  1. I would think so. Don't know what the answer is though - complain to council and ask for tree pruning/management?
  2. That's a lot better than mine. I don't try and drive economically but I also don't drive like a lunatic Currently, I'm getting 28 to 30 mpg mostly urban rather than motorway
  3. Actually I'm beginning to think I might have done it. My daughters place is really awkward to park on-street and the kerbs are quite high. Anyway, got a quote today for £100 + vat so I've booked it in.
  4. Was that with one of these AutoSmart type companies or a normal bodyshop?
  5. Yeah it does look like kerb damage. I'll get a few quotes but that gives me hope that it not going to be mega-expensive. Still gutted though!
  6. Just noticed this damage on my IS I think I would have realised if I had done this while driving the car so that implies that the damage was on the car when I bought it and I didn't notice it! I looks like this panel isn't metal so it should be a case of sand/fill/repaint - hopefully not too expensive to repair? The panel looks as if it will come of with a few bolts and clips removed, can anyone confirm? Gutted!
  7. Just spotted these on the net - not cheap though (and I don't know if they'll fit as they're for an IS250/350) https://www.stillen.com/exterior/carbon-fiber-car-parts/rocker-panel-and-side-skirts/vehicle/2015-lexus-is250.html
  8. The standard setup is a staggered one, 255/40R18 on the rear, 225/40R18 on the front I think this means you need 18x8 rims for the front and 18x9 rims for the rear PCD is 115.43x5 and I believe the offset is ET45
  9. Well the advantage of paying for the refurb is that you've got a fair degree of confidence that the part will work when fitted and should last a few years - and £250 is not to be sniffed at, it will pay for a couple of tyres at least lol Hope it all works out OK for you
  10. That sounds like a good result - that's not much more than some breakers would charge for something of unknown provenance (is it just me or are breakers getting greedy with their parts pricing?) Care to share where you found it? It might be useful reference for other owners in the future
  11. Looks a lovely car I don't know if it's the same on the IS200t but on mine, the odometer can be switched between total mileage, trip 1 and trip2 - just push the button to the left of the odometer.
  12. Does this mean you've decided you can live without the paddle shifters?
  13. The Lexus extended warranty is available on all models up to 10 years old and with less than 140K on the clock. So an 09/10 IS250 SE-L can be covered. I think I've read somewhere that cars bought through independent dealers need a pre-inspection but it doesn't seem to mention that on the website T&C's.
  14. Perusing AT, it would seem you're right - flappy paddles on the F-Sport models only. They appear to return on the later Premium and Luxury models but they may be over-budget.
  15. Yes, I looked at Autosol a few others, ended up with Meguairs NXT metal polysh. I did spray some WD-40 on before polishing, left for about 30mins before starting - didn't seem to do much. I've got some white spirit in the cupboard. I'll give that a try.
  16. It's a lot better but not as clean as I hoped it would be. What was the solvent you used?
  17. I've owned my IS250 for a month today! One of the things that's annoying me is the state of the exhaust tips. So today I set to work with some steel wool and some metal polish. I only managed to do one and that took me about an hour and a half. Even so, I'm not really happy with the results This is what I started with and this is after 90 mins of polishing by hand with steel wool and cloths I will have to have a go at the other one tomorrow.
  18. The recommendation is that the plugs are changed at 60K or 10 years. The reason that this service is expensive is that they're difficult to get to, parts of the engine need to be dismantled to gain access and this takes time and hence costs more money. Otherwise, I think servicing costs and consumable parts are generally in line with most of the industry and cheaper than some. At the age/mileage your looking at, the Lexus extended warranty is worth considering - it's now £895 I believe. It doesn't cover the exhaust - which is expensive to replace - so make sure this is in good order before you buy.
  19. Well I'm sure the dealer would simply say, "it was working correctly when tested". I doubt they do much more than a functional test anyway. I hope it doesn't turn out to be too expensive to fix
  20. Had another go at my mirror today. As it happens a quick squirt of WD-40 on the non-functional motor appears to have brought it back to life :) I was kicking myself when I realised I hadn't done that originally. However, while I was waiting to find time to have another go at repairing the mirror, I did manage to find what I thought was a suitable replacement motor. This appears to be a drop in replacement Mabuchi Motor FC-140RE I can confirm that it does drop into the recess and that the power pins are the right spacing to fit. As I opted to retain the original motor, I only got as far as testing it to confirm that it fitted and that it spins when switched on but it would seem to be an acceptable replacement in the event of a motor failure. They are available from Amazon UK at £3.25 and on ebay from various sellers in the far east - eg Link
  21. that makes more sense... I thought 82K in 4 months was pushing things! the reg plate in the photos is 07 so that's more likely
