  1. Checking my manual, it states that the setting can be adjusted by the dealer, so you probably need the techstream software and adaptor cable to make the change.
  2. I was under the impression that cloudy headlights could be restored by polishing (although ideally not using toothpaste) and I've seen several YouTube videos where this has been done.
  3. Ask the seller which Lexus dealer did the recent servicing then ring the Lexus dealer and speak to the service department. They're usually quite helpful in my experience and will confirm if/when the 60K service was done.
  4. I'm no expert but it doesn't look like it from the exploded parts diagram, all the hoses are on the upper side as is the fuel pump.
  5. Looks very nice, mk2 model as well. Lucky to get it for such a good price.
  6. I don't think you can rely on the assumption. Good garages will, others might not.
  7. Eventually got it done at the used-car branch of the same group that has the Lexus dealership in my area. Very professional and courteous service, they quoted with original lexus part or with pattern part, price difference was £25 so decided to pay the extra for peace of mind. Got them to give me the old bits back which came in the packing for the new part so I'm sure they fitted genuine lexus components. Had a nice chat with the service manager about brake servicing and sticking caliper pins. He's assured me that if I take it in for a brake service they will lubricate the caliper pins as part of the service. So that will be my next move. .
  8. If it had just been reupholstered, then the plastic seat covers would have been ivory? whereas they are black with white control buttons. On the other hand: from the official brochure So perhaps it might have been a factory option. Still doesn't explain the non-perforated seats on an SE-L though
  9. Looks very dodgy, Linas is right, the SE-L should have ventilated seats. Can't imagine this was a factory option - must have had the seats replaced somewhere along the line.
  10. Just spotted this on Autotrader, not seen one with a two tone interior before.. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201607025482559
  11. Ah! Private sale then? Same car would have been more expensive from a dealer.
  12. Sounds like a very good deal, even accounting for minor damage.
  13. I can only comment on UK values but IMO, an '07 SE-L Auto with average mileage would be 5.5K to 6.5K from a dealer depending on options (SAT NAV / ML Audio), condition and history. How did you negotiate the price, have you seen the car?
  14. One place you might like to consider is NFU Mutual. They don't go through comparison websites so you will have to contact them for a quote. I doubt they will be the cheapest but I've found them reasonable and I've been with them since 2009. Fortunately, I've not had any accident claims but I've used their breakdown service a couple of times. However, whenever I've had need to contact them for cover notes, change of car, etc. they have been excellent. And never, any 'admin' charges mentioned! It also helps that you are ringing a local branch office and not some mega-call centre somewhere. Finally, most importantly, NFU have been in the top five for customer satisfaction in any survey of car insurance companies I have seen.
  15. I don't think there was much difference between '05 and '08 the update happened for 2009 when the wing mirrors got indicators and the front grille design changed.
  16. I'm surprised.. I've had the centre console out and that is all plastic.
  17. It is an SE-L, it has the wood-effect trim inside and the headlamp washers. Well spotted on the lower front damage - a point to haggle over price. Might not be too much to fix but need a better picture of the damage and get a quote first so you know what you are working with.
  18. You may have a point Linas (how do you do that thing where you get the forum handle to show up? - nevermind..) but most of us are buying cars that have a few miles on them already so we don't know how the previous owners have been refueling their cars. So it's still a risk to take. I don't make a habit of driving with a full tank because you are carrying extra weight and cost but I don't like to see the fuel warning light come on.

  20. Sorry to hear what's happened. The main thing is that no-one was injured so that's to be thankful for. Hope you get sorted soon and without too much hassle. Some insurance companies are better than others in this regard. The Dashcam is a good idea, I've got one in my car for this very reason. Hope I don't need it anytime soon though! Best of luck
  21. I'm sure someone will correct me if this is 'urban myth' but I have been told it's not good for the engine to run too low into fuel reserves. The reasoning being that any contaminants will be at the bottom of the tank and so you may end up feeding 'dirty' fuel into the engine.
