  1. The thing is with these engines and the brand, they want the car to feel like it was new even with 100k on the clock. I have driven cars with 35k on the clock and they felt tired but my GS with plenty of mileage ran silky smooth. Thats also the benefit with the petrol it is a smooth engine, refined not noisy either. I hope is200 newbie its plain sailing for you now, all the niggles are gone and she'll put a smile on your face :)
  2. I have had two IS250, one was an SE manual and the one now is fully loaded. Both have been near enough problem free the first one has rear brake caliper sticking (common) and this one has a flicker from the xenon which was fixed FOC. Overall I have been pretty happy, I had a GS300 MK3 after my first IS and that was like driving a luxury jet, just floated on the road. I did deviate away from Lexus and look whats happened I'm back, I do think there a good brand, I know the above post has had some problems, fingers crossed for him problem free now, but I do think the majority of the 250's are solid.
  3. Had this happen on my first IS250 at 42k and then my GS300 at 67k, so sort of expecting it to happen again with this one at some point.
  4. Sorry for the late reply, was about 40 minutes at a main dealer.
  5. I had to pretty much slam the anchors on earlier today as someone pulled out in front of me, I came to a complete stop, but when I went to pull away, nothing! It had stalled, the stop start button was red? Started up and was fine, very strange its an Auto too? Anyone heard of this or had this problem?
  6. I had one of my dipped beams done that was £33 for the bulb not sure about yours I wouldn't of thought it would be too much.
  7. I used to use Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic 5w30 on my GS300 and ran perfectly well.
  8. Refinement and relaxation plus the silly amounts of gadgets on board as well.
  9. 54' Vauxhall Astra 1.4 06' Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 55' Lexus IS250 SE 2.5 55' Lexus GS300 SE-L 3.0 61' Alfa Romeo Guilietta 1.4T 07' Lexus IS250 SE-L MM 2.5 Missed my lexus so went back, having said that the Alfa was so much fun to drive.
  10. Does anyone know if a IS250 f-sport gear shifter will fit a GS300 mk3, as they look like they just screw on?
  11. I can only speak for the GS300, it has an extremely smooth power delivery throughout the rev range, and yes the engine is 245bhp. I guess going for the V8 will limit you probably to a lower reg, because when I was looking all I could find was 05/55 so not sure how many were made later? Some of the earlier SE's have 18 inch wheels and sunroof like the later SEL's.
  12. Well nothing to compete here but mine I bought with 56k and now has 78,120miles, and with peoples mileage here does make you feel like the car is going to last a long time. My last IS250 had 152,000 when I sold it and was still going strong.
  13. I had a set of Yokohama Advan Sports on my last Lexus IS250 and they were fantastic. They seemed brilliant in the wet too, currently running Avon's on my GS300 which are also pretty good in the wet but can cause the car to be tail happy at the back if you plant your foot down to early for a quicker get away at a junction for example. I know at Lexus when I have used both the Dunlops and the bridgestone Potenza's the Dunlops seemed a better all round tyre.
  14. I can make it if thats ok? Would be just for the day though.
  15. Hi, I'm looking to replace my disc and pads, but wanted to know if there is anything better on the market than the genuine Lexus ones supplied? I was thinking about getting red stuff pads and would of like some drilled or grooved discs? Its for a GS300 Mk3. Thanks
  16. One of my headlights has got a bit tatty looking slightly yellow tinge sort of tarnish to it, which just washing does not remove. I have heard that sand paper can clean it up to look like new again how true is this?
  17. I was looking to upgrade my 17's to 18's/19's, I've noticed on the rears it has larger tyres. Does this mean the alloys on the back are larger?
  18. Been thinking about getting a custom exhaust fitted, now would it sound silly on a lexus and what sort of tone should I ask for it I do go ahead with it? Anyone else have a custom system they can recommend ora company?
