  1. Spotted whilst browsing smornin! http://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/ten-cars-that-caused-a-public-controversy/ss-BBv4qej?ocid=spartandhp#image=7
  2. Further to this discussion on satnav map updates. I have an old Garmin 660 and this morning i went on to the 'Active GPS' website and they do a massive range of map updates for a multitude of satnav units. Interestingly they offer things like UK only, France, Spain etc. and all at the very realistic price of £34.84. How good is that then eh! Why can't Lexus do something similar instead of trying to rip us all off with their very UNREALISTIC prices. I'm convinced that they would sell more updates if they changed their stance. I have (hopefully) attached an image of what I have found.
  3. Hi Dale, sounds like a very nice motor. Welcome to the club. You will get lots of help on here, the members are a great bunch. Enjoy the forum and your car.
  4. Welcome to the forum Mark. Sorry to hear of your woes. The councils are out down here at the moment, making the usual disgraceful efforts at resurfacing the roads. When you go out, it is constantly on your mind 'How soon before my windscreen goes!' Hate it!!! Enjoy the forum and your car.
  5. Thanks for the replies folks, I will do a bit of investigating. Michael, I read some of the reviews on the Michelin Digital jobby that you mentioned. Everything seems fine with just a few comments being made about the seal being awkward when inflating. Have you experienced this at all?
  6. Probably quite expensive for what is involved. When these kits were first available they were for the 220d, I was the first to fit one in a 250 and the wiring was quite different and when I came to fit it, I had to liaise with Michael and the manufacturer via the internet and very early in the morning because of the time difference but, it all went very smoothly and the kit worked a treat. Obviously the wiring is all sorted and is now absolutely straightforward. Michael is an extremely helpful chap and is always available via email if you need him. I can honestly say that it really is a doddle to do. Doing mine was a little more difficult because of the need to change the wiring, I had to keep on running outside to get multimeter readings and then pass the info to Michael and Mr P I think he was called, we had a three-way communication going but, it was all done in an hour. The wiring diagrams were updated for the 250 and all is now very easy to do. Go on, give it a go. You will get much satisfaction when completed.
  7. Hello folks, just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent quality, accurate and reliable tyre pressure gauge. I have three gauges in my toolbox and they all give different readings and so obviously I don't know which, if any, are correct. I think that now it is time to get something decent. I always check my pressures at home, never do it at a garage, I prefer it this way, but of course I need to know that I am getting it right, at least to within a smidgen of the required pressure. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
  8. Welcome to the club. Enjoy your new car. Lots and lots of help on here as and when you might need it.
  9. I recently contacted Lexus regarding the map updates and costs of same. I received their reply today. yer tis........ Customer Relations ref: CASE0587097 Dear Geoff Thank you for your recent email regarding Lexus Map Updates, and please accept my apologies for the delay in responding. As I know you are aware, you are not the only customer to have requested UK only Map Updates as being a more economical option. Your suggestion has been passed to our colleagues in Europe. I cannot confirm whether this idea will be adopted but can assure you that we value your feed back and always consider our customers suggestions. I do hope that the current arrangements do not deter you from continuing to support Lexus. Kind regards Jenny Shipley Customer Relations Case Manager Toyota (GB) PLC - Lexus Division Distributor of vehicles, parts and accessories for the UK
  10. Most definitely not tree sap. More like sand blown in from the Sahara, happens often but haven't seen it for quite a while.
  11. Yes I certainly do but it's too darned hot at the moment I just happened to put my hand on the bodywork this morning and crikey, I could have cooked my breakfast on it but, the most alarming thing that I found was that the paintwork feels just like sandpaper. If I was to wash it now, having not checked that, the paintwork would have been scratched like you wouldn't believe. I'm not sure that a good hosing will shift the residue either, might need a good going over with a pressure washer. What do others do when in this situation? I'm glad that I didn't just drive into the local car wash (I don't usually use them anyway) but as I am off on a trip shortly, I might just have done it as a speedy option. Perish the thought!!
  12. Welcome Liam. Nice looking motor. Enjoy!
  13. This looks very interesting. Do you have a special carrier for the phone so that it is easily visible? I'm not sure that the screen on my phone would be big enough for me to see very clearly. What sort of cost is involved with Sygic? My son uses Google maps on his iPhone 6 which has a larger screen than my iPhone 4 but it always strikes me as not being easy to be trying to follow from a phone screen. My old Garmin was quite good but I made a special carrier for it when I had my Rover and that was fairly easy to see.
  14. Hi again, thank you for doing that for me. Were you not able to link the two videos together? Were you able to confirm the registration from the rear view camera? I'd just like to be absolutely sure that it is correct.
  15. Thank you Venator, very helpful. Hopefully you will be able to view again OK. trim it to whatever you feel will be appropriate. Thank you so much. 20160712_095340.MP4
  16. How easy is it to cut and link? It needs to be pretty easy for me to be able to cope with it. Yes I do want to see if the authorities will speak to the driver, even if it is just to warn him about his driving. It is this sort of person who badly injures or even kills innocent people. It might just be one of our family members that suffers from such an act.
  17. I've just had a look at the rear view and I've attached a still, does this help to confirm the number? Is there any way that I can link tge front and rear views together and also make the file slightly smaller?
  18. Thanks folks, how did you manage to enhance the image enough to suss it out. I got quite close, i thought that it was VW06 SRP. Did you manage to watch it all?
  19. Hopefully the file will be available for you to view. When you watch the video you should see the car (the Ford with the ladder on the roof) passing a line of traffic and carrying out the manoeuvre on the WRONG SIDE of the bollard approaching what is a busy T junction. 20160712_095340.MP4
  20. It is indeed a screenshot from a video.
  21. Hi Folks, just wondering if anyone has the ability to decipher the number plate shown in the attached photograph please. Many thanks.
  22. Not sure if I've read you right but I can tell you that this latest update (VD12103A) was issued in May this year. The install instructions you have looked at were provided for previous updates too. You will find that the instruction will almost certainly be the same for use with future updates. Apologies if I have misunderstood what you were saying. (I am a wrinkley!)
  23. The latest update available is VD12103A. I've just done mine. You can find all the info you need to do it here..... Quite a number of us have done it. unfortunately it doesn't include a map update, those are stupidly expensive from Lexus
