  1. Want a mixture of performance + looking??? Stay with the 18'' and get coilovers ;) 19'' are too stiff for accelerating with much power. There should be some more rubber around the wheel to smooth the power traction down to the ground. Guess why dragster have such small wheels and much rubber. Also in curves your 19'' will have grip until the deadly border.... after that you're away from the street. So go with 18''... far enough... 19'' is for looking a bit better. And don't waste money on springs..... get some coilovers and you can lower your car by yourself for summer and higher it for winter (snow and huge snow balls from other cars and trucks which loose them while driving). :winky: I will receive my HKS coilovers in about 5 days......
  2. OK I see you didn't check out what I meant..... forget it... :winky:
  3. And I was talking about the difference between BMW 330 and the IS300 engine OK? ;)
  4. The IS300 hasn't got 500-600hp though :duh: Neither has the 330... not the stock.... it's possible to boost it up until this power without any damage..... ;) Americans have already done on a couple of IS300 models.... between 330 and 600HP @crank
  5. The BMW engine is much lighter and can't take power-loads of 500-600HP @ crank. ;) It would blow up like a firework.
  6. Yes I know! the manual model is damn fast.... so the 6.8 secs are correct. Compete with the IS200 model..... manual 9.3secs auto 11.3secs or such Guess why I once watched out for an IS300 manual and planned to import one here to Austria.... ;) I also contacted US-Lexus Dealer for help, but that would require other ways. It's a bit complicated..... At all you can get tons of power with a turbo conversion and the tranny can take 450-500HP at the RWs. You could take it down to the mid 4s at 0-62mph.
  7. Once I asked for a bodykit and I got told, it would take about 1 month to receive it in USA and then about 1-2 weeks to get it here. Because for the IS200/IS300 the bodykits are not in stock. 400-500$ should be normal for bodykit shipping.
  8. I thought to rebuild my intake, because the old version of my intake system wasn't a real good solution. My friend and me have been in a tuning shop and I found a Honda Civic intake and so I bought and modified it. My old intake before exchange: This is the new pipe: (notice that small iron thing next to the measuring instrument. I needed it to make the big hole for the temp meter) Demounting of the old intake: Had to mark the cuts and holes: After cutting and drilling works: Finished work: Finished work: I also reseted the ECU and it felt a bit slower after this progress. But the power improved very quick, and I noticed that it accelerated smoother than before. But I'm sure the responsing of the acceleration will change after a few hundred kms. I also noticed that it got louder in the 5700-6200rpm area and pulled a bit better at high rpm, I saw that it pulled quicker to 220kph than it did before. :D At low rpm seems acceleration kept same as before. Well.... I'm pleased with it, because it's better work than it was.
  9. I have it for almost 1 year and I'm happy with that stuff. I noticed that it's a bit too long, because it was made for the IS300 and the IS300 has a longer rear bumper than the IS200. So it will fit 100%, but if you want to make the tip ending with the rear bumper you would have to cut off a short piece at the flange and weld the flange back on the pipe.... then it looks better. :D My method was: The first time I had an accident.... another car crushed into mine from behind (slow) and suddenly the exhaust was covered exactly with the rear bumper.... looked great. But the workshop rebuilt it, so it was too long again. The second time I drove around a bit hard until the exhaust was da*n hot, sat behind the car and punched it in with my foot. It worked not that bad, but not the greatest solution. But only mounting it under the car...... no problem. ;)
  10. Dam*! I filled my tank full with 98oct. fuel some time ago for about 4 tanks.... fuel prices increased and now I changed to 95 back. Result: My IS200 now needs the 1/4 tank for 100km. Those are 400km a tank..... (~250miles a tank) Dam* :tsktsk: If I do an ECU reset.... what will be the effect in the first few kms or 100kms.... don't know???
