  1. It didn't have a limited slip differential, or the Sport tints. Apart from that I believe the Special Edition had everything else the Sport had, including the leather and Alcantara suede seats. The only real difference was it had the Satnav as a standard fitment instead of an extra cost option. Isn't it one insurance group lower than the Sport? correct. The IS200 Sport, IS200 Limited Edition and IS200 Sportcross are all 13E. All other IS200 models (including the SE) are rated as 12E. Interestingly, the new IS250 SE and IS250 Sport are both rated at 14E.
  2. do the normal checks as you would with any car. however, bear in mind that it might look mint, but it's done over 100k miles, is 12 years old, and most likely the suspension will require an overhaul, and LS400 suspensions are not cheap to fix up! engines and gearboxes are bulletproof up to 500k tho. don't even think about buying a LS400 of that age and mileage without getting someone you trust to inspect it, unless you are a mechanic and know what to look for.
  3. Welcome. A very, very interesting development.
  4. Tyger, are you going to arrange us a LOC group buy on iphones from 11th July?
  5. Randomly? You are the one who wouldn't answer my request for iphone sales figures when I asked for supporting evidence to back up your statement that the iphone has decimated the mobile phone market. I'm not trading in opinions, but facts. "According to Jupiter Research, fewer than 350,000 of the five million iPhones sold so far were bought in Europe. " "Today a queue of some 60 people formed outside Apple's flagship store, on 5th Avenue in New York, in anticipation of the launch." Source: iphone launch rumours
  6. I think you're confused, they don't give them away free, networks subsidise them and we pay for them through our contracts......... 100% accurate matey. The networks subsidise the price of handsets as that's the way that the market has developed here in the UK. We are so used to getting "free" phones of whatever brand by taking out a new 12/18month contract.
  7. When the iPhone was released last year, eager consumers waited on line for days to get a crack at buying one of the first ones. A year later, Apple says it's sold over 5 million iPhones. That pales in comparison with competitors. Windows Mobile, which provides software for phones from HTC, Samsung, Palm and others, says it will sell 20 million phones this year. About 1 billion cellphones are sold every year. No. 1 manufacturer Nokia, for instance, sells more cellphones in a week than Apple has shipped to date. According to researcher Gartner, Nokia sold 435 million cellphones in 2007. Munster says the "real verdict" on the iPhone's success hasn't been reached. "The numbers are too small to call a home run." Source: USA Today Article 9th June 2008 iphone article
  8. Where are the sales figures in the UK to support your statement?
  9. Naaa mate, you are wrong about America. It's not illegal to drive a car barefoot there, and neither is it in the UK.
  10. But your leccy seat buttons would be on the wrong side and maybe difficult to reach? Buy a new one from Lexus? haha..get a quote, but not likely to be cheap. Why not find a GS with lower miles that is at a salvage yard and get the seat from there. HTH.
  11. Only if they offered 20 inch chrome rims as a factory option.
  12. there are lots of rumours floating around from subsidised handsets for free provided you take an O2 contract, to 100 quid for a handset to kickstart sales..5MP cam, GPS, these are all possibilities..
  13. Very very weird logic! There should be no niggles and problems when you get your car worked on, regardless of labour rate.
  14. 9th June..Just 3 days time.. Anyone looking forward to getting hold of one? Allegedly, they will be sold unlocked in Italy and Belgium.
  15. I like those rims actually. Not sure if they will fit, but will be interesting to see the pics once they get fitted. imho, 20s on an IS would "look" way out of proportion due to the size of the car. Plus, your acceleration would be far slower once you put 20s on! Good Luck!
  16. Auction sites in Japan? I'm assuming you can't pick one up from America? Have you tried Clubaristo.net too?
  17. You could try a test. Keep the heated seats on all week. The next week, don't switch the heated seats on at all. You could report back the difference in mpg.
  18. A lot of cash matey! I paid 50 quid for a pair of brand new genuine Lexus GS balljoints and had them shipped over from America for 15 quid! I bought em off a member of ClubLexus. You obviously got money to burn!
  19. Bargain of the week! Welcome!
  20. To be honest, apart from the wheel bearing you're gonna have to buy the parts from Lexus UK, especially since yours is a DHP version. Whether you get Lexus to fit the parts or another garage, is your choice. Personally, when I had my LS suspension problems, I bought all the parts from a Lexus dealer in the States and got them fitted by an independent garage here. I still don't know what radius arms are, but from the price quoted, it doesn't sound like either the upper or lower control arm. I got a wheel bearing for my GS from www.japarts.co.uk, and it fitted fine. It was an aftermarket company in Japan that had made the bearing. You're not going to find many aftermarket parts for LS400s in the UK, considering around 300 were sold each year. Not enough demand for them.
  21. If you want POWER, get an Aristo or a Supra.
  22. People can often drive like idiots regardless of their age or brand of car. Just because they own a Lexus RX doesn't mean they will drive like Miss Daisy. All you can do is move over and let them continue on their crazy journey.
