  1. I'm glad the 220d days are behind me. Too much trouble with egr and dpf. The 250 just runs as sweet as a nut with trouble free happy motoring 😊
  2. I agree Rebecca it is definitely quicker than the official lexus claim of 8.3 seconds. 0-60 is entirely possible in 7.1 seconds in ect power on and traction off with left foot on the brake and a high revving start. Running the car on shell v power definitely improves power on the is250 as the high compression ratio of 12 .0.1 engine really does perform better with high octane fuel.
  3. No traffic light grand prix for me in the is250 I'm afraid 😔 I tried it once against a ford mondeo tdi and it out accelerated me. I felt quite embarrest to be honest 😳
  4. I'm no mechanic but I managed to clean out my egr valve quite easily with a decent socket set. Took me about an hour to complete the job. I didn't soak the egr valve overnight as advised but gave it a good scrubbing with carb cleaner and an old toothbrush. Mine wasn't as clogged as yours but it made a noticeable difference to pickup and mpg afterwards.
  5. Sounds like the AC pump is knackered. There should be a connector on the ac pump which you can just unplug. The other thing that really pulls my electrics down is the radiator fan kicking in when the ac is on (which usually only comes on when you are stationary).Does your fan cut in? You'd hardly miss it as you will hear and feel it and all the lights on the car will dim.I wonder if your fan is faulty and causing a short/drain.The other thing I wonder about is whether your MAF is on the way out? If the maf signal is poor and reads erratically at low air flows then your idle may not be stable under load.First port of call would be the ac pump I reckon. Disconnect the electrical connector and see if the problem goes away
  6. Spotted my first ever lexus isf today at around midday near the village of great heywood heading towards stafford at speed. Sounded lovely. Was it you?
  7. I had a side mirror buggered up in my vauxhall astra several years ago with a drive through car wash. Never again. I get the local Latvian lads down the road to wash it these days for £2.99 and they do a cracking job.
  8. Your lucky it's only blowing bulbs. Mine kept blowing head gaskets.
  9. Daft as it sounds a rubber will shift it. A rubber on the end of a pencil should do the trick but ink rubbers are also available.
  10. I always knew lexus made luxurious cars but a swimming pool in the rear is something else.
  11. Gently rub some vanish gold onto it with a damp cloth. It will do the trick 😉
  12. I totally agree with Rebecca. Lexus wheels are rubbish. I've had tatty old ford's and vauxhall over the years with not a hint of wheel corrosion. I'm on my second lexus now, both low milage cars but the wheels are a disgrace. Paint flaking left right and centre. Not what you expect with a prestige car. Very disappointing.
  13. Just out of curiosity is it possible to remap the is250 here in the uk and has anybody ever had one done? If so did it make a noticeable difference. I remember reading a while back that nobody has managed to remap the lexus but thought by now somebody may have cracked it. As I say I'm just curious and wouldn't chip mine as I'm totally happy with the car the way it is.
  14. I'm running the original lexus pads now on the front and it's virtually eliminated the brake groan. Those cheap pagid pads were great for stopping the car but to noisy for me. Also been running ect off as Rebecca suggested. Very true the gear changes do seem smoother and less jerky when slowing down. Throttle response is dampened too and you have to push down more to get up to speed. When floored ect off is just as quick as ect on in my opinion . Can't notice any difference at all in steering response at all with ect on or off.
  15. To be honest I've not drove the car with ect power off for many months but I'll try it tomorrow on my way to work.
  16. There is no doubt about it. It's the 5th injector that's the problem.
  17. I need to stop reading these threads and watching the clips otherwise I'm going to end up remortgaging my house.
  18. Perfectly normal my is250 does exactly the same.
  19. Brembo definitely better than the pagid pads. Less grumble and better braking power. Not as good as the original lexus pads though. Definitely the best pads and worth the extra money.
  20. Unfortunately I had a few problems with my is220d but when running right it was a great car. One thing I miss is that sudden urge of power in 2nd when you floor it around 1800rpm when the turbo kicks in.
  21. That's odd I wasn't aware the front pads have retaining springs. I know the rears do.
  22. It's a common problem with the is220d I'm afraid along with many other deisel cars that are used on short journeys. They need regular good beltings on the motorway to keep them running well. Your car will feel much better after an egr clean up. I had the same problem myself. The is250 is the better car around town. Trust me it won't give you any problems what so ever.
  23. Nothing yet bud. Had the letter about a year ago regarding the passenger airbag fault but heard nowt since.
  24. Absolutely stunning both inside and out. My next lexus will be a 200t but need used prices to drop by a couple of grand first.
