  1. Good luck in your search...with the used market being so buoyant the cheapest private facelifted 2014 (sensible 50k miles) on the autotrader is 13250, main lexus dealer about 14950 (which is warranted / approved) To stick with your budget you may need to go for an above average mileage example..keep us posted
  2. I had made some comments in an earlier post when I owned my CT200H See below When first moving across from a VAG 2.0 turbo diesel ,I missed the torque and response, you may also. I kept the CT for 2 years before moving to an IS300, I feel the 2.5 is much better suited to the petrol hybrid combination for an all round package Would I have another diesel? Yes I think I would, but with all the general issues you can get (dpf, clutch, flywheel) I don't miss not having to think about those
  3. Cannot help with the sensor location, I was under the impression it was behind the badge but that may only be applicable to facelift 2017 onwards. In relation to your purchase/transaction you have rights, see the following https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/105951/your-rights-when-buying-a-used-car%3famp Hope this helps
  4. Good luck with your discussion, hopefully you have some form of recourse to get things sorted. The cruise control missing stalk is a puzzler unless it's simply been accidentally snapped off then not replaced? Some car manufacturers do have reliability issues with cruise, VAG being one of them but Toyota /Lexus are very robust... Do you know if your car has RADAR cruise as standard as something may have happened at the front of your car and sensor not replaced which I know can be expensive... It's worth checking spec and the front of your car to double check all ok as the missing stalk could open the can of worms..... Is the garage a mainstream reputable and got good reviews or is it more of an independent ?
  5. Looks like your looking in to things...assume you didn't purchase from a lexus main dealer as you wouldn't expect things to pass their checks...hopefully you got the car for a good price to get things sorted...cruise control stalk missing looks slightly disturbing ..
  6. Just had a look at the photo and noticed if you zoom in the trims on the top of the doors between front door and rear door are not aligned...it could point to that the door has been painted and quickly put back together with the trim misaligned. If it has been painted then it could have been something from a deep scratch to a more crease type repair. I know that white is a bit of a pain to match and than can be even if they get the correct colour code from the system. If you've just bought the car, the dealer may not have even noticed it or may have done it themselves, definitely worth looking over in detail and ask them to sort it for you early doors as it looks an incorrect colour match. Also this sounds a bit picky but I would also have expected the car to have dust caps on the tyre valves if you got this from a main lexus dealer! They don't look to be any on in the picture? Keep us posted on the check/,outcome if you are going to investigate
  7. It will be interesting to see what the impact of this will be on anyone who is waiting for a new car as well as any affect on the used prices of Lexus vehicles overall. Further increase in demand? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-59646699
  8. Ref. Your tyre pressure sensors. They have probably ignored them on the basis of the recent winter temperature drops that we've encountered that can trigger the tyre sensor alarms causing the light to illuminate.
  9. One final comment from me that you can feedback on. In the words of their current campaign "Experience Amazing" - you have not! One of the other comments on leaving the old parts of what they have done in the service. I wouldn't want an old oil filter full of oil left anywhere in the car so one to be careful of in case their dummy came out and the instruction was taken literally. Finally, a lot of franchises are trying to digitally transform with limited paperwork so again, be good if the apps not only showed your car had been serviced but also provided full details as per the traditional tick sheet methods
  10. Bad enough with a non executive car in a mainstream dealer but when you are paying premium service prices you expect a premium service. You would not have known this wasn't done unless your friend pointed it out. I know a number of lexus dealers are now providing videos as part of health and service checks which allows them the opportunity (for the tech) to tell you what they've done to your car. I recently got one from a Toyota dealer also when they carried out a major service and was well impressed when the tech outlined everything he had done aligning to the service schedule. Doesn't take a great deal of effort and should be mandated to provide clear evidence of work carried out. That's the type of suuggestion/feedback to lexus uk who should roll it out to the franchised network of dealers working on their vehicles.
  11. Looks like they quoted for a real proper job to put your car back to the same level before your accident. Good job you didn't damage the tailgate as would be an eye watering bill. Its quite scary how a small amount of damage can cost a lot to put right and is a high percentage of the cars value. Definately an insurance claim I guess then....
