  1. ... but it seems strange that it could not find the town when searching for town name alone. Here in Italy it happens the same with street names, for example "Via dei boschi" (woods street) may be found or not depending how it is stored in memory, if you type "dei boschi" it is not found, if you type "boschi" it's found like "boschi (via dei)" LOL. May be the same with little towns depending from a main city, the street is found typing main city name.
  2. Uhm, sorry to read the issue with satnav Richard, it seems that also in your language the speech recognition is not good; using navi I usually input address writing street and selecting city is a bit easier if you are nearby choosing one from "5 cities near position" menu; unluckily navigation system in Lexus , generally speaking, is not so user friendly even if fast in response, may be it will be better with connected services developments. About address input, you can select town first, just moving to town line before inputting street name.
  3. Just my opinion, but if you are thinking about spending some more money for a IS 300h Premier, try a GS 300h, it is more refined and it has rear camera and other comfy features also in base version.
  4. I have put a LED blue stripe on GS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV9ZjugZrRM
  5. I have on my GS, and don't care for critics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MxCNHRiYYg
  6. Yes, the rear is not folding, but in latest GS the boot is not so small as you think. Of course IS is also a good and cheaper choice, but GS is one step up for all. About the navi system, I don't know how it works speaking english, but I suppose it is better than in italian; not so easy because for a strange reason it asks street name before city (typing the address), but not so bad and fast in calculating route.
  7. I have a GS 300h in top edition (probably in UK it is called Premier), with nigh safety pack, 19" rims and all you can have , it is a wonderful car. If you like to know real mpg, it's the same or just a bit more depending by tyres dimensions you can read about IS 300h; with my driving style I am at about 16 km/l (37.5 mpg ??). In motorways the big difference is the average speed, so it depends if you respect speed limits or not ;-). If you have any question more , ask.
  8. While for safe driving it's better to push the "snow" button, for fun all the procedures to disabilitate control make a happier tail, a step more tu unsecure driving is setting in SPORT mode, but be sure to have large spaces and no trees around :-)
  9. May be you don't consider that you have, after inflating tyres, push the hidden set button to memorize the right inflation pressure: if you have a wrong setting, you could have a warning too late (or soon).
  10. Have you tried to keep TC OFF for more than 10 seconds?
  11. In my GS user manual I read that the format for USB stick has to be FAT or FAT32, probably lt is the same on IS.
  12. Both are compatible being OBD, the point is if you prefer a BT or a wifi to connect your phone or tablet, if you run android go with BT, with apple devices maybe you need wifi.
  13. Usually it appears a warning, but I wrote it because the 1st time I saw the maleficent triangle light on my GS, frightening me, it was for that reason :-)
  14. Techstream works well in 32 bit with XP, using other windows OS it's a bit more complicate, even if it's possible, mainly for drivers problems. About obd interface, better if you get the 2.x version, but for diagnostic purposes also cables with 1.4 fw version work. About the program, a newer version is obviously better but if you have a "old" car it's not so important to have the newer one.; to have full working option the software has to be registered (and you risk to make damages if you don't know what to do).
  15. I agree with suggestion to NOT change HID if they are not blown; it is a delicate work and the risky, as they work with high voltage. Anyway, it could be a reason to change lamp to have a different light temperature, the best for vision is around 4000 K° while many like 6000 K° for their blueish nuances. Personally, for fog I'd like a yellowish lamp (4000 K° are white).
  16. In GS you can reset the navi system pressing ON knob for some seconds, I don't know if it's the same for IS; if nothing happens may be there is a problem in GPS antenna , like a disconnected plug.
  17. Uhm , may be you can get the right part number searching on Lexus tech info site, or also asking a Lexus dealer the UK price printing :)
  18. 3): give a look to 12V battery, if it is well connected, charged and in good conditions.
  19. The acces to screws is from engine space, and there are holes to insert the phillips screwdriver who needs to be LONG as the screws are deep inside, then if you reach the screws the procedure is rather easy: put the car in front of a wall and sign the height beams are, then go in reverse for some meters and beams have to be lower (10% on 10 meters, more or less), in no way they have to be higher. To complete the procedure you need to control if direction of beams is correct, reversing straight they don't have to go left or righ , if not there are other 2 screws to move. Alle these settings request some complete turns to be effective, being the movements of beams very light, anyway it's a good practice ti keep in mind how many turns you do so to come to previous settings if finale effects is not satisfactory.
  20. I made on my previous GS 450h, the only real problem is to find a screwdriver 10" long...
  21. Is oil the proper one 5W-xx or also 0W-xx ? No need in modern cars to pump on gas pedal.
