  1. I don't know. I asked the same question when I started the thread and didn't get any replies. I can only assume that nobody has updated their NX SatNav
  2. I started a thread in the NX forum regarding the SatNav updates but didn't get any replies. have a look at this link to see what's available. https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/2018-lexus-premium-sat-nav-sd-card-navigation-map-update-652-p.asp?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks
  3. The rear image looks nice and clear but, if you've got anything other than 3 little 'uns in the back, the coverage is going to be somewhat restricted I would have thought. There is no movement of my rear camera when I open and close the tailgate.
  4. Here is an image from a file taken from my rear camera. I have a panorama X2 fitted front and rear. Brilliant!
  5. I asked this question in another thread but I'm not sure that enough members saw it and so I thought I'd try again. I'm keen to update the maps in my car and am wondering if anyone else has used this particular brand, see link below. I gave the supplier all of my SatNav data and this is what they came up with. The product mentions 'Premium Navigation' but, I don't know if mine is the Premium version, although I think that I have read somewhere that fellow member ColinBarber thinks that all NX's have Premium Navigation. can this be confirmed by anyone? The Lexus SatNav handbook says "Do not eject the SD card as it will deactivate the system". I'm not sure if map updates are normally done by leaving the SD card in place and writing over the existing content or, if its done by replacing the card with a new one. Anyone know the answer to this. https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/2018-lexus-premium-sat-nav-sd-card-navigation-map-update-652-p.asp The cost of this update (from the link) is certainly more realistic than Lexus prices.
  6. This is the version recommended to me after following Andrew's link above. I provided them with all my data information and they came up with this but, I don't think that my SatNav is the Premium version. Anyone able to tell me how I can verify this please. The Lexus SatNav handbook do not eject the SD card as it will deactivate the system. Have any other NX owners used it at all?
  7. All sounds pretty shocking and incompetent. Will be interested to hear final outcome. Somewhat confused as to how you received a text if you didn't have your phone with you though
  8. Thank you for that Andrew. Do you happen to know if anyone does updates purely for the UK. The chances of me driving abroad again are now pretty low.
  9. On the subject of seats, what is the best way (if there is one of course) to disguise a scratch on a leather seat. I have one that was probably caused by someone getting in the car and they scraped a buckle or suchlike across the seat. It's only very small but when you know it's there............. Many thanks in advance of any suggestions.
  10. Welcome Richard. I'm sure that you will get a great deal of pleasure from your new car. I am on my 4th Lexus and have been really pleased with all of them. Enjoy.
  11. I have an old Garmin Nuvi 660 and it has been a very good buy, I might even consider buying another. Which model did you buy Alan?
  12. Hello ColinBarber, apologies, I did mean to say 'Map updates' in my original post. I punched in a postcode for a point some 50 miles away today and it wasn't available and so I thought that a map update was needed. I know that Lexus charge silly money for these but have seen that other members have used updates from other than via Lexus. Apologies again for the misleading post.
  13. Has anyone updated their SatNav on the NX yet? Are there any reliable versions available other than paying the vastly overpriced updates from Lexus? I see that one or two members have done theirs on other models with some success.
  14. Rod, an IS250 SE-L will be a splendid choice. I've had one and it was a cracker. I'm sure you will find exactly what you are looking for if you take your time. When you find one and it entails a bit of a journey, it will be well worth it. Good luck with your search.
  15. Welcome Salman. Enjoy your new car.
  16. Got my dashcam up and running in the NX now and witnessed a bit of a cockup earlier today. Lots of old people in Budleigh Salterton and quite a few are still driving and shouldn't be! This is a video of an old boy seemingly having just left the doctors surgery which is in the road that he has just come out of, i.e. the next road on the left after the traffic lights. Watch for his dark car coming out of the road whilst I am sat at the red light, then keep your eyes peeled as to where he is when he is joining the line of traffic as I am approaching. There are people in Budleigh who won't go into town in their 'Best Car' for fear of getting it clouted! Budleigh.mp4
  17. I am currently using an HTC10 mobile phone and have been trying to transfer the contacts into my NX I have checked the spec of my phone and it is PBAP compatible but, when I try to transfer the contacts it seems to go on forever and never achieves anything. I can make and receive calls and messages whilst in the car so that side of things seems to be OK. Just wondering if any of you technoboffins might have some thoughts on this please. Many thanks.