  12. Looking at your pictures and based on who you get to do the work (if you want a proper job) I would estimate you would not see much change from 1000-1200 for this. Again assuming this is all cosmetic with no damage encountered behind the cover. It looks like on top of the bumper cover damage you have a damaged parking sensor visible, the other sensors may also have taken a knock so may be it is recommended you need a new set of these will also need painting before fitting. You'd also need a new bumper protector for the top of it if you wanted like for like. As an estimated guess take your parts costs and at multiply by a min of 2.5 to include paint and labour costs. It may be pertinent to claim on your insurance to get the best job as the costs can sharp creep up with these things. It will be interesting to see what your estimate comes in at.
  13. If your car has not been in a dealer for a service or been in a dealer where they are obliged to reset it post service, the process I believe may be similar to Toyota. Like below I wouldn't however recommend that it's done to simply stop the maintenance warning appearing as it could be appearing for other reasons that trigger this. Turn on your engine. Flip your Odometer/Trip Display to ODO mode or TRIP A mode, depending on the model. Turn the ignition switch off. Hold the Trip Meter Reset button while turning the ignition switch back on. Wait for the maintenance light to blink, turn solid, and then turn off.
  14. I've owned a number of Lexus hybrids now and consider them to be a quiet driving experience. That said I am not sure if sometimes the quiet experience has you picking up on any noises that may end up being an irritation. One thing I have just noticed on my 300H (and appreciate if other members can confirm) is that when changing from drive to reverse and that you hear the click of a relay from around the glove box area. It's the same latching relay sound that you get when turning your lights to main beam. I have noted that you don't get the same relay sound as you do on other cars when switching to high/full beam which I find quite nice. With the focus from lexus on a quiet driving experience would it be great if some of these general noises could be irradicated once and for all. Appreciate that some noises just cannot be got rid of and wonder at times if lexus ownership has made these noises magnified for me when they should just be expected.
  15. Looks a sharp car, you will have to keep updating on how you find it compared to the IS. I am considering th ES at some stage. You will also now need to wash it 👍👍👍👍
  16. Very common with Toyota and Lexus. Normally starts flagging about 8 years old and ready for replacement at 10 years old. The one to watch is you can get a fuel leak at the bottom of the pipe on the bend before it goes through the rubber interfacing with the tank. Essentially it means if your fuel tank is more than say half full you always have fuel in the very bottom section of the pipe which if corroded/holed starts to leak. The corrosion is brought on as a result of the UK salted roads and that the pipe is always exposed to surface water, salt and general road grime throughout its lifespan. A lot of third party replacement pipes available but some of the Toyota and lexus range not really available, I guess due to not much demand due to the limited number of cars on the road.
  17. Just re-igniting this topic again. PCP again.... A used UX Takumi (and others that are worse) https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/UX/250h-20-Takumi-5dr-CVT-jjch4vy#vfinance £34310 on the road 2 years at 10000 mile a year. GFV of £18,381.25 Payment £802 x 23...total £18,446 Works out seriously expensive car to drive over a short period of time. Where is the customer base? In checking other hybrids, seems the residuals are predicted to be not so strong and wonder if this finance model is based on a forecast that pure EV will be in greater demand or perhaps its something else.
