  1. Thanks again Geoff for your very comprehensive reply. I am away for a week shortly and so won't be able to do anything until I get back. I will probably pop into the dealer to have a look at what they might have available. I would prefer to stick with Lexus if I can but, I was also taken with this .......... https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201708248657908?postcode=ex84el&sort=sponsored&advertising-location=at_cars&make=BMW&aggregatedTrim=xLine&radius=1500&model=X1&fuel-type=Petrol&transmission=Automatic&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&page=1 A friend has the X3 which might also be worth considering. If I do manage to stay with Lexus, I would prefer to get a Premier model and so might have to consider one that is slightly older or with more miles on the clock.
  2. Hello Geoff, Thank you so much for your time to reply and to include the attachment. It all looks very interesting. I'm going to print it off and take it with me to Cornwall on Saturday I have to say that the RX450h looks a lovely motor. I just hope that I might be able to get a good enough deal to enable me to change. The trouble with me is that I'm a great fan of all the goodies, SatNav, Leather Seats etc. etc. and of course, all of this will increase the cost. Might get a big win on the Premium Bonds tomorrow though eh!.......fat chance!. Although I suppose that someone has to be a winner.
  3. Thank you Eamon. What is a pan roof please, can't say I've ever heard the term. Do they make a version with a normal roof, I'm not a fan of sun/moon roofs.
  4. Have been doing some mooching around and I do like the RX450h and, there seems to be a few around within my budget. Am I right in thinking that the Advance is the next one down from the Premier? Just wondering if I am better off selling mine privately, I would hope to get more than I would by doing P/X. Mine is immaculate with less than 13K on the clock, fully serviced at the selling dealership plus, it has an extended warranty that runs to December 2018. Any ideas what I might expect to get for it?
  5. Brilliant! Thank you so much for your input chaps, I knew that I could rely on you. When I was looking to change my IS250 SEL I was very very close to getting a CT200h, it was only at the last minute that I came across the 300h and was immediately in love with it and got one. I really do want to stay with Lexus if possible and so will do a bit of searching. Thanks again. Thank you too to Glyn for the search tip re Auto-Trader. I wasn't aware of that option. I will have a go at that, thanks.
  6. I am thinking that I might change my car quite soon. I really love the NX300h but it is likely to be beyond my budget. I know that quite a number of members on here are very experienced at researching the car market. With that in mind, and bearing in mind that the NX is too new for there to be some reasonably priced second-hand available, I wonder what other brands might come recommended at under £25K. With my very limited techie ability, I'm not too sure on the best way to search the market. For instance, if I go into Auto-Trader and look at say Renault for instance as the make, when I then click on the 'model' I have no idea which are the 4x4/SUV's and which variant to look at.. Any tips please? Many thanks.
  7. Thank you John, I had a bit of a feeling that that was the case. I will fully charge the battery and check for the reading that you have mentioned and also the discharged reading, just from an interest point really. They are not that expensive to replace, I think that it is just a case of ensuring that I buy a quality product as opposed to a possible fake one. Thanks again.
  8. I think that I may be about to encounter a problem with my camera battery. Whilst away on holiday last week, the camera did not seem to be holding its charge very well. I could put it on charge and it would appear that it became fully charged but, whilst out and about and, after using it to take some shots, it would then struggle to turn on after being off for a while but, if I left it for a while it would be OK. It seemed as though that if it was given a little time to recover it would work OK. The battery is a Lithium-Ion EN-EL5 3.7v 1100mAH 4.1Wh jobby. I have a small multimeter and am wondering if I can use this in some way to try to determine the state of the battery. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.
  9. When my car is due for service, my dealer always collects and returns same day. I can also use the car that they leave here too if I want, providing I have given them my licence details. It usually costs a tenner to cover the insurance excess. Great service.
  10. For me that's as ugly as it gets. Aaaaaaaarrrrrgh! I suppose it can be tempered by the old saying 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'
  11. I have read pretty much all of the 'wheel related' threads on here and, I have always wondered about Lexus wheels and so, I will ask my question. Do Lexus manufacture their own wheels and further, do some/all motor manufacturers make their own wheels or, are there specific wheel manufacturers from whom car makers buy wheels? I must admit that at the moment my wheels are fine, the car is 3.5 years old. My car is under extended warranty until December 2018 and so I am wondering, if I have a problem with my wheels will they be covered. I must sort out the paperwork for a look see. There is a VIP Event at my dealers this coming weekend, I might go along to see if there is anything that catches my eye. If I change, I won't have to worry about the wheels for a bit longer
