  1. WOW those remotes are something else. Are they really worth that sort of money?
  2. Can't find the right words to describe this and so I'll just say B##***@ awful!!!!
  3. Les, not too-techie, grey haired old codger here, how on earth does a phone app tell you what your average mpg is?
  4. Hello folks, I've been on the Portal this morning to see if there has been any updates to the firmware since I last did mine but, I couldn't even find anything relating to it. My firmware appears to be VD12103A Does anyone know if this is the latest please. Many thanks.
  5. It's the D's B's as they say. Snazzy wheels, love 'em Well done!
  6. I had a 220d and it was a super car. The only reason that I got rid of it was because I don't do many annual miles and. because of that I may, (only may mind you) have run into the problems associated with doing low mileages with a diesel. If I had done my research before buying the car I obviously wouldn't have bought it but, only for the low annual mileage reason. Somewhere on here you will find a thread that I started called 'Problems headed off at the pass' wherein I did the necessary EGR Valve cleaning procedure BEFORE I encountered any problems. It was a well looked after car, with a full Lexus service history and at that time was the best car I had ever owned. Definitely give consideration to the Extended Warranty option, well worth it in my opinion. My current car is 3 years old next month but I've already got an extended warranty that kicks in for a further 2 years as I am unlikely to change the car within that time. I've found my thread, here is the link Enjoy your car Mark
  7. Hi Nick, Yes definitely go for it. My car is 3 years old on December 23rd and the manufacturers warranty runs out then but, when I purchased the car I took the opportunity to take out a further 2 years of warranty, which will kick-in next month and will cover me until 23/12/2018, a bit of extra peace of mind for me. Also as mentioned in other posts, you get the roadside assistance cover chucked in which covers YOU AND YOUR WIFE (if you have one of course) and it doesn't matter what car you're in either. Enjoy your car.
  8. Had the Low Battery Warning appear this morning re the key fob. I need to order a couple of CR2032's and am wondering if you top chappies recommend any particular manufacturer for these. Many thanks.
  9. Just thought some of you fellow members might find this interesting. Nissan BladeGlider.pdf
  10. I'm aiming this question at you brilliant techno bods who always seem to come up with answers.no matter what I ask. I have purchased a Soundbase that sits very snugly under my TV and my wife and I can actually hear what is being said rather than having to put the subtitles on!!! Additional to the 'Dialogue' setting, we do get a reasonable 'surround sound' effect (good enough for us anyway) and if we play any music, the sound is considerably better than the TV speakers. Anyway, on to my question.......I have linked the new Soundbase to the TV and so can control the on/off for both from the one remote (The Soundbase remote) Obviously the Sky setup is totally separate and I have to control that with its own remote. So, does anyone know if it would be possible to put EVERYTHING on to the Sky remote, or is that expecting too much? The Soundbase that I have purchased is a Pioneer and I have found the preset codes for my Panasonic equipment, presumably if this is going to work I would need to suss out the make of the Sky+ box. Thank you.
  11. Are you saying that it doesn't update automatically. My DashCam does.
  12. Ha ha, I think that you are absolutely right David. Following your reply I went out and had a look at the location of the switch and it seems that it would be quite easy to hit the button without realising it and especially if you were using the EV switch without looking down, which I may well have been doing at the time. Thank you for that.
  13. Driving home last night I had a message appear on the dash, it said TRC OFF. I've looked in the manual but can't see that much about it. Switched on this morning and there's nothing showing now. Anyone got any thoughts please. Many thanks.
  14. Hi folks, I have today purchased a Pioneer SBX-B70 Soundbase system and am wondering if I should connect this unit using the supplied optical cable direct to the TV or, would it be better to connect it to a similar connection point on the Sky+HD Box. Thank you for any help.
  15. I had to park near to this kerb in Exeter today, it's one of the highest I have ever seen so I decided to measure it! It comes in at a cool 210mm (about 8 1/4 inches to us oldies!) and you really need to be careful when you open your doors too!!
  16. Hi folks, thanks for all the input. I am currently using the 'Powerline' system as mentioned by Adam but, I have it in mind that a cabled connection is always better ( am I right in thinking this?) I can still go ahead with feeding the Ethernet cable through from the lounge but would now ask, what is a Cat45?
  17. I am just decorating one of the rooms for the first time since we moved in, it is a bedroom but I have it kitted out as a study. I have recently drilled through the wall to the lounge to feed an Ethernet cable through and was going to hide the cable under the carpet. However, I have today discovered the 'tails' of a telephone point sticking out of the wall by a couple of inches. Obviously at some point there was probably a telephone connection box there. What I don't know is whether these 'tails' are in fact live. if I discover that they are, is it possible to have a second router in the house or, does this cause any problems by conflicting with the one in the lounge? Where the BT cable comes into the house, I don't have a modern 'Box', mine is a very old fashioned terminal that is about 3inches long by about one and a half inches wide and the top is held in place by a single screw in the centre. It is made of green plastic and was probably fitted in the late 60's. I am sure that some of our 'less young' members will know what I am describing. I would need to get a telephone engineer in to check to see if the cable is live but, I don't want to do this unless I can be sure that I can run two routers without any problems. If there are unlikely to be any problems, having a second router would be a much better option as it will be located right next to my pc. I don't think that I could simply move the existing router away from the lounge as the TV/Sky+ box is connected to it. Thanks for any help that may be forthcoming.
  18. My engine starts up EVERY SINGLE TIME whilst I am still on the drive. My wife has a Toyota Yaris hybrid and it makes no difference what the weather is, day or night, every time we/she starts it up it is always in EV mode and, if I am sat in my study and she is going out, although I can see the car, I NEVER hear it. I think that I may have mentioned this in a previous thread but can't be sure.
  19. I never cease to be amazed at the amount and variation of advice and guidance that one can get on this site and so I thought that I would ask a question on my domestic electrical setup. I am about to redecorate the sitting room and thought it would be a good idea to move some sockets to a more accessible location and so need a little help please. The television is in the corner on a very heavy oak corner cabinet and, at the moment the sockets are situated down behind this unit and the whole setup is quite difficult to move whenever the occasion warrants it, hence the thought to move the sockets whilst the room is in a mess!At the moment there are three double sockets situated side by side and are all linked in to the ringmain, i.e. no spurs. My question is, shall I simply move this setup further up the wall so that they are then above the top of the oak unit but still behind the T.V. or, is there a better way of achieving what I want.I have hopefully been able to attach an image of the setup as it is at the moment. Many thanks for any help/guidance that may be offered.
  20. The number of times that passers-by have told me that I have a 'nasty scratch' near the bottom of the rear door is amazing. I have to then point out to them that they are not scratches but are in fact 'protectors'. Now that I know they will come off, I will probably remove them myself. Thanks rayaans.
  21. Have a look at this thread that I started quite some time ago, about 18 months approximately. If you read it from start to finish you may well find some really interesting bits.
  22. Got it!......I'm with it now thanks chaps. I'll get me order in for for a Cat 6 patch cable then. You folk really are the dogs doodahs with your knowledge and willingness to help. Thank you so much.