  18. The cost was £170.00 for 6-7 hours of work which I felt was more than reasonable considering time/materials etc. I have seen costs starting at more than twice that but expect these are pitched at higher end motors
  19. I know recently I have seen a number of posts on where members have purchased a used lexus and have been unhappy with the attention to detail of the cleaning of the car at the point of delivery. I have had my IS300H a number of months now and this was supplied by a Lexus main dealer. Although generally the car was supplied valeted and cleaned, again it did appear that the job was not as good to the last time I took delivery of my last car (about 3 years back) One message I had got from a contact of mine in the industry was that a lot of used cars have been changing hands due to households offloading cars due to the covid pandemic. He also stated with cars standing, that they have somewhat been neglected especially externally where they have been allowed to be exposed to the elements including a lot of birds dirt that when left can cause a lot of damage. The droppings contain uric acid which is corrosive enough to eat through coatings and begin to etch the paint. With this in mind I decided to give the car a real good check over and as you would expect you start to see the blemishes, scratches, swirls that it's picked up over time. It was then I started to look in to detailing and the work involved behind it. It was interesting to discuss and check various posts on forums where even a car a few months old can pick up swirls, scratches, marks etc, all primarily down to incorrect car washing. I know that a lot of folk these days (including myself) are using hand car washes at 6, 7 and 8 quid a go where you are getting a quick 10 minute wash and dry, tyre shine etc. that does cover a lot of work/detail for the money but when you start asking the experts they do then point to the marks your car is picking up that a high percentage of them is simply down to improper washing. With all of the above in mind I then discussed getting the car detailed from a chap who's been in the business for around 6 years and the results were amazing. From the enhancement to the paitntwork, the marks, scratch and swirl removal along with the final wax finish that was like glass have finished the car to a fantastic standard. It got me thinking that it's such a shame that a brand like lexus and its approved dealerships wouldn't half benefit from finishing an approved used lexus with attention to detail like this. I guess it comes down to maximising profits and if they can get away with a rough 25 quid mini valet from a chap around the corner then that's the route they take. Here's a couple of pics of the finished result for any interested members
  20. IS300H - Just back from a road trip, 600 mile total, full mix of motorway (300 mile), A & B roads (300 mile) - Average on the computer 47.8 MPG Hope this helps
  21. Has anyone seen or got a part number for a set of door Edge guards for the IS300H. Having a quick look around it looks as though you can actually obtain these colour coded for various models in the lexus range. I know that these are not to everyone's taste and can see that 3rd party sets are also available. Does anyone have these fitted to an IS and if so what did you purchase? As usual the Lexus genuine parts are certainly not cheap for what they are and guess even more when colour coded to match the car
  22. I remember way back when I first took the plunge in to Lexus Hybrids, I had the opportunity at the dealership to chat with the Master Tech when he was outlining the benefits of ownership. I specifically remember him telling me that disks and pads last much longer than a conventional vehicle, in fact he quoted 100,000 plus miles. Although I have never had the opportunity to personally achieve this it certainly looks like your working your way to this mileage and beyond...
  23. They were marketed generally as ``your chance to drive away with a Brand New or Approved Used Lexus with not just a dealer level discount but with an additional manufacturer authorised VIP Bonus`` However like any sales event it may or may not be the best time to strike a deal. It's likely a few members on here have had experiences that do not gel with above. I have never been to one so can not pass personal comments. I know dealers in the past have been known to offer an additional loyalty trade in value to make you feel as though you've got a good deal when trading hybrid for hybrid The car market at the moment is very buoyant so it may not be the best time but certainly worth a try if you are looking for a specific model. Nothing ventured......
  24. I once enquired on the cost of a service plan using a Toyota MD as they were a lot closer to travel to. The plan costs were less than Lexus but Toyota said they could not carry out the hybrid battery health check that had to be done at lexus. I priced this and as a standalone it was 59.00. then you would have the hassle of taking it to 2 dealers annually. I thought it was strange that they could do the service but not the battery check (as they do these on Toyota, s anyway) I concluded that the reason was to always push the customer to get the appropriate services as the lexus dealerships.
  25. I owned a facelift 2014-on CT for a few year. Things I loved A) THE specification/extras. I was fortunate to have the premier spec with upgraded alloys. Particularly impressed with the leather interior and MLevinson sound, it was fantastic. Lights were LED also which were also spot on B) The fuel consumption : when using on the daily commute. It was a case of 50 percent of the journey moving, and 50 percent sitting in traffic. The CT200 hybrids love being stuck in traffic. C) The reliability: no issues with the car whatsoever and servicing at the dealer second to none. D) I found the car very cheap to run with limited time at the fuel pumps. I found on long motorway journeys it would average between 44 and 47mpg, although this was not as good as a diesel it made up on the short trips which is generally a high percentage of most peoples journeys. economy was better on the shorter stop start trips Things that sometimes bothered me. a) Engine power,: although 80-90 percent of the time the engine is sufficient, I had the odd occasion when attempting overtaking at over 70 where it felt underpowered. These were normally on inclines really. That said I had previously been used to driving torquey diesels for 5 year. b) The ride quality on rural/bad roads... I found the suspension quite harsh at times but only on back roads/bad roads, the other half felt the same. that said the car handled superbly and found it could corner like a go kart on sweeping bends. These were my experiences on time of ownership
