a result you get this - you wont get this problem with cheap Dakota BMW leather as its so tough but you definitely will with their Merino leather which is higher quality.
  24. You are correct, the reservations aren't transferable. The idea is to get the car delivered and then sell it. I do like the idea of an NX300. It seems certain that itll be a V6 for those who want extra refinement. Perfect for me then, but I also need a good spec on the F-Sport models including memory seats and HUD availability!
