  1. Uhm, I have a 2008 GS450H too, but in my GS there is only a button to close manually mirrors, while if i leave the setting switch ( that one to regulate mirrors position) in R or L position I only have mirrors moving down in reverse to see better road on sides. I red somewhere time ago that there is a mod made by a russian guy to make mirrors close at power off of GS.
  2. On my GS450 h MY 2008 I did the procedure to abilitate the auto-lock of door that originally was not set; of course it's possible to exclude the feature, too. Anyway, if you need to unlock all four doors, you can put in P the gear. At the momet I don' t remember how to modify the settings, but probably you can find the way in forum, if you don't find ask and I will try to find where i put the infos :) ; another way to have it is to ask to Lexus dealer doing the mod by techstream program. Meanwhile, try reading in this forum topic "Auto Door Lock" (53368)
  3. Yes it is normal, to increase RPM for MOT you nave to exclude TCS so RPM can rise. About solar sensor , you have error if no sun :-)
  4. Of course not my intention to encourage piracy, I just wrote that the official sw for Toyota-Lexus is Techstream, as for an access to infos you need to subscribe to techinfo site where you can download many info about car servicing paying a small amount if you need acces for few hours. About the Bluetooth-android apps, it's possible to download them accessing to Google market, while Carista can also modify some features of some Lexus models (i.e closing of doors at a fixed speed) paying a little sum instead of going asking to dealer.
  5. The main software for Lexus-Toyota is Techstream, while if you need only to clear codes with a BT interface and a cell phone there is Torque or Dashcommand for general purpose and Carista for Lexus cars options.
  6. Ehi, I have the solution for performance better than 335i: Google video: BMW 335i vs Lexus GS450h 0-260 ;-)
  7. First, the battery pack is not so expensive, even if for sure it's expensive, but usually it can be reconditioned trought the rebalancing procedure and if a single cell is broken it is posible to change it and not the complete pack. The calibration file is for the charge module and it just limits a little the max charge current. Of course, a new battery pack is a solution :)
  8. There is a TSB about it, the "battery pack deterioration" is NOT the same of battery total failure, and it happens only on some GS450h, caused but a normal ageing of battery pack; the solution in TSB is to reprogram the HV charging mode with an updated software. In my opinion the problem could be solved also by a total recalibration of battery cells that after some years of working could be at different charge levels, unluckily the machinery to make this are rare to find (at least here in Italy), and the procedure to recalibration needs at least 24 hours. The software update is made trought a .cuw calibration file and techstream program, but unluckily I have not succeded till now to find the file, as I have not access to Toyota-Lexus technical site (have to pay for it). The DTC is P0A7F -123 Hybrid battery pack deterioration, search in Google and you will find ;-) At the moment, I (hoping not temporarily) solved the problem resetting many parameters with techstream and making some cycles of charge-discharge up and downhill trying to rebalance the charge in cells on my GS450h my 2008. In pdf the TSB 575ed3e9.pdf
  9. If you have some perplexity about legal use of Techstream, I remember there are 2 levels, the "lite" for diagnostic and some other features, and the complete one that requires connection with techinfo from Toyota with registration. In alternative, to change some settings using an android device with BT OBD interface ELM 327 you can find on ebay, is the app CARISTA, that has free of charge diagnose and paid options for settings of Lexus and Toyota.
  10. I had some time ago the same symptoms on my GS, just movede a little the connector and all went ok, I agree with the suggestion to verify and clean connector of the lamp.
  11. Congratulations , and enjoy driving it! The main difference from conventional non-hybrid cars is the E-cvt , you will hear the engine sound totally disconnected from car speed and revving accordingly to requested power, and this could make you a bit confused at the beginning, feeling like you are on a motorboat. if you don't care about it, you will like the instant response to throttle given by sinergy between termal end electric engines, and will be very happy to drive in silence at low speed when only electric works.
  12. On my GS 450H Hankook Ventus V12evo, less noisy than Advan mounted before and firm ride, if you prefer a slightly softer tyre I suggest to buy a 93Y type (Hankook are 97Y). Michelin Primacy 3 are good too, but more expensive.
  13. DAB itself it's no so bad, probably it becomes awful if band is so narrow to fit more channels in few fequencies. I don't live in GB so I can' t know the quality of DAB broadcasting there, anyway, at this point you can have a better sound from internet radio with high rate, like LINN radio (just to name one) trought internet.
  14. The main issue is that actually it is a repeater of DAB radio to FM, so the quality of audio is downgraded to FM: if you don' t care of this it seems interesting, else it is not a good choice. Maybe a better solution is to buy a DAB receiver and connect the audio output to aux input of your car radio, and if you hate to connect plugs you can do it wireless trought a BT interface permanently connected to aux in, so you can try also internet radio sent by a smartphone ot tablet
  15. Just tried a fuel additive to clean injection system in my GS450 with almost 70.000 km. , and not sure if it was someway useful or not, may be a more regular engine when idling, but it could be a sort of placebo effect. For sure, it does not made damages.
  16. The "purring" you hear sometimes (even with engine totally off) is a noise coming from brakes pump, and it's normal, like is normal when you start moving with only electric the slight whistle resembling a metropolitan train :) About steering feeling, you will notice a great difference setting normal vs. sport mode, as the GS has a variable gear steering that in sport mode make it more direct (while suspensions get stiffer): I love sport mode steering, while not particularly like stiffening. Anyway, GS 450h is great , you can choose if driving a comfy sedan or a sporty GT (with sport and power switches ON). The differences between MY 2006 and MY2008 are minor, the most noticeable is side mirrors with lights.
  17. With my GS it's good if i do 1 mile only in electric mode, and to do this you have to keep your righ foot very light... The best result for fuel economy is to keep battery charge around 6 bars (the whole blue ones).
  18. Don' t worry about the "little" charge kept in your GS battery, in cold weather it's normal, and anyway the function of HV battery in hybrids is to give the necessary power to move the car helping gasoline motor and storing energy when braking to use it accelerating; it's a hybrid car, not electric ;-)
  19. Pls consider that , expecially in city, you have long time with engine off with a hybrid like GS450h, and in my experience it's difficult to notice when engine is ON again ;-)
  20. Actually the use of manual gears in GS is only useful in long descents to avoid to keep pressed brakes pedal; the final effect is the same, regenerative braking, at least till batteries are fully charged (all green bars on monitor), at that point braking comes also from gasoline engine.
  21. Yes, it's important to have a computer with 32 bit Windows system (it seems someone succeeded in making it work on 64 bit Windows, but it's rather complex).
  22. Techstream and OBD interface, or also OBD Bluetooth interface and Torque app with android phone.
  23. You could try connecting a audio source to AUX plug (in center armrest) and selecting input AUX pressing cd changer button, if you hear sound from that source (ie a mp3 player or phone headphone output) may be there is a fault in radio-cd pre-amp section. Being an expensive system, better ask a audio repairer to fix it. Else, if AUX input works, you can at least use the excellent mark levinson amp.
  24. Sometimes reasons to change lights are more aesthetic than helping night vision, so there are different solutions biased to different needs. If you want efficient vision, you have to choose light not too much white or violet, even if thes lights are more "nice", better a 4300 °K (or less), than 6000° K. Of course, HID light are more efficient so a 35 W HID produces more light than a 50 W traditional lamp. Besides, a traditional lamp producing a white light (higher °K ). having a higher working temperature last less time than a yellowish ligh one.
