  1. Free brake check 😅😅😅 I'm sorry to say sir but you need new discs and pads all round at a price of £500 please.
  2. I bought the car from an independent garage. The 3 month warranty has now expired. I'm hoping it's the brake pads but passed mot 4 months ago with no mention of low brake pads. I've a feeling it's a seized caliper.
  3. It's definitely not the exhaust. The noise is definitely louder the slower I drove. Only had the car 3 months and seriously regretting buying it. Had a variety of problems with my previous is220d and now have a problem already with the is250.
  4. My is250 has developed a roaring sort of sound when turning the steering wheel and exactly the same noise when hitting the brakes. It's much louder when coming to a stop. The cars only done 25k so I doubt the wheel bearings have gone. Could it be the brake pads or disks or even the power steering. Any ideas?
  5. Not the best oil but perfectly fine to use it. I wouldn't leave it in any longer than about 5k before your next oil change though.
  6. £850 at a lexus dealership is very good. I'm quite surprised actually as people have said on the forum lexus charge up to 2 grand.
  7. Sorry to say my friend but it's showing the same symptoms as mine when the head gasket failed. Luckily for me I have a mechanic mate who fitted me a new gasket for £450 but your looking at around £600-£700 at an indy garage and a couple of grand if you go to lexus. Don't meen to sound harsh but geting rid of the diesel for the 250 is the best thing I've ever done.
  8. Great stuff 👍 only 10 mins for me so might walk it and have a few 🍺🍺🍺
  9. Yes rayaans the previous and only other owner averaged 4k a year in the car. How do you rate those leather wipes sold in supermarkets such as Lord Sheraton and Mr sheen leather wipes.
  10. Thanks kodiak sky. 👍 it's a different brochure to the one I viewed online.
  11. My car has the dark gray leather seats but looking at the 2010 lexus brochure only light gray is listed. Would my colour have been fitted as an optional extra by any chance?
  12. My cars a 2010 with only 24k on the clock and the seats are already wearing pretty bad especially the drivers side. Dread to think what they will look like in 2 or 3 years time. The leathers far to soft in my opinion, extremely comfortable yes but its a shame as the engines and gearbox last an eternity in the 250. The interior unfortunately dosnt.
  13. Spotted a broken down lexus is220d Tuesday 7th February approximately 7.30am on the A34 bloxwich near the bell pub. Loc sticker in the back window. Was it you?
  14. Doubt very much I'll ever buy another lexus. My previous is220d was a nightmare. Head gasket went. Egr and dpf problems. Seized calipers. 5th injector problem. Turbo wastegate stuck. Total ballache. My current is250 is a dream to drive and extremely comfortable but only let down by the poor performance. OK I know it's not a sports car but for a 2.5l v6 petrol it's definitely underpowered. It's needs at least another 30 horses to keep up with the bmw325i and others in its class. I've made my mind up that my next car will be a bmw328i
  15. I had the same rattle in the centre console on my old 220d. In my current 250 I have annoying door and seatbelt rattle.
  16. Water pump going on a IS250 at 44k is shocking. Brake calipers on lexus IS are a disgrace. It's almost as though they designed them to seize up. Not what you would expect from a so called prestige car.
  17. Sounds like your master cylinder is on the way out out or maybe low on brake fluid. Best to visit your nearest lexus service centre for a diagnosis. Check vsc is almost always lit up on the is220d as it's always having problems due to being a very unreliable car. In fact it's an embarrassment to lexus. Only good thing about it is looks the same as the far superior IS250 apart from its single down facing exhaust pipe that blows all its soot into the tarmac.
  18. Most probably egr valve or dpf. Give it a good belting down the motorway at 3000 rpm or more for 30 minutes. If light still on remove egr valve and clean thoroughly.
  19. Did i read somewhere that if you go with the lexus essencial service they don't stamp the service book?
  20. I wouldn't say it was condensation as it wasn't that cold at the time and the engine was fully warm. I've also noticed loads of white smoke coming from the pipes when stationery. I'm going to get it looked at I think.
  21. The car came with 18 inch tsuki wheels when I purchased the car. The lady who bought the car from new had them fitted as an optional extra. As far as I'm aware the 2010 sei has 17 inch wheels fitted as standard.
  22. Well I'm booked in for Saturday morning to have 2 new dunlop sport max fitted to the front. To be honest though I really thought the michelins would have been fine as they are not winter tyres but all season.
  23. OK gunk not the best word. More like dirty grey smoke on 3 or 4 occasions when floored. Never had this with regular unleaded but started not long after filling up with shell nitro. I can only assume the grey smoke was the nitro clearing the system.
  24. Yes the dunlops are 255 and the michelins are 225. Never gave the insurance a second thought to be honest but I'll probably change the fronts this weekend to either goodyear eagles or dunlop sport max to be on the safe side.
  25. Sorry about my first post steveledzep. I really did think it would be the normal click associated with the 250 engine but I'm glad to hear your sorted bud 👍
