  1. I think you should stick a turbo or supercharger badge on the bootlid. It might "feel" faster. All for the price of a badge.
  2. You have a 12 year old HEAVY luxury car with 100K+ miles. The suspension WILL have worn, particularly the bushes. The shocks and springs will most likely have worn too, although they may not leak and may well pass the MOT. Common items that may cause clunking on the LS are: Front balljoints (lower and upper) Anti roll bar bushes Rear upper control arm bushes Rear axle carrier bushes Movement from pads Also get the steering rack checked out. I seem to remember mine being replaced under warranty at 120k miles. Excessive play I think.
  3. Only parts of the exhaust system are stainless steel, and then again, not entirely the highest grade.
  4. I'm sure we will see you back in a Lexus one day again. Maybe an IS-F? There is an undescribable feeling when driving Lexus cars (particularly the bigger ones) that you take for granted when you own one day in/day out. It's that ability to waft in total comfort with zero effort required by the driver! :shutit: Uh oh, I'm gonna talk myself into buying a new one!
  5. Removing excess weight. Take out the rear seats or join a gym. Supercharger or turbo is the way to go if you want it to be more zippy!
  6. looks like royal sapphire blue metallic..best colour lexus ever came out with, imho
  7. I just checked with superflex bushes and their website doesn't list them. I've never seen a replacement bushing kit for the upper arms. I suspect your options are: (a) find used upper arms from a breakers yard (B.) order new ones from a lexus dealer in america (might well work out cheaper than from uk dealer) © order new ones from a lexus dealer in the uk Good luck!
  8. Welcome. Errr, average fuel consumption don't seem to be MUCH better with the IS200 than your Cupra mate. It's not just about bhp, it's also about gearing, weight, drag and rolling resistance. Btw, good price on the IS, trade price is 5,190 according to glass guide.
  9. Amazing group buy for an amazing cover! The "see thru bit" over the number plate is designed to show US licence plates. So this is how it looked when I got one from Sewell's for the GS. Oh this is how it looked on my GS Sport - Tigerfish - you might want to spec out a cover which is designed to be fit the rear boot spoiler (there was that option on the mk2 GS cover that I ordered for my Sport)
  10. Autoglym metal polish, you might even get a stronger signal after cleaning it up. I don't think it's a lube. It's just dirt and gunk. You can't turn it off from the stereo. You may be able to disconnect it though if it really bothers you that much. Personally, I found the RDS traffic announcements quite useful when going on long journeys.
  11. the problem is the alternator. the fluid leaking onto it ends up shorting out the alternator and/or electrical problems. not sure about first drop, but do you want to take the risk of estimating when the alternator is going to give up the ghost?
  12. I debadged my Mk2. I wish I could debadge the Accord but it's all built into the grille. Leave people confused and bewildered as they look in the rear view mirror! haha!

    Hello

very handy, ta yeah, I'm thinking Sport really, although +3 ins gps seems a bit steep given there's no increase in power Realistically, all the "sport" offers are some spoilers, two tone steering wheel, more rubber on the road, and lowered suspension. The GS will be quicker in a straight line than a stock IS200 though. Oh, the insurance goes up partly cos the list price of the Sport when new was close to 40 grand!

    Hello

The search function will reveal all the answers. P.S always remember the mk2 GS was designed for the US market primarly. A BIG difference between the IS and GS, in terms of how driver oriented they are.
  15. ahh, the good old days when you could get in with a wire coat hanger if you locked yourself out
  16. Hi Mate, Can you suggest a decent independant garage I can use in the future? I did try looking before biting the bullet with the main dealer, but couldn't really find much. Don't mind going up as far as Derby.... :) You have JEM in Hendon, NW London, and you have Westfield Motors In Essex. Those 2 garages are run by ex-Lexus people. I'm sure there are other garages that people in the South East have used.
  17. Motorists managed to park for many years before the introduction of parking sensors. Sensors are a useful aid to getting in and out of tight spots, but they are no substitute for being aware of your surroundings. Like folks have said, the sensors and also HIDs could be retro fitted for much cheaper than Lexus in a well sorted garage.
  18. It's a lot of money for that age of car, but fair enough. I would have found a reliable local garage to do the work. Don't want to be bursting your balloon, but you'd have to spend a lot of money on a 11 year old car to bring it into concours condition where it drives like new.
  19. Sounds like something could be wrong with the geometry, it may well be worn bushes that is affecting the geometry. Got a local garage who can check out the car? Normally the car should be rock solid in a straight line, even at 3 digit speeds.
  20. These "design faults" don't make it to the JD Power survey results!
  21. i believe the stereo is designed especially for the LS400. i dont think the oem head unit will work with another changer..but try on clublexus.com for a better answer..lots more LS owners on there...
  22. I don't think camber adjusters would be set at the maximum due to Dunlop tyres..They have to physically be moved to a specific degree. It sounds like your geometry needs to be independently verified by a true expert. Personally, I wouldn't trust Lexus with the geometry. Do get it checked out though, tyres are expensive to replace!
  23. Enjoy your new RAPID lexus..You definitely won't be going back to a 3 litre after experiencing the V8 thrust!
  24. it's 169 USD delivered from scan gauge directly in the US, but that excludes international orders!
  25. you could easily pick up a mk2 GS300 Sport for 5k, and that comes with HIDs and heated seats. amongst other things. The GS also gets leccy memory seats. I don't know if the CLK has them as standard? parking sensors aint on the mk2 GS, but if you MUST have them you can get them installed. I actually think visibility is very good on the GS, I never ever felt like getting them. regarding fuel economy, ur not comparing like with like. The CLK weighs at least 200kg less than the mk2 GS, that's a big factor in why it uses less juice.
