  1. I also use fully sythetic 5w/30 which I got from euro car parts last time. Its not exactly cheap but what price piece of mind. Also got my oil and air filters from them plus long life 5 year red anti freeze too.
  2. Haha Mike, I knew you would pick me up on that lol. No pain experienced luckily!
  3. Hi. Is yours a pre 95? Cos I believe they have smaller calipers.
  4. As per previous posts, the throttle body is dead easy to clean, I took mine off completely which made it a doddle to clean, whole job took only an hour and most of that was the cleaning. Remember to get a new gasket, my local toyota dealer ordered one in for me and it only cost about £3. I no longer have the stalling after coming off a motorway run problem, ahhh tis bliss :o)
  5. I would check the bumper mounts as when I was rear ended (don't say it bluesman lol) everything looked OK on my old omega. On further investigation mounts had been damaged a bit but enough for rust to set in had I not corrected it quickly and you never know when you will need that impact absorption should, god forbid, someone shunts you way harder.
  6. Thanks for that. I've just changed my discs and didn't have the vibration before so I think I will whip the wheels off and check all is ok still.
  7. www.strutsdirect.co.uk Less than £50 delivered. Easy to fit and great service plus I got my brolly back :-)
  8. I can't say that I agree about not flushing an engine to remove built up deposits. It is precisely these build ups that restrict oil flow and in turn can cause extra and uneven wear. I have used engine flush a few times and have never had anything but a smooth running engine afterwards. It would seem odd that they are still for sale if they did indeed trash engines by doing the opposite of what they say on the tin. Having said all that, if lexii was just started momentarily this could explain the slight oil starvation diagnosis. This incidentally is why personally I use the more expensive oil as they claim to have a protective layer that helps protect on a cold start etc, whether it does or not I hope never to find out :-) Hope all goes well Malc and you have more heart stopping moments.
  9. Does anyone know if those alloys pictured above would clear the calipers on a mk3 ls400? I'm always confused by what fits what etc.
  10. Possibly a good engine oil cleaner just before you change the oil would do some good. A previous Toyota club I was a member of had members who swore by putting half a pint of diesel, yes you read that right, in the oil before changing the oil. I was told the engine flush you buy is based on diesel whether this true or not I could not confirm but I heard it many times.
  11. Is it just me or is that text a very very light yellow or do I need new specs?
  12. I've just replaced all four discs and pads cost around £250 ish. I didn't go for cheap ones from ebay although I was tempted, I got the Pagid ones from euro car parts but if they are good enough for Aston Martin merc amongst other they will do for me. I don't know if you have a euro car parts down there but there used to be a gsf in stonehouse if memory serves.
  13. Cheers for that info. I thought they had to fit it somewhere there was a strong metal bracing or have they fitted a metal bracket or something?
  14. Congratulations on your purchase. You don't know it yet but you have just become a Lexus owner forever :-) Once bitten by the smiley bug you won't want to go back. Lots of owners convert to lpg thus removing the fuel issue somewhat. Lpg is my next job once I've saved up a bit. Anyway, welcome to the club.
  15. Congrats on your conversion enjoy the cheap motoring feeling. As a matter of interest, where did profess fit the filler?
  16. Nice wheels Steve. They look similar to the ones that were on my old supercharged xedos 9. I like the more closed type like the later 430 alloys but I never see them for sale when I actually have any cash!
  17. Was it a mk3 or 4 Martin? Don't suppose you have a piccy do you please?
  18. The mk3's should however I believe the mk 1 & 2's had smaller calipers but I'm happy to be corrected.
  19. Is it possible for a torque wrench to be faulty?! That's a lot of shearing going on there fella! Either that or you have arms like a gorilla :-)
  20. Some good points made about the low mileage possibly causing more problems than expected, so I think this thread may be of use to someone. I also like these kind of threads but then, I am nosey :-)
  21. Excellent tip thankyou. Do you happen to have a link to the pictorial you mentioned please. Cheers Pete