  18. Thank you for the info Colin, much appreciated. Am going out to have a look now that it isn't raining. Sounds a similar location to my previous IS.
  19. Tis dark and wet outside so can't go out for a look, so does anyone know where the 12v battery is located on the NX and, is there a fuse box underneath the glove box where I could take power from for my dashcam. Many thanks.
  20. I inherited my Dad's Longines Conquest, beautiful watch. I only wear it for special occasions, perhaps I should wear it more often.
  21. That all sounds good to me John, more likely than not I should get over the hurdle should it arise. I feel more confident than not, let's put it that way. Thanks again for your time. Have yourself a splendid Easter and don't eat too much choccy
  22. Yes you've got it John, absolutely spot on. So, my only question is then, apart from the possible difficulties I would encounter when attempting the soldering, which I could probably mitigate by ensuring sufficient slack is available, do the cables actually lend themselves to having different terminals attached to them and, are these terminals readily available? I was planning to install the cameras and cables myself but, I am experiencing considerable difficulty in removing the A Pillar trim. I have managed to undo the top clip but the next one down is proving to be a bit of a pig and I doubt that I will do it. This being the case I will have to shell out around £200.00 to have it fitted, which I won't mind if I know that I can use the cables again if I need to. The camera is a couple nearly three years old and, although it might continue to function for quite a while yet, it could just as easily pack up in a week or so. Thanks again for all your help.
  23. Hi again John, Thank you again for your time. I hope that I haven't confused you with what I am trying to do. Basically what I am saying is, if my current camera no longer works, will I be able to either, fit adaptors on the ends so that a new camera will work without me having to rip out all of the cables that are in place at the moment or, snip the ends off and fit new connectors that any new camera might need. Hope I have made that a bit clearer. apologies for any confusion. I have (hopefully) attached a pdf of the manual of my current camera. If you can't open it, let me know. Just spotted your EDIT John. What I am trying to say really is, the camera I have at the moment was in my earlier IS300h and, I left the cables in that car as it was too much trouble to take them out when I sold it. I am now going to fit it ( or have it fitted) in my NX but, before I go to the cost of having it done I wanted to try to clarify if I could use the cables again because if I can't, it might just deter me from having it hard-wired if you get my drift. Thanks again. Geoff Panorama_X2_Manual.pdf
  24. Thank you for your input John, much appreciated. I have had a little experience of some fine soldering work when replacing bits in a video recorder and so I would be happy to give it a go if it became necessary. I have hopefully been able to attach a photo of the cables that I am about to put in my car. The image shows as follows :- The connectors on the left are the two ends of the long cable that goes between the front and rear cameras. The centre connector (with the three black bands around it) is the one from the GPS unit (which is mounted on the windscreen) The right cable is the feed from the fuse box and this one, rather than being a bayonet type jack plug, is one with a hole in the centre that sits over a pin at the Dashcam itself. The red, yellow and black cables are the connectors used at the fuse box. Just wondering if you might have any further comments. Thanks again.
  25. A thought crossed my mind and I'm wondering if any of the auto electrical guru's on here might know the answer. If there is a dascam fitted in a car and it gives up the ghost and, the choice of replacement is a different brand/model to the original and, as a result the end connectors are different, is it possible to purchase small adapters to convert the little jack plugs so that it isn't necessary to remove all of the old cables and then replace? I think that I am right in saying that manufacturers don't use standard connectors, it would make sense if they did, but then they'd lose money I suppose when people didn't need to buy the cables again. If it came to it, and again to avoid the re-cabling process, is it practical to snip the old ends off and re-solder new ones on or, are the cables and fittings a bit too small for that? Another possible problem I suppose, is the actual cable different between dashcam models? Just my thinking about trying to eliminate trim removal etc.
