  1. that looks a lovely car, phil, enjoy it ,i should wait until you have problems with suspension ,may never happen!
  2. when they issue you with new licence at age 70,you need to start checking your driving entitlements, are still on there,my father in law went to hire 7.5 ton van to help someone move ,and found his licence did'nt cover it anymore, apparently, you have to apply to have it ,perhaps they don't expect older people to want to drive larger vehicles.lucky enough i was at home and was able to help.he is an ex traffic cop ,but he had'nt checked, when he got his new licence just automatically assumed it was the same
  3. sorry to hear jon has been ill,i do hope everything works out ok for you both
  4. i drive all models of volvo with my job,and they are lovely put together cars, compared with all the new renaults/nissan and vauxhalls,i drive ,i don't think its the waftability factor, its probadly the age, comparing a 15/20yr old car with a newer car is difficult, everything on a newer car is that bit tighter, all the controls, very intuitive,im thinking of getting something smaller, easier to get into, now im getting on a bit,the ls is lovely on my trips down to poole where i spend some time, but i live in southampton most of the time now,and its getting a pain to park in places these days, when its your everyday car,i find myself using the wifes ford KA more and more for smaller journeys,i like the v70 cross country, and the sc60. Im going to have to make what could be a painful decision soon i think.
  5. really cool cars,so over the top, lovely, much better than a little euro sh*tbox, prob the same money
  6. my cars the same colour, came new with gold badges, quite exspensive up grade i believe at the time, its original so my badges stay on
  7. i know once i moved my car so i could get the wheelie bins out ,i only started it for a minute, next morning it turned over really fast, without starter engaging, massive smell of petrol, left it for a while, then it started.afterwards a mechanic friend of mine reckoned the system was purging itself, cos i had not let it run long enough the night before
  8. hefty clout that,i should imagine thats buckled the floorpan somewhere, hope you find another, best of luck
  9. he might have to do a 200 mile round trip just turning right to get home
  10. prob something simple, the original wipers have a wind deflector/aerofoil fitted,to push the blade onto screen, perhaps its working in reverse, when you turn, the new ones i got have'nt got that on my replacements, mine were only cheap flat rubber aero blades, only just over a fiver from ebay but work beautifully,no judders,or anything.
  11. my wipers used to hit the side pillar sometimes when the rain was light,ok in heavy rain.i replaced the wipers now all ok
  12. i bought complete set, wiper blades brand new on ebay flat rubber or something like that other people had used them on the forum ,£5.75,fitted perfectly, absolutely brilliant,no juddering ,especially when the rain is light, those lexus/toyota blades need to to be bloody good to better that, lexus wanted over £30 for complete set
  13. I have used mobil one 0w30 in mine for the last 4yrs,no problems
  14. there are a lot of lexus badged landcruisers in australia, they are finished to a more luxurious standard, though most folk over there use them as intended, offroad
  15. once you filled it thro the plug and refitted you run the car for 5mins with the cap off, filling up as necessary, then run at 2000revs if i remember rightly for 5 min,top up replace cap,the instructions for filling are on my filler cap, this gets all the air out
  16. when i bought my car the aerial was stuck up,when i investigated,it was'nt the original lexus one,i bought one of ebay £28,its been ok for 3yrs,just connected the fused live to feed from radio, goes up and down with the ignition, does'nt go down when you turn off the radio, but its no problem to me
  17. this seems to be something the tyre companies have invented,in my part of the world i don't think they are necessary, then there,s the storage etc of two sets of wheels and tyres
  18. i disagree,i like the glass sunroof,im more than a bit thin on top,but i have never got sunburnt, but that varies from person to person i enjoy having the roof open, and it lightens the interior with the blind retracted. In my job,i road test/drive new cars every day,and its true the majority do have sunroofs, but some still do.its the standard a/c on most cars thats spelling the end of the sunroof I drive all these new cars everyday but the the 17 yr old ls400 never disappoints on the drive home,
  19. phil, hope you hang around on the forum, always enjoyed your posts,on your cars, you have owned both models,so always good useful thought out comments from you, hope you reconsider
  20. i left my door not fully closed at work one day,had a flat battery,i jump started it ,been fine ever since,no probs before or since ,they are bigish lights, dos'ent mean your battery faulty, you just discharged it
  21. iv'e got 17inch dhp wheels, mine have 255/45/17 tyres,i had continental contisports all round orginally, the rears have falkiens on now, both have been ok for me,iv'e had no problems
