  1. I agree with you. When I got my lower ball joints changed on the GS, the guy told me that they will try and mark everything up, so that it all goes back in the same position. However, ideally, any suspension components that get replaced warrant getting the alignment/geometry checked out. Fight your corner mate, it totally upsets me when you pick a car up from a dealer, they are supposed to have checked it prior to giving it back to you, and it's got problems that a monkey could have spotted.
  2. auto dipping mirrors..pah, who needs em! just get limo tint on your rear screen
  3. I used to have them on the driver's mirror when cars didn't come with that 20% of the mirror after the line where it acts as a blind spot mirror.. Useful..im sure you see them on certain police cars too.
  4. I never heard anything about problems with LS430s either, certainly not like the LS400 (wishbones, black LCD, twisted driver's seat). That's because you drive a Honda. The problems you list are the older ls400's and not the ones I'm talking about, Look at the dates of models. Also if you have a quick look down a few pages of threads you might start to see the ones I'm on about. haha..i used to have a LS400 matey, and I still have a keen interest in the LS models..seriously tho, all Pete has asked for is a linky to the problems coz neither of us have found stuff using the search function.
  5. 70k is NOT high mileage for Toyota cars, especially Lexus models.
  6. what tyres u got on the back? tyres that are worn out or tyres with crap grip are a BIG factor in the back sliding out..

  8. Nice!!! The mk1 GS Sport looks even better as it gets older!
  9. Thats looks good for me to (29-31), as it now looks like jae will not let me take my Audi in :o Leaving Fri 29th August, coming back Mon 1st Sep. At the moment, leaving around 2pm on Friday from Folkestone, taking the 4pm train back on Monday, is costing £114 for the crossing. I'd also like to propose staying somewhere closer to the Ring itself (who is up for camping?), in a move to save a bit of cash and have a different experience. If we can get the costs down, it does mean more people might be willing to come along.
  10. there are no weekends in september where the ring is open for sat and sun, just weekends where you have one of the days available for tourists. I'm still up for going late august 29-31, where it's open friday evening, and ALL day sat, and ALL day sunday. Would be good to firm up commitments and start booking stuff up like eurotunnel etc.
  11. still worth getting diagnostics at lexus run on it, to see if there isn't an underlying issue with the car.
  12. must be a typo, sounds like your car is a mk2 GS. Anyway, it's gone into limp home mode to protect itself. It needs a diagnostics check done on the car to determine the exact cause. It needs to be towed or trailered I'm guessing to a garage, whether they be lexus or non lexus.
  13. It just becomes habit. I've switched back to a car with a normal handbrake after 10 years of having Lexi with parking brakes, and your brain soon adapts to either system.
  14. I got charged 250 for rear screen and 4 side windows, and it comes with lifetime warranty. It's 500 quid if I wanted Supaglass film used. Its going to cost me £140 to have the Audi windows tinted B) so it's true, everything is cheaper up north!
  15. yeah, it's almost limo black now after the 2nd layer, but it suits me.

  17. When I got my windows tinted a few weeks ago, I had asked for midnight on the rear screen, only to find it wasn't as dark as I expected. Pentagon offered to fit another layer of midnight over the initial midnight film to make it darker, which I'm now happy with. Not only did they not charge for putting the extra layer of film, but if I ever have to replace the 4 side windows for any reason, they will re-tint those windows for free.
  18. hold on a minute, 59mpg on a 400 mile trip from an IS250..your trip computer is telling pork pies!
  19. climate control without AC on is just regular heating and ventilation. it's only if you use a/c too, then your fuel consumption suffers by 1 or 2mpg.
  20. neil, with friends like that, who needs enemies..hope you get it all back..
  21. as for MPG, my gs (same engine right?) does around 15-20mpg depending on how i drive. most at the moment is in traffic, where i get 300miles out of 1 £70 tank! and that £££ is going up everyday!!!! its no fun at all :( same engine, but the GS is heavier, and may well have different gearbox ratios than the IS
  22. Have the confidence to do what YOU want to YOUR car. Personally, I like it! Imagine, you can squeeze into tight parking spaces and still be able to open the door!
  23. hi. it's a 10 year old luxury car that cost 50k brand new. parts and labour on the vehicle are not going to be cheap by a long shot. DHP was a UK dealer fit, so you'd either have to get the DHP springs from Lexus in the UK or replace all 4 springs with aftermarket springs like Eibach or H&R. Front radius arms (are they control arms), front suspension bump stops can be obtained either from Lexus UK or Lexus USA. It can be cheaper to order from America. Wheel bearings can be obtained from a motor factor. Don't need to go to Lexus for that. Bonnet struts - again Lexus USA or Lexus UK or get universal struts and adapt them. Use the search facility on here, and you will find all the answers you will ever need.
