  1. This has made me chuckle. I pitched the ISF as the 'sports version' of my IS250 and then as a V8....During a meal with the family I was asked for the size of the engine.....needless to say there were a few jaws dropping after hearing '5 litres'. Father in law said "what mpg will that do", I replied "didn't buy it for the mpg" :-) Lol. Currently the other half is still taking to me, I think I'm out of the woods and loving the ISF.
  2. Agreed Ace, I purchased mine privately from another member in February, at the time very few options available on AT. Plenty available at the moment, seem to be coming on quicker than they're selling!?!? Good for ISF hunters who will have the best number of options there's been for a while. Not looking back though as very happy with my car :-)
  3. My 2008 ISF spent three years in the Republic Of Ireland and was serviced once by Lexus and twice by Toyota. I did consider getting a quote from Toyota but I think it's best to have Lexus stamps, any thoughts?
  4. I imagine they have targets/directives from their managers like all businesses and if they are doing well.....less likely to need my business and negotiate. Just waiting on Reading Lexus, who have offered no discount at all, then will make the call.
  5. Amazed at the price difference in the South East or maybe it's just the Vantage group offering great deals! Spoke to Lexus Birmingham who quoted £666 for two year plan (full and intermediate) including 2 free MOT's. Best I can get is £756 and full price MOT's! Very little willing to offer a discount past 5-10%.
  6. Vantage group are only Birmingham and Leeds, nothing nearby. The others are different groups Jemca, Incape and Currie.
  7. So three quotations for two year plan (1 major, 1 intermediate) obtained from my nearest dealerships...... *Reading: £870 inc VAT (half price MOT's, 10% parts discount, discounted labour, free brake fluid change). *Guildford: £840 inc VAT (free valet). *Twickenham: £756 inc VAT (no additional benefits). Currently still in negotiations but Twickenham have my business unless the others can offer a more competitive deal, also felt Twickenham wanted my business and were knowledgeable about the ISF.
  8. Personally.....if a car hasn't been serviced as it should have, that owner hasn't shown much/enough care for the vehicle. I just wouldn't want to buy off someone with that mindset. Many of these cars are having warranty slapped on to make up for the lack of service history which will give some peace of mind sure.... but wasn't for me. When these cars are 10+ years old the lexus warranty might not be available??
  9. I find the suspension totally acceptable but I guess that comes down to personal preference. If you're not going to track the car, the LSD might not be worth the extra spend for a newer model. Either way you won't be disappointed!
  10. In my opinion....even if you can live with the lack of service history etc, you will inherit a problem when you come to sell. Even nicely maintained examples with higher mileage (circa 100k miles) stay for sale for quite a while... And that's a much more acceptable compromise due the their reliability. You could be waiting a long time to sell or have to take a big hit on the price.
  11. The major 60k /6 year was carried out and I confirmed this to them. Will wait for a call back from Guildford and Twickenham Lexus.
  12. Thanks for this info Gib, mine is also a 2008 as you probably know, you gave me the heads up a couple of months back. Will certainly shop around and negotiate between a couple of the other local'ish dealers.
  13. Wow.....seems like the quote I have is high. No breakdown. They also quoted a three year plan, 2 full and 1 intermediate which was £1,580! The car has already had its 6 year/60,000 service!
  14. Hi, been trying to arrange a fixed service plan with Reading Lexus for my ISF. Two year quote was for: + one full service + one intermediate service + tyres at cost price, half price MOT's, 10% parts discount, discounted labour, free brake fluid change (where applicable. Price: £870 Inc VAT I could try Edgware Road or Twickenham but Reading is by far the most convenient dealership. I also have the two year extended warranty with them. Does this seems fair or am I better off shopping around once the service is due? Will undoubtedly arrange brakes/discs with my local mechanic. Many thanks! Mark.
  15. Having recently purchased an ISF I will now be selling my lexus F sport intake. It was purchased from a US Lexus main dealer on eBay back in March 2015. Sensible offers considered. Paid about £300 in total.
  16. If you look on autotrader, the white 2008 priced at £19,995 (SSC) has had the LED daytime running lights fitted.
  17. Sad times indeed.... but hopefully only on the rare occasion due to the ISF scarcity. Maybe with the limited 'bolt ons' available in max power magazine, they will soon get bored ;-)
  18. So I spoke with Admiral and they charged an extra £17 for an 'exterior modification'. I know it's a small thing and would have probably never been an issue but worth it for the peace of mind. I have found them to be quite good, insuring the car whilst on Irish number plate and with small mods on my old Is250.
  19. After much research I've ordered the fronts 245/35/19 Hankook Ventus S1 EVO 2. They were £290 for the pair including mobile fitting by the AA. Peter, as I inherited this car with the wider tyres (same sizes as youve quoted) , whats been your experience with insurance, should I call insurer (Admiral) to disclose this? I will let you know how they perform!
  20. Thanks for the input, wet grip is important so I might move away from the Vredsteins, will get prices for the Hankook, Pilot Sports and Continental SP6.
  21. Hi chaps.....Looking for a consensus of opinion. I've had the ISF for about a month now, and inherited brand new Vredstein's on the back 275/30/19 and worn Vredstein's 245/35/19 on the front. The fronts now need to be changed as they are close to limit, both worn on the inside of the tyre. Are these tyres worth sticking with or are there an option that ISF owners on the whole prefer? Thanks in advance, Mark.
