  1. I changed mine just last week along with the oil and filter and air filter. At 24000 miles it wasn't due but I had the day free so decided to do a mini service. The old cabin filter was as clean as the new filter. I think every 30k is probably overkill but it's a doddle to change. The air filter on the other hand was black and definitely needed a change. In fact I'll be changing it every 12 months in future.
  2. Apparently the shell nitro is now only rated at 97 ron now. The old v power was 99 ron.
  3. It's almost certainly the head gasket. Same thing happened with my is220d. Any good independent garage in your area will do the job. I paid £450. God only knows what lexus will charge. Only problem is once its fixed there's a good chance it will go again in the future due to the amount of movement in the D4D engine.
  4. I'm in cannock staffs so count me in 👍
  5. I think a few people will be losing the rear end this weekend driving in this snow that's forcast. My cars staying in the garage.
  6. Rebecca, an extended warranty is always good to have and if you can afford it and want peace of mind then go for it. However in my opinion with a low mileage is250 like yours it's going to be a long long time before you need a mechanic and after the 2 years is up you will be kicking yourself with what you could of spent the £895 on. That's the gamble.
  7. Well I'm glad to hear you didn't book with halfords. I wouldn't trust them with an old Ford or vauxhall never mind a lexus. I'm sure I read somewhere one lad took his car to halfords for a service and they lost half the engine cover clips. I'm about 6k away from the 30k major and was planning on using lexus Wolverhampton as it only 8 miles drive for me but incidentally there's s toyota dealership next door to lexus and if I can save £75 like yourself then I'll be using the toyota garage.
  8. I bought my car from available car.com which are not known for bargain motors and strictly do not haggle on price. The price advertised is the price you pay. It has got the optional 18 inch wheels though and in my opinion really suit the lexus more than the standard 17 inch. Rebecca I would happily pay the extra 2 grand for a 2011 f-sport with that sort of milage.
  9. I paid £11000 for my 2010 sei in October. I'm beginning to think I got ripped off now. Mind you the car only had 22k on the clock and really is in prestige condition.
  10. I have uniroyal rainsport fitted on the rear. I can't recommend these tyres enough in the wet. They stick to the road like glue and not too expensive either. Only downside is their not the most long lasting of tyres.
  11. Personally I'd go to an independent garage and ask for an oil and filter change, air and cabin filter change and brake flush and save £££s
  12. Only ever had 1 car serviced by halfords. Within 30 minutes of collecting the car it broke down. Had to call out the rac who said a vaccume pipe had been disconnected. Never again.
  13. Nwc100 you say it feels slower than your is200. There is a button below the steering wheel towards the left called ect power. Switch this on and give it a good kickdown then let us know if it feels slower. Don't take any notice of the claimed 0-60 time of 8.4 seconds. It's a good second quicker. Be sure to post some pics of your new lexus when you collect it for us all to see.
  14. I actually found the is220d a great car when running right. Far more engaging than the lazy boy is250 and when that turbo eventually kicked it it shifted. Not as quick to 60mph as the 250 but mid range power the diesel will certainly keep up. Sure the gearbox is not the best but you soon get used to it and simply adjust your driving style to suit. Head gaskets can be a problem but any car can blow a gasket. Happened to me twice on non lexus cars. 5th injector is often a problem but a trip to lexus who will do some reprogramming of the ecu will cure the grey smoke issue. We all know the 250 is generally a better and more reliable car but you diesel guys just remember its a lexus is and you should be proud to own and drive one. Happy new year to all you lexus owners. I'm off to get drunk 🍺🍺🍺
  15. Perfect example happened to me today as I pulled up alongside a lexus is200t at the lights on a duel carriageway. We both looked at each other and knew the race was on. Despite the 200t claiming to hit 60mph in 6.8 seconds there was very little in it by the time we both hit 60 and I mean very little ( half a car length) With ect power switched on its definitely not 8.4 -60 mph. About 7.2 in my opinion.
  16. Had the same problem in my is220d. The cause was the squib in the drivers knee airbag. I used to push the wiring up under the footwell and it knocked the light off for a few days but came back on after driving over a pot hole or two. In the end I simply fitted a cable tie to the squid and it solved the problem.
  17. It's seems to be a common niggle on the lexus is. My previous is had the rattle on both the front driver and passenger doors. My current is250 had it on the driver side but a light coating of petroleum jelly did the trick.
  18. Almost certainly it's the fuse. I've had many pop over the years on various cars and very easy to change yourself if you know the location and amp rating, but as you say your not confident in messing then take it back to the dealer in the new year and they will have it sorted in a jiffy. In the meantime just wipe the rear window with a clean rag before you set of on a journey.
  19. The last couple of weeks ive been doing a fair amount of motorway miles along the M54 from cannock - shrewsbury and back (approximately 70 miles) at a steady 70mph. According to the trip computer I'm averaging 43 mpg. No complaints from me at all.
  20. Well I did say I would give regular unleaded a try and have now run 2 tank fulls of esso 95 compared to the shell nitro when I first purchased the car. I can honestly say I feel no difference whatsoever in performance or mpg. The car runs exactly the same as it did using the posh stuff and with the extra £8 or so I save per tank in fuel means extra beer money at the weekend 😀
  21. Over the years I can't recall ever changing the battery in any of my key fobs. I always keep a couple of spare though just in case. one one the glove box and one at home.
  22. Actually I've just had a play with the sensors . It's does actually bleep when it detects anything near the front side of the car but nothing directly ahead of the vehicle . is this normal ?
  23. If my car does have front sensors than they don't work .the green light comes on the dash when activated from the satellite switch but the beeps don't activate no matter how close I park up to an obstacle .
  24. Had the same problem on my old 220d.I had to have a new pump fitted. fits under front wing passenger side.
  25. My 2010 250 sei with sat nav only has the reverse camera. Even though I have the sensors fitted to the front I only have rear park assistance or maybe I'm missing something .
