  1. Hi, is the ct200h boot aluminium? It looks as though a preference for non magnetic material would be to use an electrostatic GB sticker for rear glass that would be removable. You would need to check if putting in window comply with EU law, it looks like it does
  2. I have took 2 plans on 2 different cars at different times, with the same dealer. The best overall discount I managed to achieve was 20.5% off on the total plan cost (3 services) The saving was £290 which was almost the price of an interim service so thought it was a fair deal.
  3. No problem, I'm sure everyone on the forum can also comment on any thoughts. If your looking to definately find a car and see one at a main dealer my advice is to act quickly, secure it with a holding deposit (which is refundable). The used car market is high in demand at the moment and cars are being sold quite quickly.
  4. When you say everything else looks suspicious what do you mean? A couple of things to consider a) it is a North East registered car sitting up in edinburgh. With the car market the way it is this could simply mean the dealer purchased it from a private seller in the North East or could mean something else. b) Check the dealer out for reviews on the Web, although they have a number of positive reviews they also have a few negative reviews c) The mileage is above average for its age and it is priced at 19K. If you were to look for a similar spec car with similar miles, it's likely you would find an approved used car from a lexus dealer for about 1K more. If you are buying with finance, the additional price from a main dealer is likely to have a minimal overall impact on the total cost as it is likely that better rates of finance are available from a lexus dealer. The additional approved used benefits may also provide a further level of assurance when purchasing from a main dealer. (breakdown cover, approved used warranty etc.) - although the car you are looking at may qualify for lexus relax warranty if it was serviced at a lexus dealer recently, having said that it will not qualify as the last service stamp in the book suggests it was 18month ago so it is due a service. If this was done at a dealer it would cost 500-700 pound, again its just put that price on the car which starts getting close to main dealer prices. The Apr rate advertised from the dealer on a pcp purchase is high at 11. 9 percent. This puts over 5k in interest on the car over a 48 month period. d) The advert states it has a long mot till October 21. That's about 4 month away which is not a long mot. The advert states it is £30 a year road tax, again this is incorrect as it was registered in October 2017 so does not qualify for £30 tax. As a) above they may be absolutely nothing wrong with the car but as with any secondhand car you have to do what feels right for yourself rather than be pushed to decide on any sort of deal that you have concerns over. Finally you would need to typically inspect any car in the usual way and agree on any rectifications that may be needed prior to the point of sale (tyres, brakes, cosmetics etc) , this applies to a purchase from any garage/dealer. What has drawn you to this specific car, is it the spec, the price or something else?
  5. Fantastic, that's helped a lot. I already have 2 of the 24 inch Densos new that I had kept from a previous car so just need to buy the 18 inch version for a set
  6. I have always used the denso blades on previous cars. I have only had an is300h a few weeks now, do you have the denso code numbers for each wiper? Also are the sizes the same on is300h pre facelift and facelift models (2017 on) Thanks
  7. If the used lexus standard is no longer the case then one would assume that any acceptable standards were specific to the "group/franchise" who supplied the car and each one has a different standard on if they would let a car go out with tyres that were extremely close to the legal minimum. I must admit from my past experiences I have always personally checked or asked the question and when I was unhappy got them to sort with what money/markup they had in the car. On that note though I am hearing of more and more dealerships who are operating on models of high volume/low margins whereby the money in the car has been halved on what it was a few year ago, that said trying to do that with lexus would have been difficult but some posts on here seem to suggest that the brand is becoming less unique on what it was a few years ago. Good luck with the complaint.
  8. If the vehicle was sold as a lexus select approved vehicle then I belive that the tyres have to all have over 3mm of tread depth across 75 percent of the tyres for Lexus standards. I would assume this would also apply to a premium used vehicle. You should take the car for a check to a tyre depot/ independent garage to have the tread depths measured and a quick report on the general condition of each tyre to ascertain the condition etc.
  9. Lol, the driveway was recently extended across its width so it hasn't had the time for the weeds to develop. They look great initially but as you say after time take a bit of maintenance to keep clean
  10. Just moved across from the CT200 Premier that was sold last year. Missed the brand so now managed to get my hands on a facelift 300H. So far enjoying the experience, need to learn a bit more on all the functionality, here's a picture after a quick wash today
  11. Is there an easy way to clean the inside of the back rear windscreen on the IS300H? I have noticed a few marks inside and some dust/build up on the rear shelf where it comes close to the window. Just wondering if there's an easy way to clean window/hoover dust with the car having a boot rather than a hatch. Thanks in advance
  12. Recently had slider pins replaced on one of our Toyota due to binding brakes, squealing. The car has extended warranty and they rejected the claim based on mileage as its coming close to the 100k mark. I pointed out to the dealer that it was not a wear and tear item but understand that corrosion can cause these to malfunction. The dealer was more than happy to provide details to warranty dept, if I wanted to try myself. The interesting overall aspect is that the only spanners ever to go near the car have been from the dealership, so with a full dealer history which it has you could argue that the servicing regime has not managed to prevent this from happening.. I did not push but paid the bill...... Its rare I've ever had a claim rejected so wondering if they are becoming more selective. Wil be interesting to know if you do claim with lexus on what the outcome is....