  11. You didn't reset? The result was that you needed 4 fuel tanks until it worked. If you would reset it, it changes the values quicker as far as I know. ==================================================== I heard that if you would add a turbo charger the stock ECU would also increase fuel to adjust the mixture. BUT: The ECU doesn't know what's happening suddenly when the turbo is spooling up. There is so much air in the engine, but the oxygen mixture at the lambda is OK at this time. So it doesn't increase fuel immediately, but just when the increased air reaches the lambda then the ECU will increase fuel. BUT: While the turbo is spooling up and pumping a*s-loads of air into the engine the fuel is too less and so the mixture is very, very lean so that it burns much too HOT and it can damage engine, O2 sensor and catalytic converter. If you would drive at 4800rpm for some while the ECU would increase the fuel until the mixture is OK, but just after some time. Fact: The biggest problem is while accelerating, the ECU doesn't know that it should suddenly give so much more fuel, and the mixture while spooling up is far too lean and causes much too hot burning progress. Meaning: the stock ECU is too slow to react, in cause of the stock settings.
  12. Interesting topic! There I also have a question. Would I notice any improvement with intake and exhaust when I would reset the ECU? Or would I also have to reset it when I change from 95octane fuel to 98octane fuel? Anybody knows??
  13. You forgot the one who says: "Everything is wrong you all wrote and you don't have any idea about changing light bulbs!" and the one who asks: "What is a light bulb? Is it something to eat?" :duh:
  14. And why is there the "L" on the grille? Because it's a Toyota? I know that they are owend by Toyota, but I make differences between Altezza and Lexus. VW isn't an Audi, but they are owned by VW, eh? Porsche too. Look into the engine bay, then you will notice the 3.0L engine. And not to forget the sound when he launchs at the beginning. NEVER A 2.0L!! And.... the Altezza has the IS200 tranny and it would blow up at 380HP if you would do an asphalt-drift with 380HP and tons of torque. But not the IS300 5-Speed manual it holds up to 450 or something.
  15. And if you know the sound of the 2JZ then you would know that this is this sound in the vid. Not of a 4 banger like the 3S.
  16. I bet you used only shampoo. But in winter there are tons of salt on the streets, in cause of the ice and snow so it makes holes and such into my wheels. I hope I can get a digicam then I will make a pic of mine, and there you can see hundreds of very small black holes in my wheels. Don't know if this happens to all alloy wheels.
  17. How come? Watch the Lexus logo on the grille, and Lexus doesn't own the name Altezza. ;) Altezza is Toyota. Lexus has the IS series and so it's the IS300.
  18. 3 months and want to wash it?? As far as I know you can use it for abou 60.000km until you have to wash it the first time. Only in cause it got dirty it's not stucked so that no air could get in..... But it's doesn't look nice, I have to agree.
  19. Yes the lambda should be fitted back on the same position, because the ECU reads data from "Before CAT" and "After CAT" to calculate correct values for A/F mixture. Don't know about the IS300, try to get some info about the IS300 exhaust, but as far as I know the IS300 and IS200 exhaust pipes are similar, except the header of course. Maybe it was a fault by the exhaust shop. If you could do it by yourself.... drill a hole and fit the sensor. Or cut out the little thing from the stock exhaust pipe and weld it into the new pipe. Just a suggestion, RR
  20. That's what I wanted to say, thanks. The car is made for great milage and will do well.... your exhaust will get clean and out of dust or other junk. :D Don't you have a buddy with a VW TDI (110 or 130HP pump-nozzle tech) who you could change cars with for those days??? You would save tons of money in fuel. (I don't know Diesel prices from UK, but I think it's also cheaper than gas there, is it?) NG, RR
  21. Sorry I confused. I meant "SimonSkippy".
  22. Yes the steering wheel is from TRD, it had build in air bag, and its a direct replacement for the IS200 steering wheel, i got it from here.. Takakaira Ah I know TakaKaira... And what did you pay for the steering wheel? Means: steering wheel + shipping + taxes etc..... ??? I'd be interested to purchase that stuff too..... :D
  23. Hi Maz! Where did you get that steering wheel from? The Red-Black combination is damn cool. That thing looks really sporty and awsome..... is it really from TRD? NG, RR