  12. Thanks for the kind comments chaps. Enjoy your weekend.
  13. Hello Wayne, I wonder if you might find something here
  14. Thank you for your kind comments Lee. I bought the unit second-hand from a chap who was buying a much bigger one. It was nothing like it looks now when I got it. I insulated walls and roof with aluminium backed bubble wrap and then lined the inside with T & G cladding, my wife wasn't keen on me doing that but she is well pleased now that it's finished. I had some repair work to do at the base of one of the doors and also to the roof and then I put some decent shingles on the it rather than plain roofing felt and I then painted it inside and out. My wife wanted a whitewash look to the inside rather than solid paint. The coffee table and shelf unit were made from scraps of wood that were lying around the garage. There is also full electric power installed too. We are now looking for a pair of decent chairs to finish it all off. The final thing will of course be the sound of the sea.................hopefully! You may be able to see progress via this link http://s761.photobucket.com/user/bluenose1940/slideshow/Summerhouse
  15. Hi Mark, thank you for your input. When I found this item, it did say that it was a free download. Hopefully I have managed to attach an image of it for you to see.
  16. Thank you NemesisUK, I have tried your link but I don't get the 'Stereo Mix' option which is apparently needed. I don't trust myself with downloading older drivers in order to overcome the problem. I would probably give myself a bagload of problems. Thank you anyway though.
  17. I have just installed a small summerhouse in my garden and, my wife asked me to make it appear somewhat along the lines of a beach hut. I have done all of that and I am now thinking how nice it would be to have the sounds of the sea constantly playing in the background. I have found what I consider to be the perfect recording but, for the life of me I cannot see how to download it. I am hoping that someone on here may be able to point me in the right direction to get it onto my pc. I can then transfer it onto a USB stick and then find some way of playing it in the summerhouse. I have provided a link below to the sound that I am trying to download. I will be most grateful for any help. Thank you. For those of you who may be interested in what I have done, I have attached a couple of piccy's. http://www.stevenvrancken.com/pure-nature-sounds-of-the-sea.html
  18. Hello Murray, a big welcome to the club/forum. Hope you enjoy your new car, I'm sure that you will. When I change my car I too will be looking for something with a loftier driving position, also easier getting in and out, but that's an age thing for me. Happy motoring.
  19. Welcome Laurentiu, enjoy the forum, lots of friendly help and guidance always available.
  20. I use mine (paddles rather than the brakes) all of the time to keep my speed down to within the required limit, works faultlessly. Having said that, I do touch the brakes if necessary to make sure that anyone that is too close up my backside is aware that I am slowing down. If they are too close and don't see any brake lights they could well end up clouting me.
  21. When I purchased my car I had the Gen3-Glasscoat applied and, I was given a number of very nice goodies all very nicely packed in a carry case. There are things like Bird poo remover, and glass cleaner etc but, the one item that concerns me most is the shampoo. It is classed as a ceramic shampoo and creates no suds whatsoever. When I look at detailing items on the net, they all seem to show lots of soapy suds being splashed about but, when I clean my car I get nothing of the sort. Is this shampoo any good or should I be changing to something else. Many thanks.
  22. I was driving my wife's Toyota Yaris yesterday and, I noticed what I consider to be an extremely useful bit of detail on the SatNav. When I was exceeding the speed limit applicable to any particular zone, even by 3 or 4mph, be it 30, 40 or 50mph, the speed limit sign in the bottom right hand corner of the screen changed from the number being surrounded by a red circle, to a number in a solid red block. I am wondering why such a useful option is not available in my car which probably costs 3 times as much as the Yaris. Anyone know if this might be an option in the IS that can be turned on by the dealer?
  23. If you do a search on the forum you will see very very quickly that your choice is an absolute no brainer. The 250 wins hands down. Good luck with your purchase, I'm sure you will buy the right one P.S. I have had both cars.
  24. First class email Mike, well done. Hopefully they will get their act together and do something positive about it. Thank again.
  25. Good morning fellow members, another cracking day. Too warm to wash and polish though eh! Anyway folks, thank you all for your valued input but, much as I like doing things myself, I have decided on this occasion to get a sparky in to do it for me. In order to comply with current regulations, there is a bit more to it than I imagined and so I am going to sit in the summerhouse and watch someone else do it. Thanks again for taking the time to reply, it is, as always, very much appreciated.