  13. Hi, anthonyb which CT is it you were looking at? The road tax will be £0 if registered before April 2017. Expect comprehensive insurance between 350-400 with one of the major insurance companies. Servicing costs can be reduced at a dealer by taking out a service plan. You can also get cheaper services at dealers if car is over 5 years old. For budget purposes would estimate an average of 280 per year based on 3 services over 3 year. You can get cheaper by not using a dealer but consideration should be taken into account as you also get free hybrid battery health check which is required for hybrid battery warranty. Fuel costs for that mileage I would say based on current prices between 22-25 per week. That is based on an average of 50mpg which you should achieve. A lot depends on if you have a daily pattern like back and forth to work etc and what type of traffic you encounter. The hybrids like slow and stopped traffic for a while (when in eV mode) where conventional petrol and diesels are the opposite. You can with careful driving exceed 60mpg. Economy in the winter does drop though as the car relies more on warming up through conventional fuel as opposed to battery. One thing for certain you will be at the fuel station a lot less than with your Ls430. Attached are a couple of shots from computer which show what being stuck in traffic is like. The bars represent electric use over a period of time. as you can see duration of the journey and average speed was terrible but your not to bothered as fuel use is minimal, this was heavy slow traffic... The other shot is good day showing average mpg achieved over a 15 mile journey. These 2 are both related to heavy traffic but shows the best side of hybrid technology. Getting back to you looking for a CT. You may be able to get one approved used from a lexus dealer for money close to a non dealer, with a peace of mind warranty and dealer service history knowing its also had its annual hybrid battery checks. Reliability is up near the top of the list so should not be much to worry about. Hope the above is of help.
  14. I originally ran with Dunlop Sport Maxx RTs. They were good when new but found them quite hard and prone to tramlining when 1/2 worn. I had a loan CT when car was in for service and it was fitted with yokohama E70 decibels that appeared to feel softer and quieter so I retyred with those. (they are also a oem choice) They have been good but a lot of folk will swing towards Michelin Cross climates for both noise, comfort and all round summer/winter use. You do pay a bit of a premium but I guess it depends on what you are looking to get out of a specific tyre on your car.
  15. Which broker did you use if you don't mind me asking. Its interesting to know that the lead time to the Car with the higher spec is a number of months. I know dealers can generally have demonstrators available but understand they are not allowed to sell unless a period of time has elapsed. That said a number of folk don't like them as they have been driven by many and sometimes can be used as courtesy cars. So does your new f-sport have any shortcomings over your premier on spec? Did you go for ML system again or not?
  16. What year was your premier, did you trade it in. Assume with a local dealer. Was the trade in price ok
  17. This may help http://www.whylexus.com/mute-lexus-navigation-voice-guidance-without-canceling-route/
  18. Likely shown on the attached lexus document that summarises the differences and lists what is checked/done. Think that 40,60 and 80 would be classed as Major and the 100k one would be major and coolant and cambelt if applicable. Hope this helps Lexus - Service Table 0418.pdf
  19. This potentially appears to be a common problem. It may be series/age specific so the more members that check the more data will be available to bottom out this issue.
  20. What sunstrip visor is recommended?
  21. Thanks for the feedback so far, it kind of reminded me of a typical taxi where stickers are heavily used...
  22. Be interested in knowing if all models of the current Lexus range carries both labels
  23. I agree with that observation although the car would not go to anyone under current ownership but down the line then yes, it's an issue. My view is that there are other ways to still get this safety message across as other manufacturers do by having this label around the glove box area. Whilst the visor is up and not used then from the outside this label is not seen., I still feel that with visor in use then from the outside it looks a bit strange to see this good sized warning label across the windscreen as it is serving no purpose as only visible from outside the car which defeats its original purpose. I am interested to know if other models across the lexus range have these labels on each side of the passenger visor as is on the CT. I can see from a safety perspective the reason for the labels is that they can be no doubt that they have shown the message when either the visor is not in use or in use as with having 2 labels it is always visible from inside the car.
  24. Not sure you are thinking about the same labels... The labels I refer appear to be simply warning labels warning against when putting babies/ kids in passenger seat then referring to manual for further info... Likely advising to switch off airbag... See attached showing the label on both sides of sun visor..
